Like the avid music listener and lover that i are i used to think i was opened to just about any genre. Shamefully, i must admit country music wasn’t on my radar until recently. It is only in the past few months that i’ve come to discovered the wonder to American and world cultural heritage which is......country music :)

I've noticed a few leit-motives runnin’ through it like some really big streams. I don’t mean to oversimplify things, but to me many of the songs are either about love of country, trucks and life on the road, the life of common folk as opposed to the big city dwellers and the highs and lows of love. Needless to say love is my favorite topic.

At times the beautiful melodies capture the soul, other times it's the fun and excitement that makes you get up and dance, it may also be the good ole fashioned videos full of country side and family values, other times it may be the simplicity and the truthfulness of the lyrics that hit home, all of this and more has turned me into an admirer of the country scene, although i am anywhere near a connoisseur.

This is kinda similar, although from the other perspective, that of the parents of only children who are girls and have no one by their side. Their biggest fear is who will take care of their little girl once they are gone?

An to bring this full circle – indeed God bless the little man, God bless country music and its artists – those who passed and those who are carrying the torch.

I know there is tone of stuff out there that i couldn't put in what is already a huge post, but i'm really hoping i'm not the only one in here who does enjoy country music and maybe some other folks will add some stuff as well. It'd be nice to know i ain't the only igggnurant snub who came to know better recently.

P.S. I hope all them vids won't slow the page down terribly, they are great and worth watching.

I think the closest I've ever gotten to country is Taylor Swift, and she's more pop than country anyway. Not my cup of tea, I reckon.
 
^^^ Nice to know i ain't the only1 enjoyin' this lovely music :) Here are a few gems i forgot last time around; the ladies were kinda under-represented then. I'll have to admit that some of the vids show the cracks of time, but it's the spirit of the tunes that counts. At times the melody or in my case the words are far more important than the other artistic 'components' of the creation.

Even country music covers are great lol. Big props to the Chad guy singin' for his girlfriend. Now that's loooove :D






 
I like some country music. My favourite is LeAnn Rimes. Her voice is just incredible.

I like Lady Antebellum's Need You Now, but have not heard anything else.

Taylor Swift is halfway between pop and country, and appeals more to a younger audience, but I still enjoy her music.
 
I'm not a huge fan of country but I do appreciate some of it (mostly the females). I'm a fan of Dolly, Reba, Wynonna, Faith, Dixie Chicks, and Kathy Mattea.
