This is a message that is going viral on the web: Let's join forces to make a change on YT! I'm sharing the message with you all:


Would you like to take part in a youtube experiment? One designed to do something about the horrific amount of hate videos on youtube featuring Michael Jackson. A simultaneous targeting of these videos on is planned for Saturday, Febuary 5. Times are detailed below.

Many groups on FB and many here on twitter are coming together to promote & participate in this action to try and remove certain youtube videos & users from youtube. We are hoping you will join us.

Here are some simple instructions to accomplish this task.





1: WHEN and WHERE:

DATE: Saturday -- Febuary 5, 2011


TIME: ONE HOUR WINDOW





12:00 PM -- 1:00 PM EST


11:00 AM -- 12:00 PM CST


09:00 AM -- 10:00 AM PST


5:00 PM -- 6:00 PM GMT





2: WHAT:




After you have signed in and /or created your Youtube account, please go to the links below & follow these instructions:




1 Dislike the video (thumbs down)


2 Move across to the Flag icon to your right & click on it.


3 A drop down box will appear. Select 'hateful or abusive content.'



4 From there, move your cursor across to the right and select -- 'Promotes Hatred or Violence'


5 Another drop down list will appear:




- age

- colour

- disability

- ethnic origin

- gender identity

- national origin

- race

- religion

- sex

- sexual orientation

- veteran status



The above list is double-talk by youtube as reporting these kind of videos does not really fit into the categories they show. Personally, I select either race or sexual orientation as these abusive users are promoting an untrue and false lie about Michael Jackson and sexual abuse, and are often racist. Your choices here are not ideal but youtube will not accept your report if you do not make a selection.

Please Note:



With users -- House of Pain & ultra Propofol -- feel free to work your way through their entire video catalogue, as well as flagging and
reporting their home channels.

Results will not show immediately as it takes time for youtube to process reports of abuse. But if we all do this today & at other dates in the future, we may seriously impact the effort to cleanup the hate on youtube. Other efforts to deal with persistent youtube abusers in relation to MJ are also happening offline.

Here is update to Maria's post: Please refer specifically to the time-frames which we are asking for your help. This can be done throughout the entire weekend instead of just one hour. There is some other additional information as well.

Hello MJJC family,

Here we have another negative situation about Michael that requires IMMEDIATE attention (Saturday, February 4, 2011). Before I go any further, please know that what we are asking is not for the faint-hearted, so if you do not feel comfortable participating, please do not.

Who:
YouTube, specifically channels created by "House of Pain" and "Ultra Propofol."

What:
Please help us remove Michael Jackson hate videos on YouTube. Here's a sickening collection of videos that can be taken down for hate content.

How:
You need NOT view the videos; the titles themselves reveal the hatred. After you sign in and/or create your YouTube account, please go to the links listed above and follow these instructions.

Step #1: Dislike (thumbs down) the video.

Step #2: Move your cursor to the Flag icon on the right and click on it.

Step #3: A drop down will appear. Select "hateful or abusive content."

Step #4: Move your cursor to the right and select "promotes hatred or violence'"

Step #5: Another drop down will appear. Select either "race" or "sexual orientation."

Note: This YouTube campaign is experimental. Your actions will take time to be analyzed by YouTube Viewer Support. We'll advise if this campaign was successful in removing hate videos from YouTube. If we're successful, we'll conduct this campaign repeatedly, if necessary, until all Michael Jackson hate videos are removed. Please feel free to use these instructions anytime you encounter a hateful Michael Jackson video.

It appears that we have more YT videos to address. The YT clean-up is an ongoing project that needs our attention and collective monitoring. Please follow the steps as already described previously in this thread by Windy09.

These MJ hate videos were uploaded 2 days ago, one was uploaded less than 24 hours ago. Please report. A few might be repeat videos newly uploaded.

I know at least two were removed last week and several had disclaimers placed. I do believe one or two of the channels were removed as well but I will need to confirm. I've made an inquiry and will post as soon as I have the updated info. Thank you for asking. :yes:
 
Truly quite disgusting--it's a shame people have nothing better to do with their lives. I reported them, although I highly doubt anything will be done about this. Those people should all go apply at the local burger joint and get a life for once, instead of trolling on the internet, but I reckon they're too dull to figure that out. Their spelling/grammar use is indeed telling of their intelligence, or rather, lack thereof. They should pick up a grammar book and improve their English instead of wasting their time. Bah.

i done it,maybe a silly question is flagging them the same as reporting?
 
 
YouTube is, unfortunately, very much a no-man's land, when it comes to decency. It is almost impossible to get users banned, especially since such a large amount of people there are so nasty in their comments towards other YouTube users, or in their usernames/profile pages. I reckon, if YouTube actively pursued every report it got, there would be almost no one left on the site lol. It's easier to get a video taken down, though, from what I have observed.

With that said, Maria MJ's strategy of en masse reporting is a good one because the YT staff will have to pay attention once multiple reports regarding the same user/video have been made. I will report all of the videos which have been posted here, and I hope we achieve something through our collective efforts. Some people are clearly disgusting beyond comprehension, and have nothing to do with their lives save sit in their mother's basement and come up with all these stupid channels/videos, contributing nothing to society and being complete parasites. Yuck!
