I have just started a meetup group called LEGACY OF LOVE, dedicated to celebrating Michael's life and work. I would like it to be an avenue for people that are fans both new and old, to learn about his art & his love, and most of all have fun! I am so thankful to have had this forum but, I would like to take it offline sometimes and I think this group is a great way to do it.

I am in NYC and that is where I would like and plan most of the events to take place.

I have some ideas so far but, I was wondering if you guys could choose, what types of things would you like to do? :clapping:

You're in NYC so the city is pretty much your oyster isn't it? There's plenty to do, surely.

Do you mean, MJ related things only. Or do you mean things that MJ was interested in and influenced by, like museums?

I mean MJ related things and things that he was influenced by/ enjoyed :cheeky:. I am open to doing completely non related things also (like dinners etc) but, would like ideas on what some fun related things to do would be for everyone

I would plan group volunteer activities, and then for fun do MJ movie nights(the LA group here does those). :)

how about a Michael tour?

MSG
Palace Hotel (where Michael stayed in Sept 2001, for MSG concerts)
Four Seasons Hotel (where Michael stayed for Invincible cd signing Nov 20010
FAO Swartz (where Michael used to shop)
Carnegie Hall ( Heal The Kids Speech, feb 2001)
Subway station where BAD was filmed
Brooklyn Museum, where EBONY photo shoot took place
Apollo Theatre
Tavern On The Green (where after party for MSG concerts was)

years ago, a British fan club called MJNI started YANA groups, which was where fans in an area would meet up and the reports were printed in the fan club magazine. In the UK , they had YANA groups in most large cities or areas, in Ireland we just had one group. The Irish YANA group used to meet about once a month in Dublin. As there are very few "Michael" things to do in Dublin, we used to do a circuit of the music shops in central Dublin, and then go for lunch somewhere. Over lunch we would usually bring some piece of merchandise to show the group and also share stories about our travels to see Michael.

wow guys, thank you sooo much for these ideas!!!!

you guys rock :)

keep em coming please :flowers: and anyone that is interested in joining, please shoot me a PM!

Perhaps Madame Tussauds? Not sure there is one in New York...

There is. I saw Michael's wax figure there several years ago.

You know...in NYC there are all sorts of celebrity, movie and TV location sightseeing tours. Well, there should be a formal Michael Jackson hotspot tour! :)

aawww!!! I was a coordinator of a YANA group in Moscow!!! :clapping:

Our group usually had meetings at one the members' place, and every time it was a different location, so the host could show their MJ collection which we all admired :) We watched videos, learned MJ dances, celebrated birthdays (ours, Michael's and his kids'). It was fun!

:D thats what I would have loved for our group to do too, but as we only had one group for the entire country, we had to do things which were in a central location, where people could get to easy. Most of the members lived around 2 or 3 hours away from central Dublin and it wasn't practical to have the meetings at each others houses. I used to read about groups like yours , which met at peoples houses, they sounded so much more fun than ours, just going round the music shops etc.

Next to Jackson events:
- Meet up at some fans house and watch MJ footage and have fun.
- Organise a BBQ
- Going to the cinema
- Going to a amusement park
- Maybe some MJ karaoke

Bsicly it can be anything because it doesn't always have to be MJ related.
