I have a question about Invincible Sales

The media is trying to distort sales of Invinicible by only mentioning its US album sales. If they mentioned that it sold 10 million copies worlwide they cannot continue to say that he is no longer relevant in today's music scene. I found a list online of the top 10 albums of 2006, and FutureSex/LoveSounds sold around 2 million copies, too. And that was with tons of promotion and 4 or 5 released singles. His albums have and will always sale. Don't let the media trick you into thinking that his sales have decreased dramatically because they haven't.

1. Soundtrack - High School Musical - 3,719,071
2. Rascal Flatts - Me and My Gang - 3,479,994
3. Carrie Underwood - Some Hearts - 3,015,950
4. Nickelback - All the Right Reasons - 2,688,166
5. Justin Timberlake - FutureSex / LoveSounds - 2,377,127
6. James Blunt - Back to Bedlam - 2,137,142
7. Beyonce - B'Day - 2,010,311
8. Soundtrack - Hannah Montana - 1,987,681
9. Dixie Chicks - Taking the Long Way - 1,856,284
10. Hinder - Extreme Behavior - 1,817,350

I think this is only US sales, but I am not too sure.

well tell sony because i and others such as bob are using the figues sony gave around the summer of 2002. if its fiction its created by sony and not by fans

I'd rather say that you should research where the hell you've read an announcement by Sony as there never was anything like that.

The last thing that Sony said about the album's sales figure was that it has sold 5,4 mio. copies worldwide.

No other word since then.

i agree with u about the biased media..but, i guarantee, no matter how many times u give ur input, some will believe what they choose to believe..but thanks for ur post anyway.

the information came from MS tenda the owner of the old MJJF who saw the docs and i also believe mr GMT (He worked for sony at the time) coroberated the info. he would have to confirm that thought cause we are going back many years

and maybe you should take your attitude somewhere else and learn some manners

The last thing that Sony said about the album's sales figure was that it has sold 5,4 mio. copies worldwide.

which was a week or so after release

yes we do have to remember that this is an instant gratification atmosphere among reporters....and they'd love you to think that what happens in the first week determines a person's career, just like they'd like you to believe that what happens in the first week of a movie determines how good it is. i've seen many movies on tv that were really good, but left after the first week because they(in the opinion of the media) didn't get the appropriate sales figure in the first week. it could be that that perception is ruining most of the music industry. good thing MJ has such a solid fanbase.

after two full months!!

and it's no secret that after a short time sales have rapidly decreased worldwide

just look what Invincible is seling every week in the US, it's a extremely small number

"learn some manners"?
I did neither attack you nor anyone else and I wasn't offending at all

I think the sales of Invincible are around 8-10 million as of 2003. I don't know what the albums sales of are in 2007-08, and I don't know if it's sold another few million as most high street music stores don't seem to have Invincible in stock (at least here in the UK). sometimes I may see just "1 copy" of an Invincible cd in a shelf with Michael's other albums.

As for Michael's sales going down hill and Invincible selling less than the expected 20 million + albums (an unrealistic figure for any artist to sell with every album released), the sales of Invincible would have been a amazing success for any other artist or band.

U2 released an album in 2000 or 2002 that sold 10 million and the media where all saying how successful that album. Justin Timberlake's Justified album sold 8 million worldwide by 2003 and, the media were calling him the New King of Pop. Where as Michael's 8-10 million selling albums was called a flop, because only 1 2 singles were released, and lack of promotion from both (mainly) Sony and Michael.

What's forgotten is that Invincible sold 5 million albums in 3 months (I think this would have made it his fastest selling album). The thing with the music business now is that all artist/bands sell less albums now.

I do wonder how many albums Invincible would have sold if Michael hadn't of released it with 5 different colour cd covers, because some fans like myself bought all 5 of the colors, and really this was a waste of money for just a different colour piece of paper. There should have had different photos or something in each different colour booklet.

The music business is becoming more fragmented with digital downloads on computers and mobile phones etc, and I think the music business has gone back in time to the 1950's and early 1960's when Singles not albums dominated music sales. Because these day's many people on select or buy there favorite songs to put on there iPods.

Hopefully after Invincible the media and even fans will pay less attention to sales, and more to the quality of the albums Michael releases. I'm sure any album Michael releases will never flop. Michael's flop album Invincible is more successful than many so called major acts like Robbie Williams and Kylie Minouge's etc biggest selling albums.

yes that is well documented and hardly surprising as the promo finished for the album within a few months of release. and iam stating what was said by credible ppl as of summer 2002 inregards to sales.

"learn some manners"?
I did neither attack you nor anyone else and I wasn't offending at all

well the below statement seems to show arrogance imho as i said perhaps you should ask Ms tenda and Mr GMT before being so quick to jump on ppl because you presume that you are correct

at the end of the day vince cannot be compaired with other mj albums sales because of what happened with it and mottola.it cant really be used and an example of where his sales are, were going. the fact is as you said it still sold more copies with all the problems that went on then the supposed big artists of that time sold with a year or so of promo singles releases and concerts/tours.that sums it all up

That's the most stupid explanation I've heard ever. Sorry but it is.. lol
First of all, the ball isn't even shaped as a ball. Wich should be enough to erase the name football. (all other sports involving the name ball, there's actually a thing formed like a ball):p
Second: the running has nothing to do with it, it's not like they have a choice, they HAVE to run, all of sports use their feet, but they dont put the foot in their name because of that.

Yes there a logical explanation, the logical explanation is the hand, foot, and for instance basket as in basket ball. The name of what you call football should have had something to do with the thouchdown area or when you do a field goal (i don't know what it's called)

Football, or should I say soccer was invented long before "football" the rest of the world calls it football but americans refuse to... lol

Btw this not an angry post... :)

Peace:punk:

not angry, just irrelevant. I call it what I was taught to call it and have always heard it called. Who knows who started it or why they did it.

And about Invincible, we all know it's sold right up there with the top artists of today, but yet people call it a flop. Only compared to Thriller, but then everything is a flop compared to something gynormous like that, lol.

I love Invincible! I don't care how much it sold, I think it is over 10 million too! THAT IS A LOT! The important thing is that I HAVE IT! MUAHAHAHAHAA!!!

hihihi just kidding!!! LOL! You know, Invincible did not sell less because ppl didn't like it as much as other albums, it is to do with the internet and 'illegal' downloading.. the ppl who bought vince were the fans, who just HAD to HAVE it!, like ME :D and if there are 10 million fans worldwide, yeah I believe that!! Other ppl just download it!

10 million? That is very good for an album like invincible

Thank you. Plus the promo was shot soo...i know many people who didn't even realize MJ had a new album out.

the expression "where the hell" does not implicate arrogance
it's just an ordinary colloquial expression and you know that, right?

but the crux of the matter is, that you yourself then presume you are correct because you trust into Ms Tenda and Mr GMT.

well, don't forget, that this is no proof for authenticity and you can't tell people it's true then
