Invincible was not only better than Off the Wall, but well deserving of it's "Album of the Decade" award, people need to acknowledge how GREAT it was

Nobody is making scenes as far as I am concerned, though?
I just wish to know why you consider "Little Susie" as being such a weak song (in your view,at least).
I am not looking for a fight,but rather a (healthy,I hope)debate/discussion on the matter.
Okay. It's not that bad) Still I love it more than Childhood)

Maybe he wouldn't cover them but he'd definitely interpolate them.

The 1st one sounds like Jam and 2 Bad, like a rudimentary blend kinda.

The 3rd one would be something they'd sample as a homage to James Brown, which it sounds like.

The 4th one, he would definitely be all over that melody line of the guitar. If he liked Horse with No Name, why not this?

The 2nd one, you got me there. OutKast is crazy tho, no one can do them.
You really think Mike could do Rock Lobster with Fred's talk singing and the Yoko Ono style vocals Cindy & Kate are doing at the end of the song? That song has nothing in common with Horse With No Name, that's just some soft rock. I don't picture Mike singing "Everybody's fruging. Twisting around the fire, having fun. Baking potatoes, baking in the sun" or "In walked a jellyfish" anyway. His music doesn't have a campy humor like that, lol. Weird Al could do Rock Lobster though, animal noises & all.

I said interpolate. As in, sample the music. Put new lyrics on top.

I replied to a comment that said Mike could make any song 100% better. I meant Mike can't do the songs exactly like they are, not changing the lyrics or arrangement like Chris Cornell's Billie Jean. I don't think Mike could do the vocal styles of singers such as Screamin' Jay Hawkins, Howlin' Wolf, Diamanda Galás, Tori Amos, Bjork, Tiny Tim, etc. Anybody can sample music. Could Mike do a track like Revolution 9 by The Beatles or the types of songs Frank Zappa does? Unlikely. Plus there's artists like Johnny Rebel, that I'm pretty sure Mike wouldn't do, lyric change or not, lol.

You're talking about doing it in their style, tbh. I don't think artists need to do that anyway. They're making art, not an impersonation. Not even a homage per say. But if he liked a sound I think he'd like it and do Something, with it.

Even if Mike does it in his style, changing the lyrics means it's a different song altogether, whether it's Weird Al or U Can't Touch This. Unless Mike performed any new lyrics in the original vocal arrangement, how would anybody know he was remaking I Go To Work or Rock Lobster? Also I mentioned Revolution 9. How can Mike cover that one or even make a track like it? "Any song" also includes instrumentals & songs that only contain scatting. What could have Mike done with this to make it "100% better"?
It also wouldn't make much sense for Mike to do songs like WAP by Cardi B & Megan Thee Stallion, I'm Every Woman by Chaka Khan, or Latin Till I Die by Gerardo. 🤣

Can you just stick to one subject already? You're putting me in a brain fog.

How is it more than one subject? You replied to my comment which was about "any song", and I said Mike couldn't do "any song" and posted some examples. Then you changed the subject talking about interpolations & sampling which had nothing to do with what I said or even what I originally replied to. How is doing an interpolation making a song "100% better"? That's not even doing a cover of a song, that's singing a different song like the original song. Which is closer to a mashup or remix.

I never said anything about "any song". I said he'd interpolate a few of the ones you mentioned.

The years 1999-2001 were a rough time for Michael and it reflected in Invincible. I think if Michael released an album of music similar to his 90s input (like a HIStory Part 2, so to speak) and include some songs intended for Invincible, it would have been more successful.

History Part 2 is kinda BOTDF album. Invincible is a brand new era. Experiment

I know, that's why I said that your comment had nothing to do with what I was talking about. I replied to this comment which is about Mike covering "any song" to make it "100% better". The OP was not about doing an interpolation or changing the lyrics. All of my comments were about the same thing, such as Mike could not cover Revolution 9 or free jazz instrumental songs.
Pretty sure Michael could have covered ANY song and it would have been instantly 100x better

Invincible better than Off the WALL?

MJ said it himself:
Invincible is his best album.

end of discussion.

i haven't listened to OTW for a few years, while I'm blasting Invincible nearly every week.

He's not gonna say it's shit and don't buy it, is he?

The aim is to sell as many albums as possible , to say it's his best album is to build hype.

If Michael thought it was his best album ever , he would have made more of an effort to make peace with Sony and work through their problems. The album was dead within a year.

Invincible is way more versatile than Off the Wall
Unfortunately Invincible was also nothing more than a skid mark in Michael's career - nobody cares or are even aware of it other than on here.

Off The Wall was the beginning of a legendary collaboration that resulted in 3 timeless albums starting in 1979 and ending in 1987.

The greedy bastards at Sony deserve all blame for that shit.

If the argument here is historical standing, that would mean that Thriller is his best album. And I’m sure most people here wouldn’t agree.

And he would have performed more songs from that album.

At the Apollo 2002 shows he performed Black Or White, Dangerous and Heal The World
At American Bandstand 2002 he performed Dangerous
And at United We Stand 2001 he performed Man In The Mirror

But nothing from Invincible

3 Songs from Dangerous
One song from Dangerous
One song from Bad
Dangerous was clearly his favourite album and it shows

Thriller is arguably his best album , his most important, most iconic and biggest selling. It's filled with iconic and timeless songs.

Invincible is to Michael what Victory was to the Jacksons
