Jackson ordered to pay law firm $175K

mj is still apealing the original verdcit so wont be paying anything until then. i fail to see how a judgecan order you to pay damages for the hiring of the other persons lawyer when its still not decided if u actually owe them anything.

the thing is, michael wouldn't even be enmessed in legal battles left and right had he paid .[/b]

paid what though? like schaffel who wanted 20 million if had just paid up that instead of fighting it. seems in many of these cases mj ends up in court because the ppl sueing him are infalting their bills because its mj. hence mj doesnt pay and u end up in court and the final amounts owed are far less. if ppl are doing that to you then theres no other road to take then to go to court and get the amounts reduced. anyway its all old lawsuits and when this is done the next one will be filed until everything from the weisner/kinitzer years are cleared up. and to think fans tried towarn him year ago about dieter and karends famous words lol. its amazing how the biggest star in the work was surroundiing and allowed himself to be sourrounded by such tinpot "businessmen" and con artists with no history of anything

this whole financial bullshit lawsuit thing really pisses me off. i bet it pisses MJ off too. i do not want to focus on it. there are lots of other good, positive things happening for MJ to give this bullshit attention

Exactelly! Pay what?

Take for example Schafell - do you honestlly think he wasn't payed at ALL, while being in Michael's service for months?? I mean what human being stays that long without being paid, at least an advance?

Then he is suing and asking for 20 millions? For what? Because he is mad?

Those lawyers the same, maybe some of them worked hard, but maybe some others worked a few hours and got terminated quickly and they still charge for the entire period even if they didn't work it entirelly. Then throw a trial and inflate their bills more. How convenient...

got u on that (decision to be appealed). let's just wait then until the ruling becomes final and executory. re: the decision of the judge, well we are not privvy to the merits of the case so...

i have no beef against mike suing. that's his right if he feels he is agrieved. the court is the right arbiter. my only point is, before mike hires the services of these people he pretty knows how much he will be coughing up. maybe some of them charges him bloated bills and so he fights them out in court but then if this happens everytime then something is seriously wrong

Telling Michael to write his own checks and comparing him to other people's advice is a bit farfetched. MJ is in a different industry, the music industry where it's almost impossible to write your own cheques.
.........
Now picture Michael with his vast music empire. It's a nightmare. As you saw with LeGrand, his managers. His managers tell him to fire LeGrand. Meanwhile, LeGrand is onto his managers for fraud. Then he has Bashir messing him up, Sony messing him up,.... it's tough to know what to doAnd this shows from MJ's lawyer who was happy with the outcome, paying far less than Ayscough asked for. [/b][/b]

Break it down RSW22! :cookiemonster:
Michael shows he's no easy target now. You want come get my money, see you in court ! :zformation:

TOTALLY AGREE WITH YOU rsw22
but i think Michael really doesn't know how to discern between the sincere truthful ones and the charlatan or hypocrites.

Thank you!!!

All of this circus here for $175,000? Hello?!?!? The sum was nicelly reduced from 450,000 to 170,000. Almost all these trials Michael now fights are nicelly reduced. If those who get him in trial were that honest, why their sums are getting reduced?? :innocent:

Compare these civil trials, with the other one.... there is no ground for comparation, no ground for such drama. Some of you're throwing a storm in a glass of water, for real. Michael seems relaxed, and some of you, curiously enough, seem to miss the big ol' trial's days....[/b]
Because that's the nature of the law. They know they're not going to fight it out in court, so they ask for a huge amount waiting for a settlement. They know Michael's net worth, so they go as high as they can within reason. Even if he needs money, he still has that catalogue that's worth like a kajillion dollars. As long as he has that and bills left unpaid, the law suits will keep coming. They know he has money, and they're going to get it out of him one way or the other.

While it is true that some performers have been cheated out of their money, most of the really successful ones have actually managed to hold on to them. I don't see Madonna, Oprah, Paul McCartney, Mick Jagger, Tom Cruise and the rest of the extremely wealthy and successful ones being sued once a week for non payment of bills. Surely, at this point in time, all of them are wealthier than MJ. What's their magic formula?

I don't know enough about MJ's business to pinpoint the problem, but I find it hard to believe that you can pin it all on some sort of conspiracy. The idea strikes me that perhaps MJ is a poor judge of charachter and employs all the wrong people. He used to work with top people like Johan Branca and Frank Dileo and had huge commercial and financial success. Yet he chose to get rid of them in favour of the Dieters and Shaffels. He has to take some of the responsibilty for that. If he wants to hold on to his money, he needs to be hands on. If he can't deal with too complicated businesses, he must simplify. It doesn't do to put yourself in a situation you can't handle and then blame everybody else. I realize that the trial was a particularly hard time, but the problems seem to have been ongoing.

um no...wasn't he already ordered to pay them? and he did, and this is a new verdict? he owes them that much, PLUS INTEREST......

he can always go back and sue them. but this judge wasn't havin' it and im sure they got the goods they need now, cuz y the hell would raymone be so adamant about a conspiracy then shut her mouth? she spoke w/o having it all together, and is now silent while gathering the goods

timmy, u get them cd's yet? :rollin:[/b]

Yeah I got 'em. ^_^

Actually I think one of his "people" gave 'em back to me for some reason. :p

all of them seem to. if not they are from the weisner era. none of this crap used to happen b4 those ppl came onboard. just gonna take a while to clear them all out

yes il agree that mj seems very niave in judging ppl heck we all know that by whats gone on over the years. but its wrong to say he got rid of branca and co and replaced them with weisner etc. there was many years inbetween those groups of ppl coming and going.ad as chrisy said all this comes from the trial. we were shown from the depos in that case that mj was been placed under huge pressure to sign things by his own brother in the middle of the trial when he big worries going on. no wonder ppl were hiring all sort of ppl in his name and he had no idea about it. if these sorts of things are still going on in 5 years then yes complain. but al lthis crap comes from the trial and ppl taking advantage. those ppl are now gone

That needs to be repeated, it seems to be a very important part of this issue, that is being over looked by some.
