Re: Janet's world tour - first date set

Are the asian dates selling poorly?

They are selling fine. Don't believe the uninformed. She wouldn't still be adding dates in the area if the dates weren't selling.

Re: Janet's world tour - first date set

Ohh I can't wait to hear the European cities!

Re: Janet's world tour - first date set

Janet is selling fine, Hong Kong is probably selling least which is to be expected, no one is selling Hong Kong and there's still a month left, Taylor Swift hasn't even sold out, that's why a lot of people skip it.

I wish she would come to Europe first though she needs to get her face known here again...

Re: Janet's world tour - first date set

Chicago theatre seats about 4000 I think? I wonder why she isn't going to the United Center (where Michaels JAM friend the other MJJ played!!:D) which I think seats about 18000.

Janet Jackson sells out Gibson Amphitheatre in less than 10 minutes, adds additional date

Janet Jackson fans really couldn’t wait to see the pop diva.

After tickets to the April 14 Los Angeles date of her newly announced "Number Ones, Up Close and Personal Tour" went on sale at 10 a.m. Friday morning, they sold out in less than 10 minutes, according to a spokesman for Live Nation.

To try to keep up with the demand, Jackson and Live Nation have added an additional Gibson Amphitheatre performance for Friday, April 15.

Jackson previously made news when she broke Beyonce’s attendance record when headlining the 2010 Essence Music Festival. After selling out the Louisiana Superdome -- where the annual festival is held -- Jackson reportedly commanded the first-ever waiting list for the Festival with additional seats erected and sold behind the stage.

The "Number Ones, Up Close and Personal Tour" is her first tour since 2008’s brief "Rock Witchu Tour," which suffered numerous canceled dates due to poor ticket sales.

For this trek, Jackson called on her fans to vote for the 35 cities (one for each of her 35 No. 1 hits) that would constitute the itinerary, with dates in Singapore, Hong Kong and Manila being the first to be announced.

"These concerts will be different from anything I have ever done. I will be as up close and personal as possible," Jackson said in a statement. "These concerts are not about special effects. This is a love affair between me and those of you who have supported me and my work for all these years. I'll be singing and dancing from my heart. The music will all be songs that you've made number ones for me. Let's go!”

Tickets for her second L.A. date are on sale through Live Nation and Ticketmaster.

right... empty arena shows basically

Re: Janet's world tour - first date set

right... empty arena shows basically

Empty? Her shows never sold out, but never were they empty. I saw the stats to her shows and most of her shows were 75% to 90% full most of the time.

IMO, if you hate her, I would probably stay out of this thread because from the look of things, her strategy of playing theaters appears to be working because she appears to be selling out quick in alot of the major markets and is adding shows.

Naaahhhh...she wouldn't have canceled the rest of the tour if they were 75%-90% full.

Nonsense.

Either way, I think they went at it the right way by doing small venues. Sold out 5000 seats sound a lot better than half full stadiums or arenas.

exactly the rockwithu tour wasn't doing bad at all , I do think with some more push it could have easily done better thou. and looking at the math now she could easily do arenas if your selling out two or three nights at a 6,000-5,0000 theares that's at least 12,000 to 15,000 thousand people, enough for a arena.

No I came across the fact that she got 'vertigo' and cancelled the rest of the shows.. and the fact that LL Cool J dropped out of the show much earlier due to poor ticket sales.
