Justin Bieber‘s new studio album Believe packs a ton of star power in its A-list collaborations, which include Nicki Minaj, Drake and Ludacris. But producer Rodney “Darkchild” Jerkins thinks the Biebs has the vocal chops to aspire even higher in his musical matchups — to a level of pop royalty. ”I think if Michael [Jackson] was alive I would have been able to make a meeting happen and actually get them to do something together,” the hitmaker says in the Believe ZinePak, on sale now at Wal-Mart.

Darkchild, who co-wrote and co-produced several songs on Jackson’s last studio album Invincible, including the hit “You Rock My World”, has writing and production credits on Believe‘s “As Long As You Love Me” and “Die In Your Arms”. After seeing him at work in the studio, Jerkins is convinced the 18-year-old has the artistry and work ethic worthy of the King of Pop.

“There are plenty of moments when he would nail the notes and I would be like, ‘Wow’,” he says. ”To me he is this generation’s new great.”

Justin and his mentor Scooter Braun have both cited Michael Jackson as an influence, and shades of the legend-gone-too-soon can be seen in the imagery in Justin’s “Boyfriend” video — that striking silhouette in front of a moon — and in the harmonies on “Die In Your Arms” that recall the Jackson 5.

Given the sudden viability of collaboration by way of holographic resurrection (wassup, Tupac?), could a JB-MJ song or live performance be on the way? Posthumous duets have been pulled off before: Natalie Cole famously sang with her dad, Nat King Cole, on 1991′s “Unforgettable”, and Jackson’s 2001 Invincible opener “Unbreakable” featured Notorious B.I.G. — four years after his death. And let’s not forget about what happened at Coachella this year.

Though no official announcement has been made, maybe a certain surprise guest is what Justin was alluding to when he said his sold-out North American tour would be “as epic as ever”.

One guy who is a blogger writes about different celebrities tweeted this today

" I Just saw explosion of views .Of all the celebrities/Artist's i write about nobdy brings views like Michael Jackson . Not even bieber"

"Its not even close ..Like the ratio of Michael Jackson to Other celebrities traffic is like 8:2 . I see why tabloids dont shut up about MJ"

"Michael Jackson Has Unprecedented continuous public interest of any Person dead or alive. And it will never be topped"

I'm now afraid that Rodney Jerkins will try to make a duet with Bieber with some of the Invincible outtakes for MJ next album. Please Rodney don't do it.

Is it just me, or have we heard this story before. LOL!

No offense to young Justin, but ah, he is not the first name to appear in this type of article, and he certainly won't be the last.

Let's see - Timberlake and Usher come to mind. Then we had Ne-Yo and poor Chris Brown who would have done anything on earth in order to secure a duet with the one and only Michael Jackson.

It's nice talk, I guess, but "sometimes" these folks tend to go overboard. In my opinion, Darkchild is "trying" to sell himself (and the work he did on Justin's new album) more than anything else, i.e. I worked with Michael Jackson and he was great, now I'm working with Justin B and he's great too. Like I said, it's nice talk, but in a minute or so, they gonna be pushing the NEXT "great" thing in our face. It never fails!

It's all fine and dandy as far as I'm concerned, but

NO DUET!

(Not a fan of collaborations with the deceased)

It's ALL for LOVE and the hating on Justin Beiber needs to stop, he is a kid and Michael would have for sure taken him under his wing with NO question and that would have been :swoon: EXPLOSION !! Justin loves Michael what is there to hate about that

It is to easy to hate on others but we are here to teach what NOT to do because we seen it done to our Michael..

Don't hate the PLAYER hate the GAME !!

Do you mean the same way he took, Justin Timberlake, Usher, Chris Brown under his wing? Riiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiight!

I highly doubt MJ would work / duet with Justin, because he didn't do it with others who are far more talented than Bieber.

But that is not the point here....The point is Rodney Jerkins is using his one-off connection with MJ, to elevate Bieber. It's all about money...marketing...

A duet would mean they would have to remove some of Michael's vocals and replace them with Justin Bieber's. No thank you...

Personally I don't think a duet with Michael and Bieber(or Timberlake, Usher, or even Chris Brown) would be very interesting. I prefer when two artists with different styles come together to make something new and unique. I feel like a duet with any of the above singers would feel like Michael ft. someone imitating Michael lol.

I really don't have anything against Bieber or any of the other artists I mentioned, there are just other artists further up on my list in terms of people I'd be interested in hearing possible Michael duets with.

I have no issues with Justin Bieber. But I would not want to hear him singing on a song that Michael never intended to be a duet.

If Justin really loved and respected Michael he would stay away from any songs that Michael recorded

:ciao: memefan :give_rose:

No, I simply said what I meant and how I felt, no need to add to it  I appreciate eveyones opinion it doesn't have to agree with yours or mine, we are all unique and special because of this reason and I respect that. Hope you have a great day :bow::heart:

LOL...Wow Justin Bieber in the same sentence as MJ yet again. This issue is so OVER RATED! It's quite sad already...he is no where near MJs talent as a kid or adult star. He is a nice kid though but, Enough already.

Whats with the Bieber flood lately.

Why you discuss? Why you even pay attention?

Bieber should dedicate his next song to the MJ fans!

Some comments here :screwy:

Out of curiosity, when MJ was a similar age, was he ever labelled 'the new....' ?

Actually, I say go for it....So then maybe people will see the VAST difference between MJ and Bieber and STOP comparing the two...

Other than that, no thanks ...

:D

If he gets anywhere near MJ i swear to God imma buy 1000 water bottles and go on a rampage. Justin Bieber aint perfect for anything >: (

I don't want to hear any duets of unreleased material unless they were planned as duets. No offence to JB I'm not a fan and I don't want to hear him or anyone else on any MJ songs honestly, he should stick to his demographic.
