"Michael", a biopic about Michael Jackson, is officially happening.

If they do film at Neverland I wonder if it will just be external shots or the inside of the houses too.

Although bittersweet, it would be nice to show Jaafar dancing in the studio with the spotlight on him the way Michael did.

I'm also curious about his bedroom and if it's appropriate to show the audience the size of the room and the whole panic room etc to prove that nothing sinister was going on. I know it's on YouTube but it would be a great opportunity for the masses to see it via the movie.
I am afraid the whole operation of rebuilding Neverland is very time consuming and expensive, I also dont think the current owners would simply allow it. So I guess they will keep it relatively simple.

Neverland has been completely renovated in recent years... It's a $110m movie, I'm sure they can furnish one or two rooms!

I know it has been renovated, but that's different than rebuilding it as it was when Michael lived there. I was referring to the extent that they want to rebuild (a port of) neverland for the movie.

I still think this will be a full on Michael Jackson concert, they will be looking for extras to go wild in a reenactment of an MJ show or segments of it.

Imagine the Dangerous tour stage being built and they film Jaafar doing the toaster entrance with pyros, him on a cherry picker etc

For the fans this could be the closest they will ever get to experience MJ live where it seems authentic on a big scale. It would be amazing for those lucky to attend.

I'd worry about the amount of leaks though as there will be so many extras.

I think when you see some of the ground they'll be covering it's hard to imagine anything shorter than 3 hours. There will have to be periods of his life sped through just to get to the point though.

It's a biopic, not an anthology. It's not gonna cover his entire life. The point is not to cover his entire life, that's not even interesting.
Ngl I slightly envied the Beatles, they will have 4 parts biopic for each member directed by Sam Mendes on 2027. They even have a recent doc from Apple tv directed by Peter Jackson. Sigh, they have many movies as well based on their songs. WISH MJ has also (soon hopefully), their handler is quite impressive and have good impact to their legacy.

MJ deserves better, if only the Estate have efforted more. His docs should be available everywhere and all concert footage as well in 4k..

No one is gonna watch 4 biopics. Not all at once certainly. Unless it's just fantastic.

Meanwhile the Beatles made most of those movies ain't they.

Plus who the hell wants to watch a biopic on Ringo 😁, all 4 will no doubt intertwine but the quality will vary.

One big action packed monster of a biopic on a very interesting artist (MJ) is the way to go.

The casting of Fuqua as director screams that it's gonna be full on action packed as that's his genre.

The thing is two of the Beatles are still alive so they manage their releases better than if they were dead and some lawyer with no artistic sensibility took control of their estate.

literally no one has ever said that. Not even Michael.

People just point out that number his surgeries are highly exaggerated.

Michael never denied having surgery either despite people claiming he did. He talked about it openly in his book and again he only denied all the exaggerations people accused him of like his Eyes, lips, cheekbones and jawline. He stated he only changed his nose and put a cleft in his chin and that is the truth. Anybody who can't see that can't see past his skin color changing.
I'm not a plastic surgeon nor a specialist, but claiming he didn't have anything done to his lips is outright denial.

But then again, why does that matter so much to some of you? To me, whether Michael Jackson had 2 plastic surgeries or 40 changes nothing AT ALL. MJ suffered from body dysmorphic disorder and simply wasn't satisfied with his appearance. The number of procedures he underwent is completely irrelevant to me.

The fact is: he did change A LOT, and the reasons behind those changes should be addressed in the biopic.

Colman Domingo on filming the biopic:
‘Michael’“I’m having a good time with it, Right now I seem to be on the track of interrogating some of these real-life human beings. I want to find their humanity, I want to find their heart and their humor. It may go against public opinion sometimes, but I think that's my responsibility to find the complex version of these people.”

It’s been 6 years now since I’ve last been to the cinema because it is so damn expensive but I’m definitely watching this film in the cinema

The trial should also be shown in biopic and why Michael was acquitted so that many people change their image of Michael
