Estate/Sony felt their handiwork was so grand they placed the video on Vevo immediately using different camera angles and shots. Considering the issues the Vevo channel had with LNFSG solo and the
Bad25 homepage, I do not know if I should be amused or angered.

The dance break was hilarious IMO
Agreed!

So is no one missing that expression of emotion when you see an impersonator or hologram or whatever 'dance ' to STTR? There's dance and dance.
This is why I asked did anyone
feel the magic watching whatever that was on Billboard’s stage and I did not receive a response. I do not believe anyone can honestly say they felt any type of magic from Billboard compared to any performance of Michael Jackson live; including the lackluster performances from Michael during History that Kreen was to post (still waiting for those).

Jackson Family lawyer John Branca said the costly hologram was in the works since late 2013. He also told The Hollywood Reporter (presumably with a straight face?) that, "It's so important to experience Michael Jackson in a live setting."
Indeed to the bolded portion. If no one felt the magic, then the supposed purpose of this stunt as per the statement Branca made above (straight face or not) was not served.

There's more support for the new technology cause the possibilities are endless with this new thing (call it Hologram/CGI/or walala) while MJ's studio shots, unreleased videos etc... they already got that and just want to use it in a smart way for documentaries, videos and specials

Invalid comparison, considering that Branca's idea was to set this as a live performance of a never before released song.. it could have been a lot worse, plus they have high def shows from each tour, short film, various studio footage & more yet, you don't see anyone comparing posthumous projects here do you? no. There'll be more in the future, thing's will be developed further, this is just the beginning, you have to remember.. it's only been 5 years. That is all.

In fact the Spike Lee-docu was in television in many countries worldwide to best telvision-time and get also attention on the film-festival in Cannes. Did you expect it should be shown in a award-show?
Darkmed, Zakk, Annita, this technology was simply used for the promotion of a cd. There are many ways to promote a cd. Bad25 was promoted with the Spike Lee documentary which respectfully put the focus on Michael as an artist and the process of creating that art. We know that despite that effort, the sales of Bad25 were dismal.
I fear Estate/Sony took that as a financial lesson: the masses were not interested in the artistry of Michael Jackson so no need to promote it which is truly unfortunate. With Xscape, that respect was relegated to a 20+ minute dvd and short clips on YT. Not even a photo of Michael behind the microphone during a recording session of any of the eight songs. However; L.A. Reid, Timbaland, and Jerkins went on a media tour discussing Michael as an artist and the reasoning behind Xscape and that was amazing (and welcoming) to view.
The sales of the Bad concert dvd (did anyone ever learn how many units were sold?) showed the preference, a.k.a. profit, was in Michael performing regardless of the video quality. To promote Xscape, Estate/Sony created a performance that Michael did not do because that is where the preference seems to be. Even if it is not Michael Jackson, it can be billed as a Michael Jackson experience, a.k.a. performance and the masses will watch and maybe purchase a cd. The whole MJ
experience was a disrespectful spectacle in my view. I can create a list of what I found disrespectful however; I see no purpose in doing so. I will simply say I do not believe Michael would do anything done in that lackluster performance and I find it weird that some of his fans accept the portrayal of Michael as a lackluster performer.
Did it work? The charts will tell however; the ends do not always justify the means so it does not matter to me. Xscape did not have to be promoted at Billboard and surely not in that manner. Xscape was number one in 50+ countries
BEFORE this stunt. I truly hope this stunt never happens again.
If performances are that important to Branca, put the energies in distributing concert performances Michael actually completed at visual quality befitting Michael's performances. Put the focus back on Michael’s artistry where it belongs!
