Hey pierpento - Welcome to board. Thanks for the Italy, Spain, and Portugal info!
Thanks for the Germany certification info as well. I wasn't aware the certification level has changed.

Re: Brazil - When Number Ones was charting on this website, they listed the album as having been certified gold. Can someone else confirm?

Re: Japan - For foreign artists, the certification level is different and platinum = 200,000

Re: New Zealand - Mo_Onw4lk3r is a reliable source and I'm sure his information will pan out once the charts are published online.

Yes,
i remember that , but Joao (from Ukmix forum) sad that website isn't an official source for brasilian Charts and the certifications too are not official.

the only reliable source for Brasilian certifications is the apbd website.

Re: Japan - For foreign artists, the certification level is different and platinum = 200,000

Thanks , i didn't know it.

searched yesterday in the same page and The Essential appeared at #23. But right now it has disappeared! o_O I can tell you it's true, I see with my own eyes that Essential was on #23. I remember this because it was the same position that Australia.

Perhaps it was a mistake of them and they put the Australian Chart and later they edited it?

Thanks!!

Great news from Belgium.

THE ESSENTIAL enters in the Top 10.

In The USA

and NOs-DVD this week is #17 for the second week in a row (71 weeks in chart)

Thanks for the great news.... :D

In canada Essentials falls from 24 to 26.... :pth:

This is great. There are now seven countries where The Essential reached a new chart peak during it's second week. We can now add Spain (#25) and Belgium (#8 in Flanders and #4 in Wallony) to the list. Meanwhile, in Canada, the album reaches a new peak of #4 on the R&B Album Chart, therefore, you could say eight countries (but on a technicality.)

BTW, Canadians might be interested in knowing that The Essential has been the #18 album in Toronto for the second week in a row. The album even sold more than Alanis Morissette's Jagged Little Pill Acoustic in Toronto last week.

Hello
Everybody...

I am from Brazil and this is my first post. I have to say something to you: Here in Brazil since 2001 international CD's certifications are:

50,000 copies sold Gold
125,000 copies sold Platinum
250,000 copies sold Double Platinum
375,000 copies sold Triple Platinum
500,000 copies sold Diamond

So "NUMBER #1's" was PLATINUM. Michael Jackson is not very famous here lately. People don't like good things. They are most insade Hip Hop or Trash...
But it was a good selling. There are so many ilegal copies of his albums. This is the bigger problem in my country!

P.S. Sorry my bad english. I am just 17 years old and don't know how to speak too well. I am still learning to speak...

Bye

Essentials

1 week: 52

This is actually ok since it`s very hard to get the album - only few stores have the album and there are absolutely no promotion. It`s strange but some employes at stores told me that the album will not be released untill late august while other stores already have it.

World album chart (Unites World Chart):

Essentials moves from 23 to 19 :sarmoti

Over in Europe, the album dropped 6-14. Meanwhile, the USA R&B album chart shows the album jumped 64-50.

Surprisingly, France's The Essential sales don't count toward the Eurochart. That might explain why the album is not in the Top 10 of the Eurochart? As we all know, the album was #1 on the France Compilation Album Chart since it's not eligible for France's main album chart (since it's a greatest hits collection.)

Portugal #27 debut and Denmark's #52 debut didn't count towards this week's Eurochart position. They will count towards next week's position.

Still no chart positions from Austria, Czech Republic, Germany, Finland, Norway, and Sweden.

:flowers:

Do some of you know when essentials will be released in: Brazil, Germany?? These are huge markets with big effect on sales. And what about Sweden Norway, Mexico??

Release date in Japan: 24/8 - 05

Hey Guy - Do you think it's worth emailing the ARIA to find out why The Essential is not charting on the Urban Chart? Seems only fair right considering every other MJ release was eligible for this chart.

K, well, if anyone cares, I'm pretty sure Essential hasn't been released in New Zealand. I checked every music store I could find today and I saw every frigging Sony "Essential" there was except Michael.

Another point, The Essential is now the #1 selling album in France (all albums combined). Last week, it debuted at #4.

The Essential has been certifield Gold in France! (100,000 copies) The first certification of this compilation :D

I hope someone can confirm if it's true that The Essential is at #1 combining all French Charts.

Hi again! I've doing some research and I find the sales of the album & single chart 3 weeks ago (the week before the Essential was released). This is the result:

Singles sales (thanks to Amelias2 from CIF forum) :

It is very possible that Michael is at #1, if The Essential has sold 100,000 copies in 2 weeks! its has been certified gold so it must be true.

Wow, Michael in the Number One! I can't believe it! :sarmoti

In Denmark The Essentials falls to 64.............. due to lack of promotion and the fact that only few stores have the album..... I can`t belive this :banghead . Maybe it will be better!!
