All three of these superstars peaked in the mid-1980s-Jackson with Thriller, Prince with Purple Rain and Madonna with Like A Virgin. So which of these stars has sold the most albums in the Nielsen/SoundScan era? That would be Madonna, who has sold 25,995,000 albums since 1991 (placing her #31 among all artists). Jackson is next, with sales of 21,072,000 (good enough for a #49 ranking). Then comes Prince, with sales of 16,430,000 (he is ranked #90).

It's a little early in the year to say this, but I'm really hoping that Sony push the album hard in the run up to the halloween period. It's the best time to capitalise on Thriller and it's a real shame they missed the oppurtunity last year. They could still do a TV special, loads of adverts, magazine covers etc. If Mike doesn't have his album ready and on the way to the shops by then he could also take part. Maybe with the help of Halloween the album will increase sales heavily and move the up the 2008 worldwide chart (it's bound to be much lower - perhaps out of the top 10 - by then). It would be great to see it finish the year within the top 10 sellers worldwide for 2008.


It's interesting to see that Number Ones is now selling more than T25.
