Michael - The Great Album Debate

Yeah, those parts you pointed out sound like him to me, too...Not sure what song(s) they're from though...I agree about Monster sounding nothing like Michael....When I first heard it , I think I was more disgusted than I was with BN...Monster pretty much nailed it for me because it was the last Cascio song I heard out of the ones on the album, and it was sorta the last straw, you know? And this was even before I heard any comparisons or was even familiar with Malachi's voice....All I thought was, 'This is totally someone else...Someone else altogether'....I listened to the whole thing and just shook my head throughout the whole song...

WOW! That Stevie song...Sounds so much like lil Mike! That's some crazy shite right there!

the "oh oh oh" at 1:34 and again at 4:48 in the -6 version pentum just posted, that sounds like mj to me. Is that one of the copy/pasted parts? if so, which mj song is it from? i can't place it.

that's the thing. i can pick out specific parts that sound like mj, without knowing if i'm right, or without studying up on it. i have a gut reaction when i hear mj, that's why i trust my instincts. (ha, watch me be wrong about that part lol! even if i am, at least i'm willing to put myself out there and voice my thoughts and identify specific portions of the song).

monster sounds absolutely nothing like michael jackson. i don't even know how this sounds close. it's so off it honestly blows my mind. i think stevie wonder back in the day (like his earliest records, when he was still lil' stevie wonder) sounds more like michael jackson than this.

right? i still hear stevie, of course, i'm just saying it's CLOSER to michael (a young michael) than these crappy tracks.

It's from the video "GHOSTS" when he sings "TOO BAD" and shouts "hoooo!" (1:34)

4:48, I'm trying to figure out, it's just a one note sound though without voice.

god i love that video. 2bad reminds me of sonic 3, the launch base zone. hahaha, it always will.

where in the video is that "oh oh oh" from? i can't find it . . .

OH, and i meant 4:44, not 4:48. isn't it the same exact clip as from 1:34? it sounds like hold my hand, now that i think about it

AH, thanks pentum. so it is a copy/pastse

see, that's what i mean. i have a GUT reaction to real mj. i know when it's him. that's why i trust myself when i think the rest of the song sounds nothing like him. there's a huge difference. mj's a part of me, his voice takes up part of my brain, it's something i'll never be able to change.

edit: god, this just pisses me off. those tricky bastards.

Yes, I'd like to correct something, 1:34 comes from On the line, but 1:37 comes from Too Bad (0:56-0:57 and/or 3:38)

Listen carefully to your snippet Pentum, on 1:37 - 1:38, the shout comes from Too Bad.

Yeah, I feel the same....I know what I'm listening to...Take it in its simplest form...It's not him, and your gut is telling you so...i'd rather trust that than some corrupt record company...

Seriously.

Just go to like 1.45. Listen to "but they gunneh for teh monneh so teh fake et". Is it only me cringing everytime? How can someone think this is MJ...?

That part and 'mama say mama got you in a zig zag'....the way he says 'mama'..he goes, 'muuma'....can't stand it...it literally sounds like he's mumbling ...and making it obvious...

The phrasing is terrible too, I find...he's struggling to keep up...

Bumper, you're right, that part is from 2bad

why is it that only the ad libs sounds like mj? oh, cuz they're the only parts that are. i just think this is further proof.

i mean it when i say i haven't really studied up on the copy/paste parts, and i've probably listened to the cascio tracks a grand total of like 20 times (each), which isn't much at all. But i bet i could go through, and pick out each and every part that is actually mj--and i bet i'd be right. i'm not trying to brag or anything like that, i bet a LOT of us could do that. we ARE experts.

i just have to ask myself WHY i can specifically pinpoint instances that sound like mj out of the whole song, isn't that a huge red flag? in a real mj song, i don't hear mj go "oh oh oh" and say "ah, now THAT part sounds like him"--because the whole thing sounds like him.

and yes "gunnin so they fake it" is almost as bad as "heard he grew up in queens" ALL of monster makes me cringe. i hate lisening to this song.

That's what I was saying in my long post about audio forensics. Who could know MJ's voice better than us, fans who have been listening to him to such an extent that we could recognize a singly tiny note among other sounds. After all forensics are people who had studied for their particular branch, the question remains though, how familiar are they with MJ's voice. More than us? I doubt it.

^^ Exactly! I may sound arrogant, but yes, I AM an expert when it comes to Michael's voice...I don't care what anyone says....

@azsummergirl your 4:48 makes me think of processed sound from Threatened (lowered sound of the moving tomb stone) , but am still trying to figure it out.

p.s. I think I found it, wait a min please.

^^sorry hun, i meant 4:44, not 4:48. i waas talking about the same "oh oh oh" as earlier int he song, from on the line.

but if you find more, sweet!

And ya, arklove, agreed. i'm a smart person, but i'm no genius. i don't think i'm an expert on anything--except for michael jackson's voice. that i am an expert on. i could have a freakin PhD in michael jackson's voice.

All the falsetto parts at the end of Monster make me cringe too...gad...

starting at like, 4:05...

Ok, when you listen to Pentum's soundclound 4:48, there is a particular sound effect. It sounds like the one on threatened: 1:22-1:23.

Listen 1:22-1:23 and compare it with Pentum's 4:48:

Do you hear it guys?

^^Yeah, I hear it...I think I hear it right at the beginning of Monster, too....Right before he starts to sing...

I checked using Audacity, and you MIGHT be right. But it seems like the Threatened sound lies under the dark voice saying "Monster" and another sound. Weird, 'cause Teddy didn't work on Threatened but it would make sense to borrow some stuff from it, since Monster is copy of it.

You are right. Monster is clearly inspired by 2 BAD and Threatened. Even the lyrics. No wonder why Monster lacks originality.

Even the beginning of both Monster and 2Bad, the buildup of the instrumental...right in the beginning of both songs...sounds the same to me....you know what I mean?

ok, at great personal expense to myself, i have answered bumper's long-standing request to go through the songs and identify which parts sounds like michael jackson. funny how the people who actually believe mj is on leading vocals seem to not want to.

side note: doing this was PAINFUL. what are we even fighting for? these tracks are turrible.

:53 (ow)
1:38 (ow)
2:51 (ow)

KYHU--didn't hear ANYTHING that sounds remotely like michael until the "hoos" and "yeahs" at 3:43

Monster--this song has so obviously been sped up lol
:26
:40 (background shout)
1:09 (oh)
1;18(yeah ah ah)
1:28
2:45 (the background . . . hard to explain but i feel like i've heard it somewhere before)
2:49 ha
2:56 (hoo)
2:58 ha
3:06
3:08
3:16
3:18
(all the has, basically)
3:54 oh
4:21 (oh oh oh)

annnnnnd now i need to go listen to BoJ for about an hour to make myself feel better.

At 2:40 on Pentum's soundcloud I hear "don't" (it sounds Michael) in the background. It sounds pasted from somewhere and sounds extremely odd, as if its place wasn't there at all. Listen carefully and tell me what you think of it.

p.s. azsummergirl, that's already a start :)

p.p.s. At 3.01 3:02, before the rap by 50 Cent, I hear again a shout from 2Bad video. The song is complitely fabricated of ad-libs! Incredible.

^ Weird.... Sounds like the beginning of 'don't you like it'....What's with the pause there too?
