I think the forum looks better now. One suggestion: I think the Paris section should rather be Prince, Paris and Blanket/Bigi section - so all three children of MJ, not just Paris.
Tbh, I'm not a fan of combining the Michael Mania and the News section. All the threads they were sticky on Michael Mania such as the MJ chart thread, MJ unreleased songs threads aren't sticky anymore.
Love the new setup, and love the new threads as a result of.
I think the combining is OK because there are hardly any news any more, but yeah, those threads that were sticky should still be sticky.
Can you have a section for new MJ fans or those who have recently joined.
Fan forums are a daunting place for newbies.
IMO Prince deserves his own equal thread. He's not only going to college but he's set up a humanitarian group that's getting national attention and started a production co. Another tv show is in the works. Then I think it could simply be called "Michael's children". I don't see a reason to open a seperate subforum for each kid when the point is to make the forum less scattered in terms of too many subforums. At the same time it seems a bit unfair if Paris is somehow made special compared to the other two kids. Prince is doing his charity work, for example, which may attract less media attention and buzz than Paris' activities but isn't any less important - especially to fans IMO.
Please make "Your last MJ purchase" a sticky again?
Gaz, can I infer from what you're saying that visitor numbers are dropping too low??
If MJ fans aren't coming here (just about the only major MJ community on the net these days) then I don't know what you can do to attract more members, other than to branch out with boards for other artists in the hope that they come here. I can see why that idea might not be popular though. Perhaps you could appease the MJ fans by only targetting fans from artists who have either inspired MJ or who have themselves been inspired by MJ. Obviously you'd have most visitors by doing the latter.
Actually, I do have another idea. If there is for example a very active Chinese or Japanese MJ fan community, another option might be to diversity the site's user base by targetting specific language groups - add specific subforums where fans can communicate in their own language. I don't want to offend anybody...English is a very widely spoken language around the world, but perhaps the Chinese or Japanese fans may not be as likely to speak English as, for example, the German fans. Those guys are probably here already and if you introduced German language subforums you may fragment the existing community which wouldn't be desirable (IMO).
As a Chinese visitor, MKGenie has been invaluable over the years, with the information s/he has provided early on about upcoming projects. That particular poster happens to speak good English but could potentially encourage other Chinese visitors (assuming s/he doesn't already run their own Chinese language forum that would be harmed by MJJC's expansion in that area).
I saw the Paris thread. Will Prince have his own too?
Just checking. Does this mean that any new threads we make in News/Mania automatically go to Facebook and Twitter?
Yeah can we have a prince (mj jr) seperate thread aswell.or just one for both of the kids together would prob make it easier to navigate so not as many sub forums.
Not to keen on the m mania and news being merged.i like to go straight to see whats happening news wise. Rather than having to scroll through non news gen chat
I like the site in its present format and appreciate that Music, its in the biz has its own super forum independent of what it was in before. I am very pleased with the site otherwise as it is. I will honestly post 90% of the time in the lets talk about Michael part of it and rarely venture outside of this, except to that general area.
The only minor point I have, would be a system, where as soon as you long on, a page showing all the threads you have posted in recently shows like on two other forums I am on - prince.org and stampboards.com, as it is a bit hard to scroll through pages of replies to find yours.
Also if we could have more than 15 replies a page, prince.org has 30 and stampboards 50. We could get there by making the surround and page background more simpler as the rich format makes loading times slow for those of us not on fibre internet yet (Like me). The average page takes 20 or 30 seconds to download, whereas the simpler graphics on prince.org load immediately.
Also if we can actually show images in our replies in all threads would help, rather than having to divert people to other sites to look. Both photobucket (Less good now its all commercialised) and imgur offer these services.
Just some matters for contemplation.
You're talking about Matty and Tony there, right?Very happy, spent more time on this the last few days than ever. Talk so some of these clowns more than my actual real life friends ?
