Queen

George Michael's Ladies & Gentlemen sort of does the opposite. Because it features around a dozen tracks that didn't feature on albums, it feels like a double album to me.

Yeah but they're all legitimate GM songs. He had very few actual albums (2 with Wham! And 4 x solo (and L&G was before Patience), but he did a lot of non-album one off singles that were all hits so deserve a place on a GH compilation.

But Queen's GHIII had songs that Queen never released on any single or album.

Well yes, that is my point. I tend to agree with you about Queen III. It's milking it a bit.

Yeah & that's how it should have been released, one for hardcore only. Not a standalone release.

It makes me ANGRY!!!
It doesnt even have spread your wings, or scandal!!!

Also, I know it's not a Queen song but FM solo, but I found a new love for The Great Pretender this year. Keep playing it, and yes I do sing-along.

Of course the original by The Platters is also sublime.

Check out the version by The Band. Gorgeous. The singer Richard Manuel was battling an horrific depression and alcohol battle at the time too, making it a much sadder song

Panic! At the Disco paid tribute to Queen with a performance of "Bohemian Rhapsody" at the 2018 American Music Awards on Tuesday night.

The stars of 20th Century Fox's upcoming movie about the Freddie Mercury-fronted band — Rami Malek, Joe Mazzello and Gwilym Lee — introduced the performance from the stage of Los Angeles' Microsoft Theater, where the awards ceremony was taking place. The movie, also titled Bohemian Rhapsody, and directed by Bryan Singer, is set to hit theaters Nov. 2.

The film follows the band on its rise from infancy to superstardom, including Mercury's AIDS diagnosis. Malek plays Mercury and has said that Queen guitarist Brian May told him that movie brought him to tears and that Mercury would be proud of the project.

Onstage Tuesday night, Malek called playing Mercury a "gift and a tremendous honor," saying the band's "music and live performances are such an important part of rock history."

Lee added, "'Bohemian Rhapsody' is one of the most iconic and musically fascinating rock songs of all time."

The actors then threw to Panic! At the Disco at Qudos Bank Arena in Sydney, the band's first performance on the AMAs.

With rows of blue lights illuminating the band's performance, lead singer Brendon Urie began sitting at the piano, winking as he sang "Will you do the Fandango?" He hit the song's high notes and hopped on top of the piano for the uptempo section near the song's end.

The track, one of Queen's most popular and recognizable songs, was written by Mercury for the band's 1975 album A Night at the Opera.

Tracee Ellis Ross hosted the fan-voted awards show, which aired live on ABC.

Re: Rami Malek on The Tonight Show (October 29, 2018)

Watched Bohemian Rhapsody today... IMHO, they did a wonderful job! Well, it's obviously not a documentary. But overall idea of the movie and presentation is really on point. Very emotional and rather respectful.
I was so afraid of it to be scandalous... Very happy with the result.

I finally got to watch bohemian rhapsody the other day and needless to say i loved it . It was fantastic and rami did a fab job playing freddie im glad they picked him to play the role as freddie

Bohemian Rhapsody Becomes Highest-Earning Music Biopic of All Time

by Matthew Strauss Pitchfork
Bohemian-Rhapsody.jpg

The Queen movie Bohemian Rhapsody has become the highest-grossing music biopic of all time, Deadline reports. As of Tuesday, December 18, the film has earned $637,171,628 globally. The previous record-holder was the 2015 N.W.A biopic Straight Outta Compton, which took in $201,634,991 globally, according to Box Office Mojo.

Bohemian Rhapsody also broke records for domestic and international earnings, individually: The film grossed $181 million in North America and $456 million across the rest of the world. Previously, Straight Outta Compton earned $161 million domestically and $40 abroad.

Rami-Malek.jpg

Rami Malek has picked up an Academy Award nomination for his performance as Freddie Mercury in the Queen biopic Bohemian Rhapsody. The film was also nominated in the Best Picture category. His Best Actor nomination is the actor’s first ever Oscar nod. Other Best Actor nominees are Bradley Cooper (A Star Is Born), Willem Defoe (At Eternity’s Gate), Viggo Mortensen (Green Book), Christian Bale (Vice).

Bohemian Rhapsody was also nominated in the sound editing, sound mixing, and film editing categories.

Earlier this month, Malek won the Golden Globe for Best Actor in a Motion Picture. Bohemian Rhapsody won Best Motion Picture, Drama. The film is the highest-grossing music biopic of all time.

I read yesterday that since the Bryan Ssinger expose hit the Atlantic magazine, Glaad withdrew Bohemian Rhapsody nomination for best picture.
This is so unfair in my opinion. This article is nothing but unproven allegations in the time of #me too and they're bringing the whole film down with Singer.

Bohemian Rhapsody” isn’t done rocking just yet. Fox and New Regency’s Queen musical has officially surpassed $900 million in ticket sales across the globe, continuing its mighty run as the highest-grossing music biopic of all time.

As of Sunday, the Oscar-winning movie has generated $685 million internationally, along with an impressive $216 million at the domestic box office. Though it has been out of North American cinemas for weeks, the film is still playing in theaters in China and Japan. Outside of the U.S., “Bohemian Rhapsody” became a huge hit among Japanese audiences, where it grossed $114 million. It also resonated in South Korea, earning $76 million, and the United Kingdom with $71 million.

“Bohemian Rhapsody” uses the legendary catalog of Queen music to chronicle the life of Freddie Mercury and the band’s rise to glory. Fox spent a modest $50 million to produce the movie, making its surprise success all the sweeter.

It wasn’t just moviegoers who rallied behind “Bohemian Rhapsody.” The film also received love from the Academy, scoring four Oscars, including a win for Rami Malek’s portrayal of the iconic frontman Freddie Mercury. “Bohemian Rhapsody” also nabbed Golden Globes for motion picture drama and actor in a motion picture drama for Malek.

“Bohemian Rhapsody” is now Fox’s fourth-biggest movie ever, following “Avatar,” “Titanic,” and “Star Wars: Episode I – The Phantom Menace.” Overseas, is still the studio’s fifth-best release to date.

Thanks to “Bohemian Rhapsody,” Fox ended its storied run on a high note. Last month, Disney closed its $71 billion acquisition of 21st Century Fox.

Freddie Mercury and Brian May LIve Aid 1985.

They recorded "Put out the fire" 1982. It seems to me that it hasn´t been better, too many get shot including children. And sometimes children kill someone when they play with a gun In the land of the free.
The hero in the song is John Lennon who was shot 1981.

It´s a nice interview with Freddie Mercury.I post it here because he talks about his work with Michael Jackson from 14:40
.
He also mentioned in another interview that he thought "We are the world" was a beautiful song
It´s a pity they never found a time to finish the song they started to work together but they were both busy and lived far away from each other.

I hope this okay. Happy Birthday Freddie.

I can't believe its been nearly 30 years since Freddie's death. Even though he died before I was born, I still miss him a lot. I wish he was here to see the success of Bohemian Rhapsody.
