Hi guys, I was just wondering why I have to put the actual code in for my smilies instead of getting a smilie menu like I do on most boards.

I also don't see anywhere where I can set the time to my local timezone. Help?

And how do those reputation points work? I have accumulated about 7 but only one shows up.

I don't see a way to easily browse when posting pics either. Most boards you have that option.

Thanks for your help! :)

Smilies

You would have to:
1. Go to your control panel
2. Edit Options
3. On Miscellanous Options, switch from 'Basic editor' to 'Enhanced interfase'

That will show you the smilies menu right on the advanced reply option.

Time Zone

Similar procedure, You would have to:
1. Go to your control panel
2. Edit Options
3. On Date & Time Options, switch to the desired time zone

Rep system

That's a little more tricky, so I'll let Gary answear that one for ya.

Easy browsing? You'd have to elaborate a bit on that.

Thanks so much Daphnieas! That was a HUGE help! :punk:

About the "easy browsing"... with most boards you see a button for browsing for pics or attachments. I'm still not seeing that here, even though I am in "enhanced interface" mode.

I think it only shows your recently recieved rep points

I have a total of 36 points. At least 5 of those little green squares showed up within 5 days of each other, so if only the recent ones showed up, I would've at least seen those 5 on my posts, (during that time period.) I never did.

It's hard to understand.

Reputation points

Yeah, I've been here for over 4 years and had recently forgotten about reputation points and just remembered them about a month ago. I think the points is a great way for fans/members to keep the site going and keep everyone's enthusiasm up for MJJC and MJ.
I know every point I have I had to earn it, that is for sure. So, that is why I think it's a great system, it gives members enthusiasm and initiative to make their posts great.
I tried finding more info. in the FAQs but only found this

What is reputation?
Reputation is a way of rating users depending on the quality of their posts. If the administrators have enabled reputation, then the reputation icon will be visible in posts.
Reputation may be positive

, negative
or neutral

Negative reputation may only be given if the administrator has enabled this. Neutral reputation is only given when the person giving reputation does not meet the criteria set by the administrator to affect someone else's reputation.
How do I give reputation?
To give reputation, click on the reputation icon in the relevant post. This will reveal a form to complete with the reputation type and the reason for giving the reputation. If negative reputation is disabled then it will not be displayed in this form. You may not give reputation for the same post twice.
How do I know what reputation I have received?
You can view the reputation that you have received in your User CP (User Control Panel) where it is displayed at the bottom of the User CP page. Here you will see the latest reputation that you have received and whether this is positive, negative or neutral. Your total reputation will be shown as series of reputation indicators in your posts and profile. The more positive your reputation, the more positive icons will be shown. The more negative your reputation the more negative icons will be shown.
How much reputation is given? What is reputation power?
If the administrator has enabled this, the amount of reputation that each user will give (or take away if negative) is shown in the user's posts as 'Reputation Power'. The value of the reputation power is determined by the administrator and may increase over time depending on the settings they have applied.
What if I don't want anyone to see my reputation?
You can disable the display of your reputation by going to your User CP and selecting Edit Options. On this page you will find a check box labelled 'Show Your Reputation Level'. Un-checking this box will remove the display of your reputation and replace it with the Reputation Disabled icon. You can still give and receive reputation while your reputation display is disabled

:flowers:

---But I am still alittle confused as to why or how it works? For example a MJJC member could have 4 green bars and be at a 'higher' level than someone with 7 green bars or even at the same level, and I know if someone gives you a negative rep point than it subtracts according to the above, but I still can't figure it out exactly.

Anyone know? I'm just curious after all this time really. Perhaps this will help someone understand it? Maybe Gaz, qbee or ivy will be able to explain. :)

Many thanks everyone for answering the questions, regarding the pic's on other board's can you show me a for instance then I can look into adding this feature.

Hi Gaz :)
I think, perhaps the features were answered other than those wanting to understand the reputation points system, So I was online and thought I could add alittle of what I knew about it. Unless I am missing some other feature someone wanted to add?
The FAQs and qbee answered basically my only question about rep points and that is it depends on other things like perhaps your MJJC Journey and such.

is it possible to get notifications when someone thanks your posts or quotes them? (im sure it is, but i cant figure out how  Is there a kind soul out there, who can help?)

I don't think it is. :) Gaz will be able to tell you for sure, but I haven't seen such option.

I used to have this pic as the background image to my profile page. The image has been removed now (Photobucket). How can I upload another image?

Mneme, you should be able to post pictures. Make sure you have the Enhanced Interface - Full WYSIWYG Editing option enabled (Settings - General Settings - Miscellaneous Options). :)

Ans for you Simply, I wish I could help, but I haven't been able to find the profile customization buttons ever since the forum upgrade either. :( I have no clue how to re-upload it.
