The Discussion of MJ's Unreleased Tracks

Hearing a "new" Michael Jackson song in 2025 is just something else. Can't put it into words, just makes the world stop while the music is playing. Like hearing a little slice of heaven.

Such a great little groove.
That’s basically where I’m at. Even if I’m not a fan of the song, it’s just so exciting to hear something brand new in great quality, not to mention completely untouched. These are my favorite moments in this community—the excitement of hearing a new track, dissecting it, analyzing it, debating it.

Exactly! Yes, it's just a Bad era offcut essentially, but man, it's new MJ. Excites my ears more than anything new I've heard by currently active artists lately.

It's great to be able to get excited with the fandom and have something new to listen to until it gets boring LOL.

I'm still listening to "Boy No" non-stop, if this is a post trial song then it's easily the best one we've heard so far. I really wish there was a way for us to confirm the year it was recorded, we don't even have a hunch for it yet besides it incidentally using the same guitar as "Days In Gloucestershire", so maybe it could've been made sometime in 2004 or afterwards. If only Brad Buxer had social media...

Rather selfish of me, but my biggest hope is that we get enough full post Invincible songs leaked for a hypothetical post This Is It fanmade album. I love doing that kind of alternate universe thing, writing the lore and backstory is so fun.

I am such a nerd for this whole thread lol it's amazing. Hope everyone is well.

I'm glad you agree! I had you in mind for a project like that if it's ever possible, but I didn't want to ask! LOL

I have your mix of HT on right now. I seriously love it, to me it sounds how I imagine it would have after the 2008 rework.

So if I see all this: the 4 minute version of TYLA is real and the 9 minute version is just another fake? Kinda pathetic then to make another fake version of a real leaked song 😒

Insane what popped out the last weeks. Seems like most of the snippets of all these urban legend songs are real. I've said it for years and years how we still could have multiple CD releases of both unheard and leaked songs.

Has @Korgnex sold his whole collection? Must be 15 + tracks in circulation right now.

Would be cool if we got to hear at least 1 of these urban legend songs soon. Chicago 1945, CGYWOOM and TYLA are cool gifts though, not complaining.

Nah, I can see why they never released it in any of the posthumous projects. All the tracks they selected for Michael and Xscape are songs with finished lyrics that make sense.

With TYLA, even though the vocals are in good shape and the music offers plenty of room for improvement, the biggest problem is that the lyrics feel like an initial draft... almost nonsensical, loosely connected, and unusable for an album that's obviously meant to be commercial. It could only be released on Bad 40, or perhaps in fan-targeted box sets that don't carry the pressure of meeting expectations for charting hits, like The Ultimate Collection.

Exactly what I have been thinking since it leaked in full. Perhaps the best solution would be to combine the most sensical lines from both verses into a single first verse, and have a guest artist sing a second verse with newly written lyrics, a bit like JT on LNFSG, where we also got the original version with just Michael

I thought we were long past the wishes for a "proper commercial album". Such ideas are history to me. It's my opinion that we should rather strive for releases that aren't purely for financial gains, but to preserve the art he left. I know many people disagree with me on this, and it's rather off topic.

CDs/releases where it doesn't matter if the words are mumbled or don't make sense. It's about the art. It's all about the art now. At least that's what it should be.

It's ironic. They have had so many opportunities to get the people who exclusively worked on all the songs released, as well as songs that remain unreleased, yet they always avoided mostly such, and now, most of them have passed away, and the remaining ones won't be around forever either due to age.

You'll have only people who never even worked with Michael, "touching" his music.

I'm not arguing! Only sharing a quick word on the matter. I'm barely around here anymore. My English has become a shadow of its past. It's funny how it was the MJ world that always gave me a reason to write and discuss in the English language. Here on forums, or on Skype, heck even MSN back in the days.

This just pains me to read - no offense intended! It's like stomping on the art.

Since when did even the mainstream understand even 60% of what Michael is singing? Took years to master Jacksonese, remember? 😂

Don’t for a minute think that this is what I want to happen!
It’s all theoretical, since we all know the estate won’t release anything (outside of album anniversaries) that they deem to be ‘uncommercial’. All I’m saying is that even LNFSG, which has more concrete lyrics than TYLA, required a guest artist to be released as a single, so it would be assumed that any future release will require the same

Also, this is obviously what everyone here wants - but we aren’t naive enough to believe it will ever happen, hence my reply about making TYLA ‘commercial’
I get you. Maybe they will do something similar to what you suggested, but at least they might have learned to also release the original files. The world is changing fast. Less and less people are that interested in what's commercial and what's not.

@AlwaysThere I see you are still active. Do "we" have a list over all the leaked songs (full, incomplete, snippets) from the last few years?

Everything from the recents like Boy No, to 2-3 years ago where we had snippets like Water and Adore You.

That's the problem with these "unreleased songs" threads. The lists we create every now and then, disappears in a random page somewhere. I remember I did create a huge list some years ago when we discussed how many albums we could fill back then. A list with only unreleased songs we knew existed based on their full leaks from whenever as well as snippets.

I think what you wrote is something all fans would agree on, it would be the best outcome for all of us. But realistically, it's a utopian scenario that doesn't reflect the Estate's way of planning things.... We all know how important it is for them to focus on the commercial "appeal" of the songs, and of the MJ branding in general, even to the point of indirectly belittling other Estates, including Prince's lol.

Even though they used polite words in their old statement (from 2018-19?), what they clearly meant was:
"They release garbage, literally anything the artist recorded, even a burp, while we only select what's hit-viable or good enough for the TikTok youngster audience".

Sure, maybe they've changed their approach, and that's why they don't seem to think in terms of albums anymore, because in their view there aren't enough tracks with complete lyrics, strong material, etc etc. A few years back they said they were leaning toward releasing standalone singles now and then, precisely for the reasons mentioned above.

Any words from them saying anything about there not being enough songs, are pure lies. Maybe some, if not most of them, aren't really that strong, but they are def. full tracks and almost complete tracks enough for multiple albums.

Their problem is that they want to modernize songs and try making them fit the "current" trend, which is a recipe for failure when the man himself, or even most of the songs producers and writers, arent there to bless them.

When is Prince Jackson going to start calling the shots regarding the Estate? Isn't he like 25 now?
