The Discussion of MJ's Unreleased Tracks

And I believe, I might be wrong, but I recall Buxer saying that he developed Childhood together with Michael.
It could have been developed from a much earlier idea. Who knows, considering many tapes were pulled from the vault for review.

w korg

he sounds so different here. especially on the harmonies. so sad he didnt finish it
It seems like his singing voice had darkened yet again since Invincible. One of the questions that I’ll unfortunately never have answered is how would his voice have sounded like in his 60s.

yeah! Whats so interesting about this is it FEELS to me like how he sang on demos in the Thriller era. Gives me that exact same vibe with the harmonies and piano. Just makes me really sad honestly we really got robbed of this style

That "ooh" near the end sounds identical to the one in the Hold My Hand intro. Makes me wonder if they actually reused it from RWITY. I remember Taryll suggesting Michael should feature more of his own vocals on HmH since fans wanted to hear him, and it'd be very MJ to reuse an ad-lib instead of recording a new one.
I peeped that out too. It's also not present in the demo 👀

I had to come here to see if these leaks were real 🙌

Remember what I told you sounds quite a mature song a bit folky. Dare I say a bit Irish?

He could have came up with it during his stint in Ireland a few years earlier

Oh wow, two leaks! And one with full vocals!

"Neverland Landing" sounds very basic, but whimsical! This easily could've been on a follow-up to "Xscape" since it's pretty vocally complete. I like it!

"Adore You" sounds great! I could see this being a favorite had it been finished with lyrics and everything (do finished lyrics exist?). Hopefully another song like "Rocker" leaks soon.

Neverland Landing is my second favorite, super cute, very Disney-esque! I'd love to hear it without all that compression. Not really album material, but it would've been perfect for a Disney musical, like that one MJ did for Disneyland. It would've fit right in.

Adore You is one of the most interesting MJ instrumentals we've heard from those later sessions. I love the dark mood, the choirs, it could've turned into something really creative and anti-commercial, more on the artsy side.

World of Candy… yeah, let's skip that one. Now I get why @GYWOOM said that once it ends you're left with this weird emptiness, wondering why you just spent three minutes on it. To put it mildly, it's not good. Even for a demo the production sounds messy and unfocused. I prefer the Candy Candy AI mix...

Remember What I Told You is my #1. That melody stuck with me, and I know it's gonna stay in my head for a long time.

Do do do doo doo do
Doo doo dooo
Dooo
Dooooo....

where is the 2008 date from?
On December 28, 2022, Damien Shields confirmed on X that "Remember What I Told You" was recorded in Las Vegas in 2008, lasts ninety seconds, and is rather incomplete.

It's funny because to me he does sound different from his other songs from the 2000's but at the same time his voice sounds remarkably similar to his early eras, I'm trying to pinpoint what song the vocals at the end keeps reminding me of and the first thing that comes to mind is "Living Together" which is early The Jacksons. It's different but at the same time not really? It's kind of messing with my brain lol

Great song btw. Wish Michael was able to finish all those ideas.

Is it just me or in WoC towards the end they shifted the pitch of the vocals so they can resemble the voices of Oomba Loompas from the movie "Charlie and the Chocolate Factory"? Am I a conspiracy theorist?

Nope - Changes is such a good song with many surprises. Especially after (re)mastering.
Just my opinion didn't think it was that great unless there's some crazy version out there. I'm not exactly sure what you mean by "many surprises"

I was really hoping that "World of Candy" would've actually been better than what most people described it as, just thought people were being overly harsh. I think it had a lot of potential and... I'm just a bit disappointed. I don't know if it's "the worst MJ song" like the tracker described it (I get the feeling there's gotta be worse out there), but it's definitely not a song I'd willingly listen to again.

Also yea, that "Candy Candy" AI mix actually makes it sound good lmfao

Don't forget that the leaked version has heavily edited vocals. It sounds so much better when original.
