I'm so thrilled to have my 'Michael' album, that I took a picture with it. I'm even making my "bad" face. Get it? Cuz it's Michael Jackson... never mind. >_>

LOL!!!!!!!!!!

LOVE ur mj siggy btw. royalty!

I had pre-ordered through Amazon around the time it was announced and the CD JUST arrived in the mail today - 6 days after the album dropped. I am never pre-ordering again because what's the point? On Saturday I could wait no longer for this CD so I purchased one from a Polish music shop on Manhattan Avenue in Brooklyn. I'm giving the Amazon one to my mom.

Anyhoo....overall I'm enjoying the album. My favorite songs are "Another Day" and "Much Too Soon". I love the bass line on "Hollywood Tonight" and "Behind The Mask" is growing on me. I'm afraid I'm not feeling "Best Of Joy" or "Keep Your Head Up".

I love this thread :) I can't stop listening to the album. thank you Michael!

Still don't have mine :-( - it shipped from Sony store USA to Canada a week before it released, but no CD in hand (only the direct download). USA to Canada regular mail is really slow these days! (i had trouble with other stuff recently sent). Must be stuck in customs or something.

But based on the direct download, I love it. Will have more thoughts later.

Love the positivity in this thread, such a welcome change. I can't stop listening to the whole album, I really cant. I think its great
and there isn't a song on there I don't absolutly love.

Sophielo- I know I love the positivity ! HOORAY! And I loooove every single song! HE HE GO MICHAEL!!

Just listened to the album again and I have to come on here to say again how much I love it! I liked it to begin with but it grows on me with each new listen. Some observations.

Monster: Love this song, especially Michael's "Ha!". It has an infectious beat. I think it is my favorite of the genre, along with Is It Scary.

I can count on one hand the number of albums I listen to in their entirety. This is one of them. Thanks Michael for continuing to create. You were and always will be the best.

Yes, I love Monster, the HA!! parts are awesome, but the whole song is just addictive, and I also loove Is it Scary!

This is the very first album of Michael's that I listen to the entire album in its entirety w/o skipping any tracks. Love it!

Ok, had the album a couple of days and have had the chance to listen to it before leaping in and making rash judgments. It's a far better album, in my opinion (I'll use that term a lot in this "review"), than Invincible. It's hard to think of this as a "Michael Jackson" album though, because part of what made a Michael album a Michael album is that you could feel the work put into it, regardless of your thoughts on it. Michael was meticulous in how he constructed his albums, and as much as I enjoy this album, part of me can't help but think, "Would Michael have chosen this song"? Anyway ...

1. Hold My Hand feat. Akon.

A song I wish Michael had released when he was alive, because using someone who is considered "young and hip" like Akon would have given him a fresh, modern sound for todays market while retaining what made Michael, Michael. Sometimes I think Akon is a little too intrusive on this track, but on the most part it does sound like an upbeat and refreshing duet that has the ability to get the toes tapping on the train journey to work.

2. Hollywood Tonight.

Two tracks, two upbeat songs but this one is far faster paced and has an addictive beat to it that gets your shoulders popping within seconds. Invincible was, in my opinion, far too slow an album. I like Michael's ballads and heartfelt songs, but Michael's music has always in my opinion been about fast paced tracks that make you want to get up and dance.

3. Keep Your Head Up.

The first slow track on the album, and the first plagued with rumours that the vocals are not Michael Jackson. I'm sorry, if this is an impersonator then he's doing a damn fine job, because there's some trademark Michael vocal talents in this track. I constantly use 2000 Watts from Invincible as a reference track, because had that song been on this album we'd have people claiming it wasn't Michael singing. This song is also upbeat, but a little too slow for my liking ... but that's down to my music taste and preference for faster, more upbeat tracks. This is however, a very comfortable and relaxing easy listening track.

4. (I Like) The Way You Love Me.

Love the intro. Absolutely brilliant. Having Michael "count in" the drums is a nice touch, and adds a little character to what is a great easy listening track. This track is just so happy and carefree, it actually brings a smile to your face while listening to it.

5. Monster.

Favourite track on the album. Bar none. I f**king love this track, and it's by far my most played on the album. Again, this is the second track plagued by the accusations of being sung by an impersonator, and again his voice is nowhere as deep as 2000 Watts. For me personally, when listening to a classic Michael track, I can "see" him dance in my head ... and at certain points in Monster I can see the shoulders popping, the fingers clicking, the neck snapping, the leg kicking. The only thing I found odd was having a song on a posthumous album with the lyrics, "He's a Monster", because some haters I know have already mocked that Sony are using his own songs to diss him. However, brilliant track, and again having a modern artist like 50 Cent on there adds a little "cred" with the younger, newer audiences.

6. Best Of Joy.

Back down to Earth with a slower paced track that keeps in tone with the likes of (I Like) The Way You Love Me in being very careful and innocent sounding. I like how this these tracks sound "happy".

7. Breaking News.

The intro. Oh dear God, the intro. It sounds like a demo or early version of something considered for the intro to Tabloid Junkie. However, with this being the third track on the album facing allegations of being performed by a impersonator, I have to admit that this song is the one which sounds the most "over processed". At times I can hear Michael's growling vocals during the chorus, but the verses are the most questionable in my opinion. As a song, it's fast paced but not as fast as Monster, but I find that I skip this one more often than any other track.

8. (I Can't Make It) Another Day feat. Lenny Kravitz.

Gorgeous modern, slow paced built up with a minimal beat that hints at what's to come with the chorus, which blasts into life. Another of my favourite songs on the album, with vocals on display which do no more than help fuel the arguments around the other three impersonator tracks because Michael's vocals on this are fresh, invigorated, and aggressive during the chorus. Great track.

9. Behind The Mask.

Oh my. Ohhhhh my. I was born in 1979, I love 80's music, I love 80's movies. So the live crowd effect and saxophone opening on this was good enough, but when the beat kicks in? Sweet Jesus, eargasm. This song deserved a place on Bad, it's that good and it's got the sound of that era, it would sit perfectly alongside Dirty Diana or Another Part Of Me. Some have called the synthesiser lyrics cheesy, but it just adds to the charm and character of the song. It is easily the most out of place song on the album, some could even argue that it dates the album or should have been a bonus track, but taking into account that it's a cover version, it's just superb.

10. Much Too Soon.

The slowest and somehow the saddest song on the album, because to me it sounds like a goodbye. It's a very sombre ending to what has been, in the main, a very upbeat, fast paced, and happy album.

Favourite Tracks:

Monster.
(I Can't Take It) Another Day.
Behind The Mask.

I can't stop listening to this wonderful album. And I notice that while there were several songs that caught my extra attention from the first listen (like Best of Joy and Monster) and I listened to them more than others, now I tend to listen to Behind the Mask on repeat. And it's like that with every song - every day I have a new favorite! :D

Thank you Jmie for this. LOVE IT!! I just dream I was being hugged by Michael ooohhh how divine that would be!

I've recieved my album today but I've got mixed feelings.... I wanted be good for environment (and to save some money) and I've ordered an eco style copy (a biiiig mistake)
it's cheaper but without the booklet (!!!) :(
of course I'm going to buy a traditional one .. I NEED to have this booklet!

I got two copies today (one from HMV which I'm listening to, and one from MichaelJackson.com which is sealed, I won't ever open this one) and I absolutely love the album. My favourite tracks are Hold My Hand, Keep Your Head Up and Monster. I love the others as well, but Much Too Soon is too slow for me and will have to grow on me a bit.

i like the new cd a lot, has grown on me more and more with each listen....also think the itunes lp booklet is really cool! :)

This album is simply FANTASTIC! Got great vocals and music. Far far better than "Invincible". This is a must own. I bought it the day it was released and I still listen to it everyday! Must listen tracks>>>>> Another Day, Behind The Mask, Monster, Much Too Soon, Hollywood Tonight, The Way You Love Me.
I think the only other recent album which had so many hits is Gaga's Fame. I'm happier because this album got fantastic vocals by MJ and music to back it.

I still don't get it why this couldn't sell over 500k in it's first week(in US). Lack of promotion????

Got mine in the mail Christmas Eve! what luck! Happy Holidays everyone!

Invincible is a million times better.

Invincible is a million times better.

In your opinion.

There is a distinct lack of fast paced, "typical" Michael Jackson songs on Invincible as far as I'm concerned.

Aside from Threatened and You Rock My World (which incidentally I had played at my wedding reception as a tribute to my wife), which are the two best "fast paced" songs on Invincible, there's too many slow tracks for my liking.

I enjoy hearing a slow song by Michael now and then, but for me he's always been about music that makes you tap your feet, pop your shoulders, and nod your head without you even knowing it ... and tracks like Hollywood Tonight, Monster, Another Day, and Behind The Mask certainly do that. "Michael" has just the right mix of slow paced tracks mixed among the faster ones.

The only thing Invincible has going for it above Michael is that the man himself worked on it. :(

When I first got Invincible I hated it because I too felt that there were too many "slow" tracks. Today I can say that it is one of the few albums I can play in its entirety.

My biggest complaint with "Michael" is that I felt that there was a lack of songs that make you want to dance. There isn't anything that I really enjoy "jamming" to while driving other than "Monster". Other than that I personally feel that the tracks are a bit too slow and boring...at least when it comes to driving which is where I enjoy listening to something a little more hard hitting.

With Invincible you had Unbreakable, Heartbreaker, Invincible, Threatened and You Rock My World. They aren't really hard hitting but it is something I can dance too. Those are all tracks that I can't help but picture MJ dancing too and I myself can not help to want to dance every time I hear them. Just picturing the robotics he could have done to Heartbreaker...ugh.

Anyway despite our differences of opinion I do indeed agree in saying that I wish we could truly get a new MJ track to really dance to. Something that stands out amongst the rest and is a "hit".

I got the cd as christmas present from my sister. And I didn't gave her anything. I'm such a bad brother.
I knew she'll gave me the cd, cause we talked about what we want for christmas. I asked her many times what she wants and she always said "i don't know" or " nothing". I didn't have any idea what to give her this year.

P.S: i like the album.
