The Official 'Michael' Bio-Pic Thread

I completely disagree about moonwalk. I don't think it looked very impressive on Victory Tour but it did improve during the tour (compare Kansas to later shows). Then it got better on Bad Tour 87 leg but still wasn't the best and he finally perfected it in 88. Just my opinion.
I hate his moonwalk in Bad tour he was forced and heavier, in Victory he seem to fly lol, agree to disagree here, imo it's night and day.

I just read an article that claimed Antoine Fuqua is refusing to cut a 9 minute scene that studio fears will "alienate" the fan base from the film.

The 9 minutes in question are reported to be a near minute by minute account of Michael passing away.

I've lost the article and to be fair, it was very tabloid. Just wondering if anybody else had heard this?
If it's true, then I hope Antoine Fuqua will win this one. If Prince and Jaafar are okay with it, then I'm okay with it. Michael died in very unique circumstances and all we have to document his death are tabloid documentaries that dehumanize him. Hopefully the movie can show it in a way that will humanize him and treat it with empathy for once.

If there is Part 2 then it should end like that and not this movie.

If the movie features any unreleased songs, it has to be because those songs add something to the movie, not just because they want to throw an unreleased song in there to release it as a single. The biopic will still be watched 30 years from now, so it needs to be timeless, and adding a scene just to try and get a quick hit with an unreleased song is not how you make a timeless movie. If there are unreleased songs that are perfect for certain scenes in the biopic, then by all means use them. But don't create a scene that would otherwise not really be important to the story just so you can play an unreleased song and try to sell it with the movie.

In the teaser, Hot Street is pinned to the bulletin board alongside Billie Jean and Beat It. This shows that the song is not entirely meaningless.
I’m not talking in terms of releasing now, I’m saying the song wasn’t strong enough for Thriller.

The inclusion of Hot Street, in fairness, would be pretty viable. MJ definitely campaigned for, and wanted it on the album. So it's not like a total shoe horn.

If they start talking about Lovely Way or Can't Get Outta The Rain then we'll have a problem LOL

Are you trying to say CGOTR is not a joyful song packed with positive vibrations coming from a very youthful Michael Jackson and therefore alone deserving a place in the movie??

Can't Get Outta The Rain is really the ending of the long version of You Can't Win from The Wiz. Mike isn't Al Jarreau, who released entire songs of only scatting.

With Hot Street this year, there is a realistic chance that Michael could place a Top 10 single in the US Billboard Hot 100 in six different decades.

I'm trying to say it shouldn't be shoehorned into the movie when it was (as far as we know) never seriously considered for Thriller.
That may very well be true, but both CGOTR and EODTR are fun songs of a youthful Michael that are quite unique. In adulthood he managed to create the same feeling with Eddie Murphy.

Wait... how does this work if the movie is supposed to wrap it up with the Bad tour? And if indeed they have the footage - was it planned to have a two-parter from the very beginning?

Sounds very fake

If they did film anything like that then it would probably be used in a 2nd film and not this one, they've made it pretty clear that this film is about his rise to fame.

I personally don't think they'd include something like that, though, just doesn't sound believable to me.

His passing stopped the world from spinning. This would be a suitable and powerful way to immortalize that momentum and to recapture that had it not been for Murray's extreme and unimaginable irresponsibility... we wouldn't be talking about this movie today.

Unfortunately I believe MJ was destined to die young due to his lifestyle, addictions and demons. He was very troubled in his later years.

Even if you remove Murray, the end result would still be the same - just in another way.
