The Official 'Michael' Bio-Pic Thread

Richard, can I call you Rich? You're in the UK right? Where abouts are you? I'm guessing you still haven't seen the movie?
Yeah, you can... Yes I am. These days I'm about half an hour from Liverpool. I actually have 4 Imax cinemas within an hour of my house, it's just that this isn't an MJ release and so I'm not particularly bothered in going to see it. It's literally just a cash-in by people who mostly never met him, being told what to do by an estate who are just looking after their own income streams. And you wouldn't believe how much I don't care about their income streams.

I was at TII on opening night, saw Moonwalker at the cinema, saw Captain EO at Disneyland, got The Wiz, etc. but this film is different to those.

Let's meet up and watch it together, I'll pay! Let's start week three off strong. I genuinely want to know your opinion of the actual "product"
I'm sure I'll end up watching it at one point, but I'm in no desperate rush. I'm sure some parts of it are well made, but on the face of it, it's too incomplete and has too many flaws to be seen as a serious biopic. I expect more from the films I watch. If the artist isn't involved, the film has to be balanced and objective. Warts and all.

Furthermore, I don't have to pretend to be shocked at how good the film is, or to keep reminding everyone that MJ is achieving "unprecedented" success. And I certainly won't be offended and go into a rage if another film is more successful than this one. None of that is under my control, none of that reflects on MJ, and none of that has any affect on my life.

Don't take it personal, I had that kind of conversation too.
Something I really like about this forum is how knowledgeable and supportive people are about mj (except for a troll now and then), with experts in different areas, from personal life questions to unreleased songs to stats etc. And with different personal perspectives.
Definitely. People are always going on about groups being better when they're more diverse, and yet paradoxically people these days seem to be far less tolerant of opposing views.

Even more amazing considering Michael's message was one of peace, harmony and acceptance. For those that haven't heard the first 30 seconds of this:

So we can talk about questions and things that seem contradictory or might cast "shade" at first sight, and that we can't discuss anywhere else where haters are always around (And there have been very hard to read critical threads here). From the group someone always has a fact or viewpoint to share that helps to understand
Exactly. Just because I disagree with somebody on one point, it doesn't mean I will disagree with them on all other points. And it doesn't mean I hate them. It just means I disagree, no more, no less.

It's just a natural part of being a mature adult. No need to try to shut every conversation down just because it doesn't go your way.

I truly feel we must keep this quality alive and 🙏stop calling each other out or force our worldview on each other
Indeed. It's a discussion board, not a unanimous agreement board.

As I say. I don’t see other artists fans dissecting the success of their favourite. They celebrate it. I just find it rather odd.
You may be on to something. Beatles fans are Beatles fans because they like the music. They don't feel the sense of loyalty that some MJ fans seem to. They don't feel the need to jump to Paul McCartney's defence every time he makes a mistake, they admit he's written some bad songs, etc. They go to watch a Beatles film with an open mind, not knowing if it will be a good or a bad film, and then afterwards they debate and discuss it on merit.

Would be great if the MJ community could do the same.

Surel that will affect the amount of people who pay to go and watch at the cinema?
We're in a transition. At this point the movie industry is making it up as they go along. I'm sure Lionsgate is doing everything they can to make the largest profit possible. They're a professional business. I can only guess they did market research and they think this timing is going to work best for them.

Question - is the issue around including the 1993 allegations because they cannot 'dramatise' members of the Chandler family or because they can't discuss the allegations at all?
As I was saying before - it's irrelevant if you simply change who "they" is. The settlement doesn't apply to my movie company. I can make a film about any topic, and including any members of any family.

Basically, the settlement doesn't stop anything if you don't want it to.

Had my third round of chemotherapy today and, when I come home to rest, seeing things like this really cheer me up. 👍🤗

Thanks for posting Lilloue 👌
How nice is this. Glad something can make you smile right now. Wishing all the very best for you.

Here is a video of kids dancing to "Billie Jean" in their classroom. I hope you enjoy it. They're so excited. Kids love Michael.

Hi MJ5,

I think it’s correct to say;

“These are the figures ‘provided’ up to May 5th.”

Some of them have not been updated since Sunday May 3rd 👍
