Thriller 40th Anniversary

I am very happy that I am one of the fans that did not succumb to downloading Thriller outtakes so hearing any in top quality and for first time will be good.

Not long now till we get to know first track.
 
Starlight in good quality would be nice.

Alle the leaked songs would be nice to have too.

The Toy and the original version as MJ left it of Behind the Mask would be great too. - That alone with the 4K version of Thriller would make T40 a great release already - all the rest is just bonus.

If we get 1 or maybe even 2 brand new songs we've never heard - and maybe some titles we have never ever heard of, that would be amazing. But I don't expect that.

To be honest, I would also prefer if they release all finished songs, Like Abortion Papers and Price of Fame on a brand new album and not an anniversary album. So I do not expect finished and releasable songs on T40.

I do not understand why the original solo MJ demo for TGIM is not on the digital disc 3, I miss that one.
 
When they'll unveil the first title, will they also put a 30 sec preview online?
 
Here's what I think the track list will look like:

1. Carousel
2. Nite Line
3. Hot Street
4. I Never Heard ('This Is It' Demo)
5. Got The Hots
6. She's Trouble (Demo)
7. Starlight ('Thriller' Demo)
8. The Girl Is Mine (Demo)
9. Behind The Mask (Demo)
10. Don't Matter To Me (Demo)

And I think they will most likely announce Hot Street tomorrow, since it's arguably the strongest outtake that we know of.
 
I have a question about I Never Heard (This Is It demo) - the story was MJ took the tape and ran. (he was almost accused of stealing the tape with the song)

SO - if that's true, how would there be a demo version of the song? If it's the same vocals but the only difference is a slightly different music arrangement I am not very interested really. - If there is a different take with different vocals I am very intrested.

The Girl Is Mine - MJ solo demo would be great. I had it on the TGIM 2008 single, but I no longer have it in my iTunes, so that would be very nice.
Behind The Mask demo would be great. I love the energy and the song - so a version without the live WBSS screams, fans and the woman screaming would be nice.
Don't Matter To Me demo - does a version exists where MJ sings some verses??
 
I never heard exists with different vocals. The snippet that Paul Anka played on TV featured a different take iirc.

I'm also curious about Don't Matter To Me and if it was just an incomplete track that wasn't usable. I assume that's why they allowed it to be used on the Drake track, but who knows.

Either way, like you said, it'll be everywhere whenever it does get announced.
 
I think a best case scenario for the tracklist might be:

01. Behind the mask
02. Hot street
03. Nite line
04. Human nature (demo)
05. State of shock/Victory (with freddie mercury)
06. The Toy
07. Starlight
08. Nite line
09. Chicago 1945
10. Don't matter to me (demo)
 
Human Nature demo would be nice. Such a beautiful song.

Oh I'm on about the leaked one, the low pitch one.

They should focus on stuff "kinda" released, like Don't matter to me, the Toy (demo of best of joy), Behind the mask, State of shock

And one or two completely new songs, like Chicago 1945 and Victory.

I think this would be a solid layout. If they felt so inclined, they could even swap the “Beat It” demo with “Carousel.”

I just think in 5 years time, having Billie Jean/Beat It/Thriller available in pristine 4K will be more important and better for MJs art than releasing some unfinished songs.

If Thriller 40 looked like this, I'd honestly be happy:
- Disc 1, original album, crisp master
- Disc 2, blu-ray of the short films & bonus footage where possible, Making of Thriller in 4K

I just came here to say that, the Facebook page was updated with the following piece:

After hearing the original instrumental recording of this song by the group Yellow Magic Orchestra, Michael reached out to them to ask if he could create a version of the song with lyrics. They readily agreed and Michael wrote the lyrics and recorded the demo which he played at a listening session at his home studio attended by Quincy Jones, Rod Temperton and Greg Phillinganes at which Michael also played the demos for “Billie Jean”, “Beat It” and “Wanna Be Startin’ Somethin’”. Unfortunately, “Behind The Mask” didn’t make the cut for the Thriller album and, although Michael worked on the track over the years, a finished version wasn’t released until the Michael album.
