Interesting how all this happens after he is dead. John Branca's palms must be itching.

thats only usa. like the thread title says.
thriller 'was' the biggest selling album between 1984-1999. my question is, what happened around 2000 that maked the eagles albums the best between 2000-2009. the eagles were never present since the 70's. right?
so why should there are sales in the 90's or 00's??? i mean, hey, michael always was in the media. had concerts, albums, PR.... and the eagles should sold more units each weeks. what the hell!?!?!?

only question, cause we know that these sales are fake.

In 1995, The RIAA had the 'music club sales' at the big total anf the greatest hits of the eagles got like 5 million more with this add. Mike got a lot too but not that much.

Are these numbers for the US only? What is Michael's status of albums sold around the world? He has to be close to the top. I don't think some of these artists have influenced the entire world like Michael has. Isn't Thriller the best selling album of all time? I am Canadian so that is why I am asking.

1 - Beatles = 346.500.000 (12/2007)
2 - Michael Jackson = 205.500.000 (09/2008)
3 - Pink Floyd = 193.700.000 (02/2008)
4 - Elvis Presley = 187.000.000
5 - Madonna = 185.300.000 (01/2008)
6 - Elton John = 177.200.000 (01/2008)
7 - Queen = 170.100.000 (09/2008)
8 - Rolling Stones = 169.100.000
9 - U2 = 166.400.000 (02/2008)
10 - Led Zeppelin = 165.500.000 (01/2008)

So theses sales are before MJ death. Now the detailed sales :

I'd prefer that people would listen moe to other albums instead of Thriller and Off the Wall... I don't think those are anywhere near as good as Bad, Dangerous and HIStory...

Why are people saying that those sales figures aren't true?. Is that posible?, isn't that a serious website or organization or whatever it is?.

Nobody knows how much anything has sold. Some albums aren't counted as sales, such as record club sales (12 albums for a penny), cut out albums, low budget re-releases, bootlegs, albums that break during shipping or get stolen, CDs sold on TV commercials or infomercials, promotional copies, giveaways, etc. In many cases record labels either don't report sales or undercount or overcount sales. The RIAA doesn't do an audit, they just go off of what the record labels tell them. Many stores don't have Soundscan, and with the ones that do, Soundscan doesn't always count each sale. Before Soundscan, sales were estimated off of what was shipped, reorders, and returns. Some small stores purchase CDs from a big place like Best Buy and resale it. If the 2nd store has Soundscan, each CD is counted as 2 items. So if I buy 10 copies of an album and resale it, it will be counted as 20 albums sold although it is really 10 CDs. Also multi-album sets are counted as individual CDs, not 1 set. So if a box set with 4 CDs in it sells 250,000 copies (USA), it will be considered as selling a million and going platinum, but a single CD has to sell 1 million to be platinum. So none of it is accurate anyway.

In 1995, The RIAA had the 'music club sales' at the big total anf the greatest hits of the eagles got like 5 million more with this add. Mike got a lot too but not that much.

no. thats not true. michael got nothing. only the eagles got 8 millions!!! for 2 years! totally weird. and false.
i made this a few days ago...
sure, i need more infos. i also want to know the sales for each year. if someone have more infos???

am5mox.jpg

and whats totally weird is that the eagles sold 1 mio record each year between 1997-2002. these liars. only to show how racist they are. i hate them for this!

Some of the members of The Eagles started out as the backup band for Linda Ronstadt around 1969. The Eagles were one of the most popular groups of the 1970s, even during the disco days of the late 1970s. That infamous "Greatest Hits" LP was released by Geffen Records without the band's knowledge or permission because they were taking too long to record an album (which wound up being "Hotel California") and the band was very angry about it. They broke up in 1980, and then reunited in 1994 and has been touring off & on ever since. They released their 1st album of new material since 1980 in 2007. In mid 1980s, there was a really popular song & video called "The Boys Of Summer" by Don Henley. He's the drummer for The Eagles.

Listen I love Michael as much as anyone on this board, always have and always will. I'm not a big poster on here but i've been here every day for the last few years looking. You guys can sometimes be hysterical. Why do the people that do the classifications have to be 'racist' and 'liars'.... why would they lie, what's in it for them. Thats why MJ fans come of as being hysterical. Whether we like it or not the Eagles do have their place in musical history. The classifications don't lie. Remember they just completed at 100+ date world tour in the last year. They aswell as MJ had a come back and it was a very sucessful one. (see here http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Long_Road_out_of_Eden_Tour ). MJ is our king, we love him and will always be number one. No popstar comes close, but to say the people that give the classifications are lying or are racist is just plane hysterical. American MJ fans have been saying for years that it was impossible to find a record store properly stocked with his cd's for years. Maybe thats why he wasnt able to sell a million copies of thriller a year for the last few years.

sorry, thats all bullshit.
look at the statistics and sales. tell me, what happened that they are sold 8 mio copies in 2 years???
no album can do this after 20 years. thriller can't do this.
btw, they only sold 900,000 in this 2 years.
you dont get it. they are rasists, cause he is black. we have that for more than 20 years now. ^^

USA LOVES MICHAEL JACKSON. The States are full of every race under the sun. Americans traveled the world to see Dangerous and HIStory Tours. Sadly Racism is everywhere in the whole wide world and I hope that soon changes.

Thriller should soon be certified 30x platinum in USA shouldn't it?

I thought that it becomes Diamond when it gets 10xPlatinum???????

Thriller should soon be certified 30x platinum in USA shouldn't it?

no. maybe next year. i think mid or late next year.
but believe me they will put the eagles first up to 30 or 31. to manipulate that again. like they did in the last 16 years.

so there is a proof that the eagles didnt sold 17 million copies in the soundscan era. 1991-2009.

http://pulsemusic.proboards.com/index.cgi?board=gmn&action=display&thread=63432&page=1
the report is from soundscan. but why is thrilller not on that list? it must have sold around 6 million copies.

the eagles only sold 5.270.000 copies between 1991-2008. not these 17 million copies.
so the max sold units of the eagles greatest hits is 17 million copies, not 29 million. THATS THE FACTS!!!

That didint include MUSIC CLUB SALES !!!! They added music club sales of The eagles in around 1995 and it was a lot.

Why does anybody care about this? I really doubt Mike or the members of the Eagles (or the general public for that matter) sat around and stressing out about who's ahead.

MJ said in an interview 2005 that there is a conspiracy to underestemate his album sales in USA...and this is the proof of what he said.

The RIAA's second certification of shipments of the Eagles' "Their Greatest Hits" didn't occur until August 1990, when it certified the release as 12 times platinum. The RIAA couldn't immediately explain why the album wasn't certified at earlier platinum milestones, or why it was next certified at 14 times platinum in December 1993, and for 22 times in June 1995, despite U.S. sales of only 919,000 during that period. When the RIAA certified "Their Greatest Hits" as 26 times platinum in November 1999, it unseated "Thriller" at the top of the RIAA's all-time ranking.

Thriller from 1984-1990 only sold 1 million copies!!!

woohoo.
its only 15x platinum in australia. stupid australia. to put this in perspective, pink's funhouse album is on 10x platinum. i feel ashamed, lol
