trouble posting you tube video

Hi. For the last few days I've had trouble posting you tube videos. I use the video link and copy and paste the URL over, but it won't embed the video-it just gives the link.

This only started for this last weekend-did anything in settings change?
 
Put [video] before the URL and [/video] after it. That is how it has worked for me.

The only difference I see using the link is that the /forward slash is in the one before the url, and on your example, the /forward slash is in the one after the url.
I also clicked on the wysiwig mode, but it still just gave the url. No embedded video. :(

(one thing I noticed last night and today is that all of the you tube videos I've tried to post in the last two days have a period in the middle of youtube. I've never really noticed that before.

YES!! That's the link I'm using. Then I right click the url over and click paste. It comes over in lower and upper case letters.

But it just shows the letters of the url, not the actual video when I post or save. When you click the url, it takes you to the right video.

I tried to copy this over from my settings-am I in the right one? I have the Enhanced Interface checked.

I tried posting one of the videos you linked to and I have a different problem. vv

^thank you. That URL looks like what I remember. I'm on a phone now but will retry when I get to a PC tonight.
I copied it straight from YouTube so maybe they're having an issue. ?
 
I had the same problem when posting a video in the 'What are you listening to" thread the other day...I'm gonna see if I can get it to embed now.

Aha! Copying the link at the top of the screen works; but using the 'share' link does not, it gives only the link, even with the code. :scratch:

It looks like you and Dewey are right. YouTube changed something because when you use the right click or share, it gives this abbreviated code with the decimal point in the middle of the URL. But at the top of the screen the full URL is posted. I'm going to try a little vid to see if I can get it to work for me.

PS-what is a BB code?
 
The BB code is the code used to format your posts. When you click on the "B" to bold your text, what that actually does is wrap your text in the BB code for bold which is [b ][ /b], except with no spaces and the browser translates that by bolding your text. :D You can try it if you like. Instead of using the button, write the tag at the beginning and the end of your text. :lol:

I guess I am lazy. I've been using your very conveniently placed icons at the top. But once in awhile, I erase somebody's quote, so I have to re-enter it by hand. Ha-guess it helps if you know those doesn't it.

ps-just tried it and it didn't work-but I forgot the /.
 
The / is important. It closes the tag. :no:

Yeah, this stuff is useful to know. Even better if you can manage a bit of html as well. :lol:
 
Well, Silhouette (Sil) has the same problem. So, I decided to 'test' it out again :blush:

If you use the 'method' that Gaz explains... Then, it ONLY posts the link with the code.

So, I did 'preview' post and only 'erased' the [Video] code and There was my video :D

I know, it's probably NOT a 'legit' way to explain how to post videos but it worked at least for me.
 
^^Yes, it had something to do with that period in the middle of the YouTube address. For the last couple of weeks it worked whether you used the address bar link or the shortcut link.
And right now, they got rid of the shortcut link. YouTube must be messing around with it. :)

hahaha-I'm glad you mentioned this little girl again. I should start every day by watching her sing-puts me in a good mood.
