I don't know why you think MJ fans don't know Freddie or vica versa. It's not like any of them is this obscure artist. I'm an MJ fan first but I have many Queen CDs and concert DVD. I enjoy both. But I honestly think MJ is a bigger icon. Freddie was never THAT successful in the US. And Freddie's main success was with Queen, in solo he wasn't successful at all.

I said MOST. Not all... I know many MJ fans who knows a lot about Freddie and Queen, but I am talking most. There are so many young people today who do not know much about Freddie, and I am pretty sure there are way more many young people who are doing these votings compared to older fans.

Don't know why you brought up how MJ is a bigger icon compared to Freddie. It's not even a question - MJ is and was bigger overall. I'll say the same thing as I said in a group on FB yesterday regarding The Beatles VS MJ. Go to some place in Africa, and there will be many more people who know Michael Jackson compared to Freddie Mercury (or even the whole Queen band for that matter). I have family there who won't respond when you say The Beatles, they don't get it, but when you say Michael Jackson, they get it

I don't think we're wrong, there's no way they'd make it run until September. Everyone would lose interest waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay before then.

The above results seem to be from the earlier polls as both MJ and Freddie have under 10,000 votes in those polls, whereas in the final they were both well into the 10,000s (20,000s for MJ :D). it wasn't an official poll but it is very well deserved of course. Michael changed the HIStory of music for the better, inverted new styles and did the impossible. Studied the talents of old and became far greater. No one will ever reach his peak of brilliance again. BOSS of music.
 
True, but IMHO Any Michael Jackson poll is worth voting for him & his fans Vote for him to see if he gets #1 spot. I love seeing Michael at Number #1 :)
