WDIGM 2 will open at number...

i guess i'm not seeing the difference. most successful vs. number 1. and what was the difference between what i said about the billboard singles, and what you said?

i guess i'm the one that needs to be enlightened, as to why one matters less than the other. all this relativity assessment is making my head spin.

I think you're confusing yourself

Having a #1 movie isn't that big of a deal. I would even go as far to say that Janet is more intrigued to get a #1 single than a movie. Even though she first started off as an actress. She's most recognizable for her art as musical act not actress. I'm going off what she said- she's clearly unbothered about getting a #1 movie. Idk why you even brought up what I said in the other thread. Basically, shade #fail. I was informing someone that is misinformed about Janet's accomplishments and status in the industry. He or she was bunching her up as someone that only got famous and success because of her brother. That's all. Now next time you try to come for me, you should TRY to make sense.

xoxo! :)

The film was never going to open at #1 with Clash of the titans being released the same day. It's set to gross $30mil which is more than the first film did in it's opening weekend ($21mil)

Dunk Queen of the box office

There is a guy called the Fresh Prince who might disagree with that. :tease:

But is it really fair to compare Will Smith's movies with Janet's? The only movie that Janet's carried on her own (meaning she was the clear lead character) was Poetic Justice. The other movies, she was part of an ensemble cast of characters.

A movie going number one isn't that big of a deal. Tyler already has a big following so I'm not surprised by these huge numbers. Yes, Janet has 3 #1 movies (no other artist accomplished this feat) under her belt but NP2 was because it was a sequel and WDIGM was because its a Tyler Perry flick. She's just warming up to Hollywood.

Oh! and you mean most successful singles in Billboard history :)

I don't see the correlation between the two. Do enlighten me.

Well, I think it is a big deal for Janet, because during her press tour, she was often introduced with that tag. All her movies have been number 1...Obviously, that information was fed to the press.

:)

Well 2 MTV Movie Awards and an NAACP Image Award for acting says otherwise.

And we all know she can sing. :punk:

The formula numbers=quality only works for very few ppl out there,MJ is one of them.
I don't dislike Janet as an artist, but in her case quantity doesn't equal quality.
I appreciate more a stunning performance like Bjork's in dancer in the dark,(which despite not making big numbers gained international recognition and real awards like cannes film festival pal d'or for both the movie and leading actress and an oscar nomination for the song) then this melodramatic soap opera with ppl screaming like crazy.

Tyler had to re-write the ending because he didn't want Janet to have to do a funeral scene due to Mike passing at the time they started filming.

I don't know about anyone else but I'm getting sick of reading low comments about Janet. If you don't like her, don't post in every thread mentioning her name making it so blatantly clear you don't. It's getting very tiring.
This isn't a thread about comparing Janet to other artists either, so lets get back on topic. Thanks. :)

Please don't bring personal issues on the board, if there's a problem report, or PM a member of staff. :flowers:

Thanks Stacy I totally agree, hate her, thats fine but theres no need to come here and argue with people who might :)
:flowers: peace ??

I just came back from seeing the movie. It was melodramatic (typical Tyler Perry) but still very entertaining. it may open better than thought. All of the shows til midnight were sold out at the theater I went to.

It grossed a little over 30 million - http://boxofficemojo.com/weekend/chart/

I saw the movie and I'm disappointed. Tyler should really take into consideration some training from REAL directors/screen writers. Just sayin'.

Janet was good. I was shocked by her acting. It was really good. I hope to see her in some action/drama movies.

After seeing a couple of his movies, I knew what to expect and it was actually better than I anticipated, and I didn't even see the first "Why..."

I've been generally indifferent about Janet's acting, but I also thought she was really good.

The movie was ok..I liked the first one a lot better..Tyler did a bad writing job..and that is why I felt the movie didn't flow well and that it was misleading..Janet, Malik and Jill did great in the movie though!!

Well to me I think that WDIGM too is on #4 spot on the box office charts:

1 1 Clash of the Titans Warner Bros. Pictures Distribution $26,633,209 $110,226,524 2 3802
2 - Date Night 20th Century Fox $25,207,599 $25,207,599 1 3374
3 3 How to Train Your Dragon Paramount Pictures $24,863,535 $133,404,438 3 4007
4 2 Tyler Perry's Why Did I Get Married Too? Lionsgate $11,017,379 $48,537,039 2 2155
