That’d make this the better Thriller 40 anniversary release, would it not?

When you compare Thriller 2001 Special Edition, Thriller 25, and Thriller 40, the gains have increased.

2001 - 1 song, basically cut down to a snippet, and some interview bits.

2008 - Several remixes, some of which I can still enjoy (as guilty pleasures), 1 with actual new vocals. 1 new Song, not actually a Thriller outtake, we'll just call it a Thriller 25 outtake. And some demoes, B-Sides, and rarities, scattered on various singles mostly in Japanese countries..and Someone in the Dark.


Thriller 40 - All of the above, several demoes, 1 entirely new outtake, so far, and a couple of obnoxious teases. Basically 2 or 3 new entities and then other stuff to pad it out. Still, overall, a lot more than Thriller 25 and basically a true project over the Special Edition.

Absolutely. All things considered, I still think this is the best Thriller reissue, and the second-best MJ reissue overall (behind Bad 25). Not perfect whatsoever, but this is some of the most value I’ve yet seen from this sort of project.

Hey, we might just get Chicago 1945 with Thriller 100! i'll be around my 80s by that point, with how much i love sound quality, i will probably hear it like an MP3 from Limewire :p
 
the track list could be longer but for Hot street and night line 15 songs would be enough space

The MJ Hologram will play directly in your brains cortical eye sight while VR allows you to actually feel like you're fighting for your life, you actually almost stab a man to death before dancing out your frustrations, and you actually feel like you're stalking MJ across town as he paints the town in glowing white light.

The fans will still complain that it's not 82K though.
 
Thriller hit #26 on the Billboard Hot 100 singles chart

Last year was 19. Bit of a shame but still impressive considering the amount of new releases & bloated/manipulated chart.
 
Has anyone check the official website if the final "40" image's been already uploaded?

According to what I could get from his review, it's not truly better, it's different. An alternative, new way of listening to the album with a different approach.

So do I. Making a proper remaster takes effort and companies focused on the profit aren't bothered by it. I'm glad a household name in the audiophile niche took the job.

I'm hoping the SACD will sound as clean as the vinyl so I can have a go-to copy for my sound system.
