Hot topic What unreleased demos and remixes do you think will be on Thriller 40 Disc 2?

The Toy and Who Do You Know are really starting to grow on me, I feel like I judged too early lol. The instrumentals are definitely lacking though.
I get the impression that most of MJ’s pre-Bad demos were very bare bones. It seems like he didn’t really put effort into making them sound like completed productions until the mid-1980s.
I feel like the 2010 remix has to be heard because the vocals definitely have potential.
I agree! I’m honestly shocked that it sounds this developed vocally. I was expecting something simpler, but it even has backing vocalists.

I kinda refuse to believe they put Starlight on the disc sounding like that, but I also totally believe it, lol. Hoping it's a bad rip or something.
Yeah, listening back now with headphones, it’s on par with the XSCAPE demos for the most part. Hopefully some more people got their hands on it and can confirm whether or not it’s just a bad rip.

I'd say it's a person who doesn't know EAC exists and ripped it in 128kbps using whatever software they have.

Waiting for the day someone filters the third verse of the BTM demo and puts it into the 2010 remix.

It's hardly a bad rip, the other demos sound ok at the very least. Starlight sounds just bad.

I'm loving that the blurbs in the booklet are the same awful ones they posted online when announcing the tracks.
At least in the context of the book it makes some sense. They’re still horribly written, but… hey… gotta find the positives…?

If you told me The Toy demo was recorded in 2008, I'd believe it. Really odd but amazing at the same time.

Tbf though She's Trouble is the only song that's finished, maybe that's why it sounds better.
True. Also sounds the strongest. Like I can almost see why Trouble almost made the album and the rest never got past the demo stage.

Really a shame that Hot Street & Nightline aren't on this release
I'm actually really glad that Hot Street isn't on this album, the song is Imo one of the best songs in the vault and it wouldn't be fair to put it on an album with lackluster demos such as this one. It deserves a better release on an album like Xscape or on an album with better outtakes.

As for Nite Line though yeah it would totally fit on this album lol.

You've got to be kidding me haha:

How do mistakes like this get through quality control?

What a disappointment on the mixing front. At this point, I'm just convinced the estate's executors are utterly incompetent buffoons, from the rollout to how bad certain tracks sound. The leaks from earlier this week unironically sound much better. Though it'd be too much for me to expect the Estate to act like a proper estate.

(Also the song selection kind of sucks. Everyone else and their dog has already brought it up, but was there really a need for Outta The Rain to be on the second disc rather than the third? Hot Street and Nite Line could easily take the two slots CGOOTR and Sunset Driver have, and nothing substantial would be lost.)

P.S: Something tells me that Quincy's repsonsible for holding up the remaining 10-15 songs in the vault out of the thirty recorded for the album. We've barely gotten anything from the actual sessions on Thriller 40, and we were lucky to have the songs cut from Thriller 25 leak onto the Internet a year or two after its release. The Estate really needs to patch things up with him and Rod's estate, and fast.
