What's 'Little Susie' all about?? It really creeps me out when listening to the song and looking at the picture in the cover of the HIStory album.

"Little Susie" is an amazing song. Michael's voice is incredible on it and the composition is out of this world. Lyrically its a great song too. What it's about I would say is child abuse in the form of neglect. Little Susie died litterally by falling down a flight of staires, but she died figuratively because no one was there to take care of her. The reason she fell down the staires is because no one was watching her. It's a statement against neglecting your children and is a very powerful, meaningful and underrated masterpiece from Michael. People don't like it because they either think its too weird or too sappy, the usual reasons why they don't like any of Michael's emotionally charged songs. But composition wise, lyrically and vocally, its one of Michael's best.

This album came out when I was 11 or 12 and I was really frightened every time I heard the song, but now I listen to the lyrics and the music it doesn't scare me anymore. It's actually one of the greatest songs on the album, I love a song that really tells a story like this one does.

I always thought there was some link to the song Little Susie to the story of Polly Klaas, the 12 year old girl in California that was abducted from her home at knife point and killed in 1993. Polly was in the midst of a slumber party at her home with 2 friends when this tragedy occured. I've never read anything on this subject, but it seems like something Michael might have felt compelled to write a song about. This was an innocent youth that had her life taken in such unspeakable circumstances. This was a story that shocked and saddened the nation and the world.

I love "Little Susie"...that song is REAL, what artistry is all about, telling the story of those who have no voice or not the strength. That song IMO is who Michael really is...an ARTIST, who just so happens to be able to sing and dance really well.

I agree, that's what the songs means. It's definitely one of MJ's best. My favorite song from the HIStory album. ^_^

I think its about the abuse that really doesn't get the attention that is deserves...

Bruises heal...Mental abuse lasts a lifetime!
