USA

The single has dropped but the album has gone up. I was hoping the album would be in the top 10 by now as we get closer to release day. Not sure how good of an iTunes seller MJ's previous albums have been (pre/post 2009)

Love Never Felt So Good (Duet)
#9 United States

Love Never Felt So Good (solo)
#74 United States

Xscape (Deluxe album)
#18 United States

They started airing the Jeep commercials tonight, so expect a bump.

MJ's albums have never done that well on I-tunes. Remember, MICHAEL in 2010 debuted at #3 on Billboard with 200,000+ in first week sales and that album never made it into the Top 10 on Itunes. The vast majority of sales for Michael Jackson albums are physical in-store copies. So I wouldn't worry too much about it. The Billboard stunt next weekend is sure to boost sales for the 2nd week in the US.

It's hard to say how many copies it will sell, but a top 5 debut is almost certain in my opinion. US Sales could be anywhere between 80,000 and 250,000 copies. It's really hard to say. MICHAEL came out at Christmas (higher sales of most albums) but XSCAPE is better received by fans, has a better reputation/reviews, and has MUCH better advertising machine behind it.

Realistically, Xscape should debut in the top 3 in most countries around the world.

Oh yeah, I forgot about the Billboard Awards thing, MJ is sure to get a huge boost from that. :)

Did you see iTunes in June/July/August 2009? :p

But in all seriousness, I'm pretty sure I saw Michael in the Top Ten on the US iTunes Store when it came out. I remember it being like 12.10am release day in New Zealand and Michael was at #1 on iTunes.

In all honesty, if an album is by a big artist, reaching #1 on iTunes isn't that big of a milestone. The reason why it's #1 is because a whole lot of people are suddenly buying it. What you really want is longevity. Of course, there are some exceptions, like if the artist wasn't that big or it was a posthumous album (assuming the artist has been dead for a little while), then reaching #1 on iTunes is definitely awesome!

Xscape comes out here in NZ on Tuesday and Xscape has been drifting around ~#20 on the iTunes charts, which isn't actually too bad! I think it should do alright here hopefully. I saw some advertising for it in shops this morning :)

Depending on what tine in the show MJ's segment appears, it might give a boost to first week sale too. The BBMA are on Sunday night, the FINAL day sale for the Billboard chart week. But I agree the big boost will be seen during week two.

update on danish iTunes chart.

LNFSG #4 (down 1)

LNFSG solo #39

Xscape is STILL #1 !!!!

Normal edition of Xscape has dropped to #31 ...

But I guess it's a good thing the deluxe edition sells the best !!

For sure the danish charts are interesting, but you dont need to update the charts every single day. :D

It would get crazy if everyone here would do that with their homecountry^^

Yes, we like to follow charts every day, not every second day.
If you don't want to read charts everyday, don't come on the thread everyday :cheeky:

We (chartbusters:) don't mind if fans posts updates from their own country, the more the merrier :D

@Respect, where those numbers coming from?

Well this is a charts thread and some of us want to know how it is doing.

I say keep posting them here, PLEASE. You are free to drop by every other day... :)

ETA; MJ needs to overtake Coldplay already.

I love Coldplay, but I think it time to them to make room for the man himself.

Ps, I'm sure Coldplay doesn't mind if they get beaten by MJ:D

Holland Rocks! Good promotion there!

^^ Great thing that domino effect:clapping:
Once the estate releases an album, it will effect on older releases too, and those re-enter to charts.
It happens many other countries too, not just in Holland.
