Xscape General Discussion

What did I say earlier about mentioning that name around here?

Ooops, sorry ...But I'm not taking him back :D

Re: News and discussion about new MJ album : Xscape, May 13, 2014.

Oh you guys....At least it's not Justin Bieber :D

Justin Bieber & Justin Timberlake is like Rihanna & Whitney Huston.

Justin Timberlake is a respected artist. Justin Bieber is a douche wannabe.
Whitney Huston was a respected artist. Rihanna is a pornstar wannabe.

Re: News and discussion about new MJ album : Xscape, May 13, 2014.

So now on which track are MJB and that other artist appearing then?

Hot Fun In The Summertime. It will probably remain unreleased.

Re: News and discussion about new MJ album : Xscape, May 13, 2014.

Justin Timberlake is number two for me, right behind Michael. I love the man, and as much as I wish it was an original song, I can't wait to hear his take on Love Never Felt So Good (assuming it's true).

And as previously mentioned, this is a remix, not the actual version of the song. We're still getting the 2014 reproduction and the original demo recording, so this isn't a big deal as far as I'm concerned.

Re: News and discussion about new MJ album : Xscape, May 13, 2014.

Not a huge fan of Justin Timberlake and his cultural appropriation/watered down Thriller era steaze, but I can't wait to hear the remix. It's just a bonus track which means it can be anything.

He's a decent artist who is known to be heavily influenced by Michael. The only little thing that bothers me is that although Michael sounded beautiful, it was just a demo. You know Justin will be trying his hardest to one up Michael's vocal performance lol.

Re: News and discussion about new MJ album : Xscape, May 13, 2014.

I like JT.. I like his music.. I like his acting.. I like his comedy bits..

I didn't like what he did to Janet tho..

But I'm still happy to hear he'll be featured on a remix that will likely get radio airplay (although hopefully not too much in the beginning so that the MJ only version can gain its own momentum) and catapult this single, album, and MJ back to the top!

Re: News and discussion about new MJ album : Xscape, May 13, 2014.

not really happy about the news. if they wanted him to duet with another big star why not choose another unreleased song not on the album already?

Re: News and discussion about new MJ album : Xscape, May 13, 2014.

Off topic: Whitney Houston is still a respected artist.

On topic: I was not a fan of LNFSG appearing four times on the deluxe (including video for the single). I am not a fan of Timberlake so my view has not changed. I believe adding another lead simy means added lyrics similar to PYT with Will.I.Am. Timberlake also imitates Michael so often that I am not sure how that will translate.

I hope other regions will still have another option for the bonus. If not, it is not an issue for me but, I do view it as a wasted opportunity.

Think about that for a second.. Wouldn't u like to have a full MJ song released with MJ by himself instead of having another artist take away vocal time from MJ?

If true, this seems to be just a bonus remix. And it being JT isn't such a big surprise since Timbaland is executive producer of the project.

if a song isnt fully finished and requires a verse or two being sung by another singer then I would much prefer they do that rather then release 3 versions of the same song on the same album.

Its not a major but a bit disappointing for me. well atleast they didnt get an impersonator in this time around..

I get your point.. And yes if a song isn't finished I agree that making that a "duet" song would be acceptable (hopefully if and when that ever happens, we'll get the original versions as well).

Michael Jackson album guests Justin Timberlake, Mary J. Blige
By Richard Johnson

Justin Timberlake, Questlove, D’Angelo and Mary J. Blige all guest-star on the new Michael Jackson album, “Xscape,” according to Aaron Reid, who did A&R on the posthumous project.

The album, pieced together with unused music from various recording sessions, will be released May 13. The first single, “Love Never Felt So Good,” drops Thursday.

As for where the songs came from, “Michael Jackson didn’t trust anyone with his music. He stopped finishing songs,” said Aaron, “He had a whole bunch of material stored away. He had hooks. He had verses. Then we put it together.”

Aaron is the 24-year-old son of Epic Records mogul L.A. Reid and R&B singer/music manager Perri “Pebbles” Reid (who, as I reported last week, has filed suit against Viacom over the “defamatory” portrayal of her in a 2013 VH1 movie about girl group TLC, who she once represented). For the Jackson album, he worked closely with his father and executive producer Timbaland, and hired StarGate,

Jerome “Jroc” Harmon and Rodney Jerkins to produce the eight songs. Guitarist Jesse Johnson, best known as a member of the Time, plays on the album.

Critics say Jackson, who died nearly five years ago, didn’t finish the songs because he didn’t think they were good enough. They say the lawyers running Jackson’s estate are just trying to cash in
on his enduring fans.

But Aaron said making the album was “an amazing process. Michael Jackson is my favorite artist of all time. With this project, I got to carry on his legacy and even to contribute to it. There’s nothing like it.”

But who says Michael wanted a certain song to be a duet? Honestly, completing an unfinished song as a duet is more disrespectful than making a remix.

Re: News and discussion about new MJ album : Xscape, May 13, 2014.

According to a source on my side, Love Never Felt So Good has a remix version with Justin T, which we will soon hear it.

But the tracklist she gave out (weeks ago) also include Hot Fun in Summertimes as bonus

I have to verify this again with my source.

Yeah, I'm sure the thing MJ did with the Beatles catalog was a very respectful thing.

Re: News and discussion about new MJ album : Xscape, May 13, 2014.

Justin Timberlake eh...I've always found his voice kind of annoying, but I'll give the song a listen and if I don't like it, no big deal. I don't have to force myself to listen to it lol.

Re: News and discussion about new MJ album : Xscape, May 13, 2014.

Lets be thankful that they didn't choose "JB" instead of "JT" :D if you know what I mean ;D

Slave to the Rhythm feat Justin Beiber remix as bonus track.. imagine that

No wonder they had to quickly arrange for JT

JT is number two for me too, I'm looking forward to this! Could have been some other song though but I'm okay with LNFSG. I still have a feeling that we are gonna get HFITS too, maybe a hidden track or something.

Btw only 11 days left until I will see Justin in a concert here in Finland! Maybe he will perform LNFSG there. :D

Re: News and discussion about new MJ album : Xscape, May 13, 2014.

I'm not a fan of Justin Timberlake, but as long as it's just the bonus track and we will have LNFSG solo as well, it's OK. I guess this was maybe a part of the deal with Timbaland: to have JT on the album.

Hot Fun in the Summertime with MJ, Mary J. Blige and Questlove on it sounded more exciting, but oh well... Maybe we will get that at some another time.

how many hours until the awards show?

Justin was not only a fan of Michael, but he was a friend of the family. So it makes sense for him to be on it.

Justin! I still think he'll perform the duet version of "Love Never Felt So Good". :)

Justin Timberlake is at Belgium for his Europe tour. Unless it's a satellite connection and/or prerecorded , I don't see how he can perform. He's also a nominee, that could be why his picture is on the banner.
