I Kept Waiting for Michael to arrive...

This may sound stupid but as fellow MJ fans, I was wondering if any of you could relate. I'm use to watching awards shows or other events where a lot of music is shown always wondering, "Is Michael going to be here?" It was weird, when CNN was showing the empty room with the crowed and no-one on stage, it was like, "When is Michael showing up?" There were some brief moments where I felt like, he was still going to show up. I still haven't adjusted to death...

And I have to say when reality hit that he wasn't showing up..he wasn't going to walk in the room with his smile, and be rushed in by security, or flash a Victory sign, or wave, it was nothing...as amazing as the show was..it just felt so empty without Michael being there.

I'd hear Usher and others covering his songs, and while they were great, I had these moments of thinking, "Michael could sing these so much better. Where is he?" And then it would hit me yet again, "HE IS GONE."

Does anyone feel what I'm trying to say?

I totally feel ya. I swear I do but I can't describe it the way you did. Im happy im not the only one. I swear when MC began singing Ill Be There I thought ''MIKE COME HELP HER OUT''. she sounded horrible. for a second I thought I lost my mind.

At the end of the ceremony, when they were playing man in the mirror and the mic was there, I just knew Michael was going to come out. I unconsciously anticipated an appearance by my idol so I totally understand what you are saying.

P.S.
Mariah Carey and her partner were both terrible.

I totally know how you feel, I kept waiting for him to come out of the casket and join in singing we are the world! It still hasn't sunken in yet that he is never going to perform again on this planet. I was really hanging on to the end of the memorial waiting for him to appear!

P.S. I love Paris, she was so brave!

I totally disagree with your comments about MC, she was full of emotion and the first performance on stage, it was a raw performance and you could feel the tension in her voice. The sound production was at fault during most of the preformance as well. I think she was superb, but I agree the other performers were better.

I did think about it for a moment right at the end of ceremony (the finale). I was half-expecting him to jump out of the coffin. It didn't happen of course...

It wasn't MC best performance, but you could notice how hard she tried the whole performance not to break in tears. I understand, she was the 1rst to perform, she hadn't seen the casket 'till that moment.

I thought maybe it was because she was crying. But I did keep thinking of him and how he sung it live, you know when he was touring and stuff.

Mariah Carey was cholked up a little bit but she has always ruined her lower register. She can't sing like she used to. Everyone knows this. She has been seeing a throat specialist about this very thing.

I had a sick vison of MJ coming out of his casket and doing thriller
i was almost hopeing
its really bad i no....

I know how you feel. It felt that like for me several times, too, like "any minute now we'll get to see Michael..." and then the realization again... NO WE WON'T. Ugh.

And several times, especially toward the end I had brief moments of feeling like, "Oh, I'll be sooooo glad when all this stuff is over and we can just get back to normal again and see Michael!

... Oh yeah, that's not gonna happen..."

i agree... i kept expecting him to come out and just dance a little bit.

I was imagining Michael coming out of the coffin saying, 'gotcha'! Oh man, how bad would that be but great. So many thoughts and emotions.

I know how you feel! I kept saying the same thing. Like okay, maybe he's going to come out from nowhere, and smile or ahh...my head is filled with so many thoughts of what went wrong?! Why did Michael have to go?

me too.. When I saw the gold coffin I just broke down. I cant imagine never seeing him dance or hearing his voice ever again, or seeing him moonwalk. God I miss him so much. Its so painful. A part of my soul died too when he left.

I didn't really care for the memorial performances as they were never going to get anywhere the level of Michael Jackson so I was glad that Stevie sang his own poignant songs in his own way.
Looking at those other people singing MJs songs showed just how great he was and for all the plaudits of the young kid singing, he showed how amazing it was when Mike did it.

No performances can ever get close.

I am glad that it wasnt just me feeling this way. I guess part of me just doesnt want to accept the truth but like most of you it's going to take me time to get over the fact he's no longer on this mortal coil

I hear what you guys are saying. It is this feeling of like hearing these kids do these songs makes me feel like, "Gosh I miss Michael even more." It is really true..Michael took part of me with him, when he died. It's so hard because I didn't even expect that part to be taken when it was. I honestly figured I would be 40 or 50 before Michael passed away. I'm 24.

I think it hurts so much more because 2009 was looking to be such a promising year for Michael's fans, and more importantly, Michael. I hope Michael can achieve in death, the comeback he was attempting in his final time on this earth. He already has but I hope it keeps going on.

I keep thinking of Janet embracing Paris this morning. I'm so glad his sweet children, his everything, have such a sweet and loving family around them. I'd also like to think Michael isn't only watching over his children, his huge family, his friends, but also his fans all over the world. We miss him too!

The microphone under an empty spotlight. A real sense of vacancy. It was his turn on stage.

I was hoping to hear MJ sing Will you be there, and Heal the World. I was thinking, any minute Michael will sing these songs, but then I realized no he won't. I was also thinking god it's so much better when Michael sings it. Even when its sung live he 10000% more better then these people. I felt when the little kid was singing as young Michael, that it wasn't as magical as little Michael sung it. I mean he's a good singer, but he ain't no michael. And thats just it. There will never be another Michael, and it's sad that the ride is over. All we have to look forward to is unreleased music, which is good, but no new dance moves or anything, or new music videos. Today I realized that Michael is truly gone, and he surly will be missed. By everyone, especially his children.

I love you Michael, and always will.

Sorry for getting off topic.

With all due respect to the TII performers, when Kenny Ortega was announcing the we are the world bit, I really hoped it was going to be a video of the rehearsals with MJ!

Yeah, I guess I was subconsciously waiting for Michael to come out on that stage...

It's just an awful feeling knowing that he's not with us anymore. I don't think I'll ever be able to get used to that.

TBH he did make it sound like they were going to show an entire song from the rehearsals.

I actually did imagine him, coming with a hugh jump breaking through the background where the images were shown, with his signature scream

Yeah, I got that feeling too :( And even though their performance was touching, I was so expecting to hear Michael's voice, joining them :( The best part of WYBT was when Michael started talking, his voice is so sweet, like an angel! And why didn't they play the original Man In the Mirror in the end? :((((

Except for that it was very beautiful memorial!! I want to see it again without talking heads bubling over (they were translating and often not right)

PS. Was it Dorian singing in WATW/HTW? And who was that guy with hat and glasses in the begining of WATW? HIs face looks familiar, i think he was on Liberian Girl video?
