we have a late edition of the news today.

MGMT approve of MJ music
Salı, 11 Mart 2008 04:43

Michael Jackson has got the seal of approval from up and coming electro mob MGMT.
The achingly cool New Yorkers are well in favour of the fallen King Of Pop. Asked what he thought of *****'s potential comeback Synth man Ben Goldwasser told Orange: "I think it's unfortunate that his public image is so tainted." Ben added: "But I still think he can put out some amazing music." http://www.ixtanbul.com/news_detail.php?id=11606Lots of Beatles articles...here's just one of them...

Michael Jackson's company denies Beatles coming to iTunes
Posted by Greg Sandoval | 26 comments

The company that owns the rights to a vast majority of The Beatles music catalog has questioned reports that the Fab Four have cut a deal with Steve Jobs. Sony/ATV Music Publishing, the joint venture owned by Sony and singer Michael Jackson, has thrown cold water on newspaper stories out of London that The Beatles catalog would soon be available on iTunes.
A spokeswoman for Sony/ATV Music Publishing told CNET News.com that the reports are "untrue." Sony/ATV is a pretty good source.
While EMI Group owns the recording rights to The Beatles catalog, Sony and Jackson own the rights to the vast majority of the catalog's publishing rights. Had a deal been cut, Sony/ATV would "absolutely be informed," the Sony/ATV spokeswoman said. The Beatles' official Web site(Credit: Apple Corps)Stories about the Fab Four heading to iTunes crop up every few months, it seems, and rumors and unconfirmed reports have been circulating for years. This time, the story appeared to have legs as it was reported by three large British newspapers. They all cited unnamed sources. Under media scrutiny, the stories began showing cracks on Sunday. One of the newspapers reported that Apple was willing to pay the Beatles about $600 million. The blog Silicon Alley Insider noted that Apple, which grosses about 33 cents for every song sale, would have to sell 1.8 billion Beatles songs to break even. A high-level music industry source said an agreement between The Beatles and Apple could still get inked in 2008. They emphasized, however, that the British papers were wrong to say the deal was finalized. Representatives for EMI and Apple declined to comment for the story. Beatles-iTunes partnership would make sense One has to wonder why these rumors and unconfirmed reports continue to crop up. Is it a case of wishful thinking on the part of Beatles fans or Apple? The availability of The Beatles, the best-selling band of all time, on iTunes would send the most dramatic signal to date that digital downloads are an integral part of mainstream music, said Susan Kevorkian, a music analyst with research group IDC. "It's important for iTunes and online music services in general because it legitimizes IP-based music services," Kevorkian said. "It also points to the fact that digital music services are maturing when important groups that have been high-profile holdouts come onboard." In the last several years, Madonna, Led Zeppelin, and Metallica--artists who once spurned Internet sales of their music--reversed themselves and embraced iTunes. Earlier Monday, Chris Castle, a music lawyer and former record label executive predicted that a Web-based Beatlemania would be big for iTunes and Beatles fans alike. He said The Beatles could release formerly unreleased music "that they might have lying around," and the offering could also include some kind of video element. Even though The Beatles broke up nearly 40 years ago, Castle said Apple Corps, the band's media company, would find a way to "dress up the offering" so that it would create excitement even among longtime Beatles fans. Jeff Jones, the new head of Apple Corps, "is known as a catalog genius," Castle said. "If there is anybody that can figure out how to make this work it's him. I would expect to see some pleasant surprises from Jeff." Castle said that what fans likely won't find with a Beatles offering on iTunes is a discount. "This is a band that has sold music at premium prices for four decades," Castle said. "They've never been discounted. I would be shocked to see any competition on price. Think about it. The Beatles have kept (their brand) precious and popular for a long time. They've done this by knowing how to treat their fans and knowing what didn't work for them." The Beatles were unlikely candidates to join iTunes. Apple Corps had a series of trademark disputes with Apple Inc. going back to 1976 when Beatle guitarist George Harrison saw an ad for the then Apple Computer. The band thought the new company had infringed on their trademark and sued. The case was settled out of court. There were other legal skirmishes along the way but last year, Paul McCartney told reporters in Great Britain that he thought a deal with Apple CEO Steve Jobs was close to being finalized. If and when The Beatles arrive at iTunes, there'll be plenty of people who will ask, "Why all the fuss?" The music has been available for free on peer-to-peer sites for years. According to Castle, The Beatles were an unprecedented combination of talent and timing, and even after all this time, still possess an enormous following of people who will be willing to pay. "You had the musical genius, business genius, and extraordinary popularity that crossed all genres and formats," Castle said. "You've never had that before or since."

Thanks for the news.

I have some news - In the new issue of People magazine with Drew Barrymore and her boyfriend, Justin Long, on the cover, they did a two page article on MJ's Neverland Estate. It is on page 66 and I was shocked when I was flipping the pages to see it there. I was going to read the article when I saw Stacy Brown mentioned in the article as a source. They called this fool Jackson's former friend. Since when was that loser MJ's friend to begin with? So, I did not bother reading the article.

If Neverland does not go up for auction.. there are going to be some very disappointed people... who so love other people's misfortunes...

but with the New York governor's public indisgression with using the tax payers money for getting prostitutes.. hopefully the media .. won't be focusing on Neverland..

ooops..I forgot.. they are obsessed with Michael.. so some of them out there will be counting the days to the auction...

time will tell.. just a little more than a week untill that date they gave of the auction

Stacy Brown. Now there's a name that I haven't heard since...the last time negative news came up in MJ's world . Expect Diane Dimond and the others to once again resurface in 3...2...1...

If it weren't so pathetic it'd be comical.

Ok hoping the computer acts right now

ART: The newest dimension in art exhibtionsFoundation for Contemporary Art says: be kind, change timeSara McCullochIssue date: 3/11/08 Section: A & EThe DHC/ART Foundation for Contemporary Art is now showcasing six different artists who manipulate time, space and perspective using film and photographic media. The gallery itself, divided between two different buildings, will feature film re-enactments from Paul Pfeiffer, Ann Lislegaard, Harun Farocki, Nancy Davenport, Kerry Tribe and Stan Douglas.Paul Pfeiffer's Live from Neverland tackles the media spectacle surrounding the child molestation allegations against Michael Jackson. Before viewing the main attraction, a corner installation, Live Evil (Bucharest), greets you with footage of a headless Michael Jackson on stage morphing into an alien - not through his physical transformations - but through computerized imaging. As for the main attraction, a small television replays Jackson's denial accusations while another screen showcases a Greek chorus filled appropriately with children chanting his many denials. The chanting is subtly synched with Jackson himself, right down to the facial expressions and pauses.Ann Lislegaard's I-You-Later-There eerily recreates normal daily activities with a leaning floor structure illuminated by a giant, flickering lamp. Daily sounds are mimicked through a sound track providing an audible background to: chairs shuffling, footsteps, doors, running water, and a kettle. These sounds are drowned in the haunting voice of a speaker recounting her daily routine. All senses are blurred as the installation disrupts time, space, sight and sound.Harun Farocki's Deep Play installation will appeal to faithful soccer fans as it depicts twelve different perspectives of the 2006 FIFA World Cup, held in Berlin. The different points of view include Farocki's own footage, security footage, channel directors controlling the angles, players computerized as dots, statistical representations of players' speeds and goals, high angle camera views and screaming team coaches.Nancy Davenport's short space odyssey, Workers (leaving the factory) takes on the socio-economic theme of outsourcing by uniting European factory workers with their new Chinese replacements in an orbiting, animated sequence. At the centre of this installation is a rocket adventure. Davenport completely surrounds the space spatially, visually, and audibly. His other exhibitions include Campus, a series of photographs of many university campuses across the United States and Canada, as well as Weekend Campus, a looping video chronicling a series of student witnesses at the scene of a road disaster.Kerry Tribe's Here and Elsewhere is a thought-provoking interview between a perceptive ten-year-old named Audrey and her father, British film historian, Peter Wollen. The film traces the young girl's views on history, memory, perception, time, image, and knowledge. The installation includes two adjacent screens, separated by a small gap, and each, at some points in time, displaying different scenes.Unfortunately, Stan Douglas's installation, Inconsolable Memories, is having some technical difficulties, but will be up and running next week. This installation accelerates the time frame of Cuban filmmaker Tomás Gutiérrez's Memories of Underdevelopment (1968) to the social-historical context of the 1980s.nRe-enactments is on display at the DHC/ART Foundation for Contemporary Art (451 and 468 St-Jean) until May 25. Gallery hours are Wednesdays to Fridays from noon to 7:00 p.m., and weekends from 11 to 6. Admission is free.

I certainly hope MJ is able to come through and rescue Neverland, 'cause I just won't be able to stand the vultures that have been waiting for this to come out screeching!

Thanks for the news. Re: NL we all just have to wait and see what happens. But it would be a pity if he loses it. Especially in this way.

yeah, thats what I mean.....if he does'nt want it anymore, then at least it would be his decision to sell, not have it taken from him.

A woman who has long claimed to be Michael Jackson's wife has been arrested for trespassing at the entertainer's Neverland Ranch in the Santa Ynez Valley.

Santa Barbara County sheriff's deputies were called to the ranch east of Los Olivos on Monday night after Neverland security officers detained Billie Jean Jackson on the property.

Sgt. Martin Eberling says the 60-year-old Santa Maria woman claimed she was the pop star's wife and Neverland was hers, too.

The woman was arrested and booked at Santa Barbara County Jail for investigation of trespassing. Bail was set at $2,500.

It wasn't known if Michael Jackson was at the ranch.

Jacksons in North Devon home hunt

THE family of pop king Michael Jackson is to put down UK roots in North Devon, the Gazette can reveal.

A superstar sibling of the global music legend spent the weekend looking at various homes in the region to use as a Jackson family UK base.

Older brother Tito arrived in Barnstaple on Wednesday with the intention of taking a tour of homes and properties with long-time friend, martial arts empire owner and celebrity bodyguard Matt Fiddes.

The former Jackson Five member spent time browsing the North Devon Gazette's Homes and Property supplement, before contacting estate agents and arranging several viewings in villages on the outskirts of Barnstaple.

On Monday, friend Matt confirmed that Tito had placed offers on two properties, although he wanted to keep their exact locations under wraps to protect the star's privacy.

"I'm over-the-moon that he is looking for a home near me in North Devon and that the Jacksons will be heading this way a lot more often," he said.

"It's definitely going to happen.

"Tito spoke with Michael on the phone the other night and all the family are certain that this is the area where they want to find a UK family hideaway.

"Tito is staying with me until the weekend but if everything goes through OK, he will soon be able to use the home as a base from which to develop his career in the UK."

Tito - a judge on the successful BBC One television show Just The Two Of Us - believes he can achieve more in the UK than in America.

He said: "I've got some good things going in the UK with TV work and book offers, you guys love the Jacksons' music and I have great mates like David Gest and Matt who live here.

"It makes sense for me to find a home in this country that I, my brothers and sisters, and family can come to.

"We hope it will be a family hideaway where my brothers and sisters can escape the media attention when we need to.

"North Devon is so beautiful I'm really looking forward to buying a home and being around here a lot more."

Tito said that all his family members had shown an interest in staying in the UK. He also revealed that Michael and family were recording in the studio again and were "ready for a comeback."

"Michael likes North Devon, too, as no one bothers him. I can confirm that he has been to Barnstaple on private visits in recent years along with my brother Jermaine and a few other Jackson siblings.

"My family love North Devon and the wonderful countryside and friendly people. I am looking forward to living in Barnstaple and I hope the Barnstaple public will respect our family's privacy.

"I would also like to thank Matt Fiddes and his family and staff for making us all so welcome - they are true friends of the Jackson family."

On Friday night, Tito caused a flurry of excitement at Barnstaple nightspot Glitterball. As DJs pumped out a number of Jackson Five favourites, the star -surrounded by several bodyguards and accompanied by girlfriend American actress and model Claudia Lynx - happily signed autographs and posed for photographs with fans from a special roped-off VIP area in the club.

Tito, who last visited North Devon in January last year, also took time out to pay a return trip to the North Devon Hospice, in Newport. He also met poorly children at the Children's Hospice South West, at Fremington, and even stopped by the Christchurch pre-school in Barnstaple to chat with excited children and staff.

On Saturday morning, he went shopping in Barnstaple town centre in search of a brand new trademark bowler hat.

"He looked around the High Street and Green Lanes but got mobbed everywhere so had to give up in the end," said Matt.

Yes, she was older. This is why I say it sound like the same woman from the 80's.
