March 27, 2008: Michael Jackson News & Mentionings

yeah that would probably explain why a re-re-released 25 year old album of his made it to No.1 on the world charts.

Re: Jackson 2 to sue british newspaper. Daily star.

About time!!! They need to start fighting back.

I have never heard of anyone becoming a former popstar, even when they retired for ages. Why is it people alwaus want to take things away from Michael Jackson, it is like they don't want him to have anything at all. How many things are they trying to take from him now?

because there's no such thing. and if they do retire or pass away, those superstars will be embedded in Pop culture anyway.

Jackson Five pair sue Daily Star over 'flat broke' allegations

27 March 2008
Two former members of the Jackson Five are planning to sue the Daily Star, just over a week after it printed an unprecedented front page apology to the family of missing girl Madeline McCann.
Jermaine and Tito Jackson have instructed their lawyers to “take all necessary action” against the Express Newspapers title for “untrue and defamatory” allegations published in yesterday’s paper.

The paper led with a front page story yesterday headlined “Jackson five hit the skids” that claimed that all five members of the hit 1970s group were facing financial difficulties. The piece was labelled as “Another Daily Star showbiz exclusive”.
Legal firm Swan Turton said the pair were particularly annoyed by the suggestion that Tito is playing gigs for £250 a night and that Jermaine is still living off his earnings from an appearance on Celebrity Big Brother last year. Lawyer Jonathan Coad said the Jacksons “strenuously deny” the allegations.

now that's what i call good news.

humm believe itwhen the papers are filed, heard to many empty threats.

It is not easy to sue people when you are brought up in a religious culture that tells you not to sue anyone. The jacksons are very much like my own family. Suing would be the last resort. My family couldn't even go through with a criminal violence against themselves because of their belief. I believe this is the same for the Jacksons. They do not believe in suing people. They leave everything to God. This is why I believe they do not sue. I believe that the media is well aware of it and they take disadvantage of them because of their religious belief. It is a crying shame.:mello:

Well it does. It is there way of protesting. They are saying, 'Look, we have done nothing to you and you have offended us.' The fact that they have consultdd with a lawyer indicate that they may use one if pushed too far. MJ was pushed and he did use one.

I don't know if Jermaine is the right brother to be suing. He testified in a child support case a few months ago that he currently has no income to pay for the support. So how can he be suing now? The one I'm most confused about was Marlon supposedly bagging groceries. I thought Marlon co-owned a Television Network called MBC. What happened to that?

I've often wondered how the Jacksons earn income. I know they made next to nothing from Motown due to the low royalty rate they signed. Their last tour, The Victory Tour, ended over 23 years ago and they received 5 million a piece. I'm not saying they are broke, but if they aren't, I don't know what they are doing to earn income. The haven't had records on the charts in decades, they have no endorsements and don't tour.

I live in the USA and Tito Jackson was scheduled to headline a low budget blues concert in my hometown, but he didn't show. It was rather sad because I'd never seen a Jackson brother in person. (I'd seen Janet in a concert). I'm hoping to see a Jackson Reunion tour in the USA before it's over. I've always wonder how Jackie earns money. You never hear about it.

The weirdest part is, I don't think people would spend 25 bucks to see the Jacksons in concert if Michael Jackson wasn't there. They are totally dependent on Michael for income. I know a Michael/Jacksons tour would sell out every city in the USA. Especially now. No one has seen them on tour in the USA in over 23 years. They may be due, ya think?

Jermaine can sue if the information they propagate is incorrect. Furthermore since he has been ordered to pay thousands per month, I would expect that he has been finding jobs in europe. He has made several appearance on tv since then.

Yeah it is confusing. That's just as weird as wondering how some b.s. story got printed just so people can talk, lol.

It would be cool if MJ done a song with Rahman, that guy is one of the best composers ever!

Have you ever stopped to think that maybe they want to live private lives away from the spotlight. There are celebrities who once use to be front and center actors, singer, etc. (including former child stars) who chose to leave the stardom behind and are living ordinary lives. Maybe the Jackson brothers with the exception of Jermaine and Tito, decided to do this. And regarding how they earn a living is really no elses business but theirs. I would think that maybe they are enterperneurs (sp) working for themselves or working for someelse like everyday people:)

Bee, it wasn't meant to be offensive in my case. The truth is Michael hasn't sang or performed in ages, so in all honesty right now he is a "former pop star"

Well, the way it looked, Jaydom, it was meant to be offensive in your case. The truth is, YOU KNOW WHY MJ has not performed in "ages". Do not try to be slick, here because it is not working. And since when did MJ became a "former" pop star and when did the media tell the truth? Former pop stars do not re-release 25 year old CDs and working with the top producers at the moment. So, honestly right now, MJ is not a former pop star.

I have never heard of anyone becoming a former popstar, even when they retired for ages. Why is it people alwaus want to take things away from Michael Jackson, it is like they don't want him to have anything at all. How many things are they trying to take from him now?

I never heard that term used on any pop star before myself. I cannot understand why this man gets this type of treatment knowing that he has been working on music for a while. People want to take things away from the man because they are angry that he still has that valuable catalogue and that he is not going anywhere. It is distrubing.

As for the Jacksons suing, honestly, I will see it to believe it. BTW, I think if the brothers wanted to sue that ass Stacy Brown and the NYP, they have to prove that these clowns were doing the story in a malicious and defaming way. That is why it would be easier for them to do it through the UK courts.

They do not believe in suing people. They leave everything to God. This is why I believe they do not sue. I believe that the media is well aware of it and they take disadvantage of them because of their religious belief. It is a crying shame

I heard this myself regarding the Jacksons and why they do not sue. I think it is not right because they should fight for themselves but they want to be loyal to their religion, I guess. Well, we will see how this one goes if it happens.

Hmmm, I am not even gonna front, I was kind of thinking the same thing when I read that article. I heard about Jermaine not earning income as well and it is a bit weird. You gotta wonder what happened to all of the money. As for Marlon, in all fairness, Inside Edition were not even sure if that was really Marlon Jackson. Marlon and Jackson are common names so it could be anyone. I doubt that he works in the supermarket/grocery store. I have no clue what happened to that cable network.

I have wondered about their income myself. I wonder how they live the way that they did all of those years after the Victory tour. I do not want to assume that most of them lived off Mike and Janet but you gotta wonder how they make a living sometimes. BTW, I read that Marlon filed for bankruptcy years ago. Does anyone remember that?

I live in the USA and Tito Jackson was scheduled to headline a low budget blues concert in my hometown, but he didn't show. It was rather sad because I'd never seen a Jackson brother in person. (I'd seen Janet in a concert). I'm hoping to see a Jackson Reunion tour in the USA before it's over. I've always wonder how Jackie earns money. You never hear about it.

I hear you on that. It is quite interesting.

I do not think that is weird, I think that is a very true statement. I mean, lets face it, Mike is the heart and soul of the Jackson5/Jacksons. The brothers are talented but they can't do anything regarding a tour without Mike and that is why I think the brothers want this tour to happen and MJ seems to be hestitating. Yeah, I think they need to do a tour in the USA, it would be huge. However, it is really up to Mike because if Mike is not feeling a tour, they have to either wait a few more years or start trying to get themselves on "Dancing of the Stars". I am serious.

Bee, thanks for addressing the ridiculous comments regarding the "former pop star" issue. I tried to do it before, but your answer is more comprehensive and everything I wanted to say.

As for the Jacksons suing - yes, I'll believe that when I see it too. I suspect Michael is not terribly concerned about this story, as he has sued the UK press in the past when he felt that it was necessary and had a chance of having a result (ie the Daily Mirror face fiasco in the Dangerous era).

I can understand why the Jacksons are suing the UK papers other than just Stacy Brown...

his azz don't have ****.. and why give him the attention his is begging for...
and maybe the tabs will think twice b4 printing something from him

DJbaby - you are welcome. I agree with everything you said.

I hope the Jackson brothers win.
