I watch the Michael Jackson memorial today and was very ashamed of myself for my salacious participation in viewing and reading these attempts to hurt MJ. Today, I wanted to say “Michael come back, we will be nicer this time”, but that is not true. We are mean spirited people who enjoy watching the destruction of others….even our own friends, we enjoy seeing them fail. If jesus walked this earth today imagine what we would do to him…..again,,,,,,horrifying to think of it. This should be declared a National Day of Shame, with a vow from each of us to not participate in the destruction of others. We forget with celebrities that they are persons like us with feelings and families, just like us. We have enjoyed this bloodsport with Elvis, Marilyn, Anna Nicole and many others….WHAT IS WRONG WITH US? WHY ARE WE LIKE THIS. I am sick to my stomach at my own part in this. Shame on all of us. He was a lovely and talented individuals and I cried all day thinking about how mean we were to him….I cry now writing this. http://larrykinglive.blogs.cnn.com/2009/07/07/larry-reflects-on-todays-memorial/

Now she's projecting her own faults on everyone? Shame on her again.

Come on now. You know she is right in that she is far from the only one who treated Michael badly when he was alive. And to hear the media talk sometimes, you would never know that there are people like us who never doubted his innocence or found him weird. She probably never spoke to or heard of one of us, so I don't blame her for her generalization.

I'm just glad someone finally admitted it. It's just sad that it took his death to make some people realize his greatness.

Shame on that lady for following the pack and not realizing what she had before it was gone. I'm glad she finally admitted that people like her are sickening, but, too little too late.

America and the media found MJ guilty before he even had a fair chance to defend himself. Shame on all those who couldn't think for themselves and break away from the hatred. We are completely uneducated as a society and it is indeed shameful that we cannot remove ourselves from what the media CHOOSES to spoon feed us.

Well, I would send her this video.

Its too late to apologize
It's never too late. And some of you Michael Jackson fan better start realizing that it is people like this lady who will help change minds of a lot people who still have an unfavorable view of Michael Jackson.

Grow up and accept the apology. We have a DAMN legacy to protect. And we need all the help we can get.

Wow. There is a lot of cursing in that video. Huge amounts of cursing.

Anyway, wouldn't you all be more upset if these people never saw the light, if they never acknowledged his legacy? I prefer these sudden fans much more than Michael not being recognized for his achievements. Michael getting the recognition he deserves is what matters most to me.

:::applause:::
You said it! :)

I'll be honest. If it were not for me loving Michael so much, I'd be really, bitter right now. I am but I am trying not to let it get to me.

I think your comments Pam touch the heart of what we're all struggling to deal with at this moment.

Although I also feel that it's a little too late to change public opinion regarding Michael, there's a part of me that still feels the urge to get the truth out. Yet even more so, I feel the incredible need to push his legacy and achievements to the forefront, like you mentioned. There will always be doubters, skeptics and ignorance, yet if we all maintain a positive vibe when we speak of Michael, the negative shadow which has eveloped him for so many years will slowly fade. It can be done, by teaching the truth about both 93 and '05 case's, as well as the extent of his charity work, and countless humanitarian efforts.

All people who do good in the world are faced with those who want to currupt their goals, whether out of jelousy, greed or mere hatred. It's up to us to show the true power of love and never let our belief in Michael, ourselves and man-kind fail.

It's good to see Michael being remembered for the great person he was, but at the same time it's such a huge hypocrisy. Now every channel runs news on how good and loving and caring he was and people go "aww, he was so sweet and kind" as if anyway who wasn't blind enough to see didn't know it all along. If he was alive and the tour started, the criticism as usual wouldn't stop, that's for sure. So, as I do believe some people are finally opening their eyes, I just don't buy the great part of the public will do so. Yeah, they'll cry today to We Are The World but tomorrow they'll be looking for the next celebrity for them to bring down. Now that Michael's gone, I wonder who will be the big target. Watch out, Britney...

I agree. I think Michael would have been forgiving, let's not add to the hate, there's too much of that out there already.

I applaud her. Don't tell me that in school you never had jokes about some minority? Back when rocks were soft and I was in school there were a series of jokes going around about quadraplegics. How bad is that?

I find it really hard to not crack jokes aboout Bush or Palin but they are people too with feelings just like you and I.

Think of the kid that was picked on in school because he/she didn't fit in. People with habits different than ours? What about how quick some of you have been to condemn this woman who is sincere and has learned something that many will never allow themselves to see because it hurt to admit it.

Like you I wish MIchael could have heard the applause when he was alive but you if you think about it you know he would be glad to see it even now.

I choose to just work on myself and not judge. I think it is great that even in death people are learning from Michael... he is still changing the world.

What? Come on, this is the ABSOLUTE truth... I believe this is the human condition Michael sings about in "Human Nature". We may have loved Michael, but even we as people are capable of dogging our fellow man, maybe even other celebrities for example.

"If you wanna make the world a better place, take a look at yourself and then make a change!" Man In The Mirror --- Michael Jackson

Guys, lets accept her apology. She couldn't help being ignorant. Its nice of her to have the integrity to apologise.

Have we learnt nothing from Michael?
Wasn't his message always about love and forgiveness?
We should accept her apology and hope more people come around.

Oh, I don't think it will last long. They are trying to be appropriate. I've already heard some news reporters say that we should allow people to mourn now and wait to focus on the negative.

On BET before the memorial, one of their reporters said something like, "I cannot ignore the child molestation allegations, the plastic surgery, the weird behavior. That's all real. I am a reporter. I have to be objective." It's as though the media thinks focusing only on the negative is objectivity and giving any credit to Michael is biased. Guess what! Ignoring Michael's achievements and the fact that he was a person is not objectivity! Who is she kidding, anyway? Although they haven't focused on it, I have not seen any reporter ignore that stuff.

Its hard for people to admit their negative views of Michael are wrong.. because whether they know it or not, they have to face the fact that their opinions are strongly controlled by the media. Most people would rather keep hating than admit to that...

Here is my personal experience. My neighbor who was the BIGGEST MICHAEL JACKSON HATER there was has changed his mind about Michael. He used to tease me and tell me that Michael Jackson was a has been and that only people in Japan care about a no talented singer from the 80's. He and I used to go back and forth shouting at each other. I would defend Michael to no end. He used to point blank tell me that if Michael Jackson ever died, no one would care and that his death would be just mentioned in a news brief. I told him that he was wrong.

He was shocked by the media out pouring for Michael through out the world. He couldn't believe that every major television network here in the U.S. pre-empted their television programming to cover Michael's memorial. You know I had to get my digs in and tell him, I told you so.

Now he asked me did Michael ever released a greatest hits album. And he has changed his opinion a little about Michael. He still disagree with some of the controversies and I have to respect that. But he has turned around totally. And he said that he would personally go down to the court house to Kick Debbie Rowe's butt if she tries to take Michael's kids away. I always knew that I would prove my neighbor wrong, I just hate that I had to prove him wrong in this way with the death of Michael. So yes it might be too late, but then again it is never too late.

I feel conflicted. Im glad people have learned from this. That being said, these people caused Michael so much pain, which I think ultimately led to his early death.

Will they really change though? Or is it just a passing thought because today made her sad? I hope people really change their mindset - not just of Michael, but of each other.

The first step is admitting the problem yes, but it must continue.

Let her come out. There will be others like her coming out as well.

Michael Jackson was/is a good man.
