The MJJC July 13th 02 Vigil General Discussion From Page 36 [UPDATE: Post 1]

That so seemed to be the kind of atmosphere of the place, and now reading this thread I am glad I listened to my instincts regarding a framed picture I took up and was going to leave :(

Seems they've served me well over the last week or so.

Healer did I meet you???

Heres what i made of the whole thing....

I thought the turn out was amazing, the amount of people there really showed how much Michael was loved.
I felt the attentionseeking, limelight lovers on stage should be appauls of their actions, this was about Michael not them!
I felt the music could have been ALOT louder, although im guessing this may have had something to do with the o2, either way i felt an exception could have been made.
I think next big fan event should be planned at an actual venue, maybe in a years time for the anniversary, start planning now, discuss what we would like to see happen and make it 100% better than mondays vigil

I will definitely not go near any hotels either (Dorchester, Lanesborough, Renaissance, etc.).

Ok... Where to start :D I really enjoyed the atmosphere at the Club House, it was nice and relaxed. I recognised a lot of familiar faces there, but just couldn't remember the names, thanks to my lousy memory, so I just stayed with my friends.

The whole thing at the arena.. ugh. Pretty much the only thing I was happy about was to see people I haven't seen for months and I enjoyed chatting with them. At the same time the "I wanna be seen, I wanna be heard" thing going on on "stage" got me thinking if coming there was a mistake. Bloody attention seekers, couldn't even stop thinking about themselves for one freaking day! They even made me feel guilty for being emotional, sad and shedding a tear. Oh and one thing I heard people on "stage" doing was that some of them took banners others had left there and were holding them? If that's true, shame on you! That's so disrespectful!!
Then I for example found it very akward that when one group of fans were holding candles and remembering Michael, which was a beautiful moment in my opinion, the other group very close was playing, singing and dancing to Black Or White. As nice as it was to hear Michael's music being played there of for God's sake.. it ruined the beautiful moment for me.

I'm glad so many of you got to go. I have been so upset these last couple of weeks that I got really ill with flu, ended up in bed Sunday and Monday and all I could think about what everyone up at the O2. I've read some press on it - all positive so far. You all did us MJ fans proud.

wow...just spent the last hour trying to catch up. IM SO GLAD U ALL AGREE! the problem with this event plain and simple was it wasn't a vigil but a fan party. we planned a vigil they planned a fan party, and the 2 collided with our vigil being drowned out and disrespected. When i get the energy i will be sending a message to that laura!

I'm really sorry if any one felt that we were disrespecting Michael.
I, and i'm sure anyone else that were helping out with the performers, really didn't mean to come across that way.

I assure you, that we didn't want that to happen, and i'm so very, very sorry that you feel that way.

It does, however, hurt that you feel that way. One thing I would never, EVER want to do, is disrespect Michael. We just wanted to keep people under control and safe, and keep spirits high. Maybe that was wrong of me, to want to do the things Michael loved, like sing and dance, but please, please, please understand we didn't want to hurt anyone's feelings, or cause disrespect.

I'm very sorry, once again

Laura told her she has nothing to be sorry for...im composing a letter as we speak!

I'm totally digging this picture, the glove, capturing a moment being captured... it's so simple, yet so expressive.

But if it's called a "VIGIL", why couldn't they have known that loud chanting, singing and dancing is maybe not the appropriate thing to do?!!!!
I really get SO angry when I think about yesterday!!! ggggrrrrrr

I agree with the suggestion for Hyde Park. At least if it is outdoors we can still release balloons and light candles which would be pretty special. (just don't tell the balloon thieves)

The guy with the megaphones is on that site on facebook ,he appears to know Navvi as his photo is with him.

A thought that crossed my mind about Monday: What if people had turned up alone to the o2 (like me), who were new, didn't go to the clubhouse first and had no idea what to expect. Imagine if (like most of us) they were upset and confused by what was happening and went away feeling awful. What if those people didn't realise it wasn't supposed to be like this? That this was not down, to MJJC and just never logged on again and saw the outrage and disappointment? What if this then put them off ever attending events of this nature again?

I guess what I'm trying to say is, I sincerely hope nobody arrived at the o2 and thought this is what had been planned all along and so decided to stay away. Particularly after that comment that Laura person posted, more or less blaming MJJC for everything that went wrong.

Yes he did ,some fan if hes wearing a Rage against the machine t-shirt.

Exactly! I mean nothing against other bands and artists, but wearing a shirt of Rage against the machine to a MICHAEL JACKSON vigil is VERY inapropriate!

I know what you mean. I'm sure there were quite a few fans there actually that though it was all organised by MJJC. I frankly thought the same at first. I thought Gary had been in contact with the O2 people, and therefore, I though that whatever goes on there was discussed with Gary and them beforehand.

But finding out now that it was some bunch of "wannabe-fans" really disgusts me! It was supposed to be a VIGIL for god's sake!!!!!!!
