I dont know how it works in the states.... would a minor have to give evidence or testify as a witness? Because by all accounts Prince (bless him) was summoned to the room while Murray "tried" to revive Michael. Prince would be able to testify about the CPR etc.

Does anyone know?

according the chief who was there she said prince didnt go upstairs. i think theres gonna be enough other ppl who were around who could testify. but if putting jr on the stand is what is needed to help humanize mj and get a conviction then i guess its a case of by any means necessary

I thought Murray's statement said that Prince WAS there in the room? And the family have said it too?

Only if Prince has spoken to the police and told them that he did go upstairs or if Kai Chase makes a statement that Prince went upstairs. Then he could. But its up to the lawyers if they want to call him to the stand. Im sure the lawyers could call up Paris too as she was a witness to the days events (although I have heard a story that the kids were at Encino that day)

The children were at the house, they were playing in the dorn, they were not anywhere else, where did you hear the Encino BS from? That is not true.

I have no idea now. Pretty much everything I hear is BS lol

It was from either Frank, Klein or Toya so not a credible source! :tease:

All I know is that from watching Prince speak for the first time at the grammy's, that very intelligent boy probably knows something.

And I could also see in his eyes, some confusion.

There is no way that wise kid can be completley ignorant to everything that was going on with his father.

I believe there are answers in those two older children.

Frank never said about the children not being at the house with Michael. LAtoya claims Prince was in the room when Murray was doing CPR, she too never said this, if it was Klein **** him

Yes, in the U.S. children ARE allowed to testify. For the sake of their emotional well-being, it's usually not done in open court, but in the judge's chambers. There is sometimes a video link.

In MJ's trial, Rio Jackson testified in open court I thought. I believe he was 12 at the time.

LaToya has stated Prince was upstairs, Murray according to the search warrant said Prince was upstairs, only Kai Chase says he was not. So he is a witness but may not be necessary as there are others who could give the same information. I wouldn't think the defense would want to call Prince, makes sympathy for the victim & the family. The prosecution may want to, it would be stressful for Prince but may give him "closure".

"Murray asked the chef to send up Prince Jackson, the eldest son, and returned to continue CPR. P. Jackson responded upstairs and summoned the security detail."

In the U.S., it's a case-by-case basis, whether or not a child will testify. The courts try to protect the children, and assess their maturity, and the emotional damage an open-court testimony might cause. It's really up to the judge.

Prince has proven himself to be mature beyond his years. Surely, he had some idea of what was going on in that house, and what happened that day.

At this point, we do not KNOW who is telling the truth. Either Prince went upstairs, or he did not. We do not know.

I'd assume the prosecution would want to call him to the stand, and that he would be articulate in telling the truth!

I also heard that Murray called Prince upstairs. There are conflicting stories. I was watching something tonight and they said that the kids could very well be called to testify. I think Prince probably would be called. However, some people think they wll probably plea bargain and it may not even go to trial :-(

That is my worst fear, that it will be plea bargained down and he will get no jail time. Just a slap on the wrist.

I would think the children, both Prince and Paris saw the doctor, knew him, saw exchanges between himself and Michael and depending on where the trial leads may be asked to testify. I would hope they do it out of public view because it will be hard for them I would think. My hope is they don't have to deal with it at all but my hope isn't going to count for much here.

I agree I am hoping if they testify it isn't on Court TV (is that even still a station?) I think they would do ok though. They seem like strong, confident kids. But yes my biggest fear is that they will plea bargain down and he won't get jail time. I pray that doesn't happen

that would kill that little boy.

i still see him as the blond little guy hanging on Michael. I cant see him as almost a teenager lol.

We don't really know their personalities so I don't know if testifying would be horrible or just uncomfortable but for the most part, reliving this over and over has got to hurt them emotionally.

Look what it does to some of the fans. Imagine being a child and losing your only parent and having your whole life turned upside down? All this 'new' stuff and then having to deal with speaking at a trial? I think its just too much for anyone, let alone children.

Sorry you don't want Prince to testify, but it's up to the judge.
There are many options, that put the child FIRST. One is, to ASK him what he wants to do? He made that statement at the Grammy's, and seemed very mature.

The options are:

to testify by deposition, that then is then read in court.

Or, to testify in judge's chambers.

Or, to testify in judge's chambers with a video link.

Or, to testify in open-court.

The choice of all those will be Princes' to make, ultimately.

With that said, I fully understand why you do not want Prince to testify. . .

Thanks for this information. I didn't mean to say they aren't mature. Mature people can still become extremely upset and fall apart when they lose a parent and have to relive this. (first hand knowledge) I just wish them the best. As I said, I know my 'wishes' don't count...but I still have them.

I wish MICHAEL the best. He raised his children well. The most important event in their lives is the loss of their father. There will NEVER be anything more important to them, than this loss. Prince proved himself, in his speech at the Grammy's. I actually didn't approve of his appearance at the Grammy's, because I'm a mother, and I know the cost to those children. But, Prince did incredibly well, and I applaud him.

I lost both my parents. I also have "first-hand knowledge" of this.

With that said, I hope that if he wants to, Prince will testify. And he will blow this case out of the water, despite what you, or anyone, might want.

It's almost over.

Funny. I thought the Grammy thing was a great idea because I felt it would allow them to feel a part of things. Its funny how we all have our own ideas and ways of thinking.

Yes, he did well and so did Paris and poor little Blanket has that Deer in the headlights look.....but I'm thinking he just has those big wide eyes all the time. I don't know what he could say or what he saw so we shall see as it all unfolds...IF the man ever even gets arrested.

Ahh Vic...sorry about your parents. My firsthand knowledge comes from my sisters two children who lost both parents within months of one another and my niece was still young and it was difficult so I saw her and her brother deal with that. But....everyone is different anyway. Some people manage just fine.

Kai Chase said that he met Dr. Murray at the stairs, which were in the kitchen. But he never went up stairs and actually saw Michael. Other I've talked to have said that said thing. Yet, LaToya has said that Prince went up stairs. So....it's conflicting stories...IMO, I would believer Kai and the others who said that Prince was called to the stairs, was told what happened and never actually went to the room. But, children who are "age of reason" can testify in the judges chambers, so they aren't scared or overwhelmed.

I agree. Those children KNOW things.

And to be honest, they are the ONLY 100% reliable source out there on this whole murder investigation.

I know it is difficult, but that is why I want Prince or Paris to testify. If this goes to trial, I will pray for their courage.

Yes, I agree with you. If necessary Prince should testify, him testifying would mean a lot for the prosecution. Prince has proved to be mature and beyond his young years same goes for his sister. I'm fearing a plea bargain as well. Or no charges (God forbid both).

Very true Kasume, I'm sure both of them are able to testify if it goes on trial and they should testify. The only one who shouldn't be involved in this is the little, as the whole procedure would confuse him even further imo.

Absolutely, not Blanket.

I think the excellent knowledge of Prince and Paris is more than enough.

And what gets to me is when Paris said, "Daddy was supposed to be here. Daddy was gonna' perform this year." Even Paris believed her father really was going to perform. It sounds like she believed in him, which means she didn't see anything wrong with him.

Heck, on top of that, I even heard she was pushing her father to get his degree in the Arts since he never went to college but always wanted to.

That tears me up.

That is why I'm always saying those three children were the best thing to happen to him, regardless of all the fame, talent money etc. You can tell how much he wanted to have children see to which extent he went to have them finally. He loved them and they loved him in return, the only form of unconditional love he experienced imo.

I believe he was called up there but he never did go up there. On the other hand Latoya did say in an interview that Murray had Prince watch him perform CPR. So who do you believe?
