This is very interesting and exciting. I just hope that out of those 10 projects, atleast half of them will be completely new material rather than repackaging of old material again. Although I wouldn't mind an anniversary edition of Bad or Off the Wall if they included a substantial amount of behind the scenes and unreleased material. Before the end of the year, probably means new album by November 2010. That sounds pretty cool..

God I can't wait for November to come around.

1. My Bday on November 2nd (I'll be 32)
2. My new baby boy or girl will be born mid to late November
3. Possible new MJ album

November is always a good month to do stuff. :D

I love the idea of a DVD with all of MJ's videos. I've been saying they should do that for years. Maybe we'll get not only the videos (including the rare ones like "She's Out Of My Life", and "TDCAU- Prison version-(at least rare in the USA), but also maybe some concert footage or award show performances......wouldn't mind seeing his Super Bowl halftime show in full on DVD either.

Re: Killer thriller

I know what you meant, but I did not understand what it had to do with the current news.

To me it seems like a rehash of an old dispute, but whatever float your boat.

No, it certainly doesn't 'float my boat', actually, its upsetting and if you listened to everything Michael said in the video I think its obvious what it has to do with the current news.

I will never forget MJ with the "Sony kills music" sign... and yet, I know for sure I will be more than willing to buy any of those "new" 10 records.... BR...DVD.... etc.

I feel like a nasty traitor... and I don't even know why

Same here.. I don't know how to feel... :( I wanted new stuff, but in that he says he can't wait to be free from them etc. but I know I will be giving them my money for Michael's songs/dvds.

Anyway.. nevermind. No negativity right. I just wanted to post how I felt, but then I was asked and had to explain.

It is great news for fans that new things will be coming out.

So does that in red not worry anyone but me? Do i see yet ANOTHER greatest hits album in the future? Am i misreading this?
I guess Sony is going to do some more greatest hits albums or rereleases for some of the newer fans. I'm guessing MJ made a lot of fans after his death, so Sony is probably going to release some stuff geared towrds new fans also. I just hope there will be stuff for the hardcore fans like us. Such a big deal is exciting. Now I think the estate will have enough money to pay off any remaining debts from when MJ was alive.

I was the among the first to say we should keep positive about any new realeases. I thought this would take longer and certainly I expect Sony would be finally out. But I am but a fool. This world is crazy enough and I, after all, I know nothing.

I sooo feel ya! Michael's words are burned in my mind and over the years I've made it my goal to buy other brand electronics. Anything BUT Sony.

But this past year after buying many MJ downloads and TII, I've felt guilt many times.

If someone here has a recipe how to deal with all this, let us know.

You shouldn't feel bad. MJ was still making deals with Sony after what happened with Invincible. Thriller 25, The King of Pop album, and the Visionary Box Set to name a few. MJ put the past behind him, so we can too!

Did he really?
If so, that would certainly be a very good recipe to deal with this feelings of being a traitor. :(

But if so... then... why any new music? Was it only because of the "trials"? I know very well what Sony can do. Not only because of Michael, but also because my other favourite, George Michael... He sang it very well in Older, when he finally get out of Sony after so long... "feels good... to be... free"

:mello:

I feel guilty the same reasons as yall posted..but I am in need of new MJ music again..I'm tired of most of the crap that's on the radio right now..Mikes music refreshes me from all of that!

I read the news. Michael Jackson sets yet another record. He is (and will always be) the biggest artist out there. and I feel proud. Also excited for the new albums that we are going to get.

As far as the Sony goes I always felt that Michael had a problem with Mottola and how he run the company not the company itself or everyone involved with it. Today Mottola has nothing to do with Sony and that's what Michael wanted and achieved (see the video). So I'm okay with them I guess. Plus they did a tremendous job in promoting TII (both album and the movie). And now they are putting in 200-250 million dollars to this deal and that's a huge amount. You can be sure that they'll do their best when this much amount of money is involved.

Plus the news say "distribution deal". It makes me believe that the all decisions are going to be done by the estate and not Sony.

Ok yes there are new fans out there but whats stopping them from buying the gh albums that are already out? I don't want a new GH album i want something NEW something we haven't heard before. Sorry but thats me being selfish.

it just makes me sad. Anything with Sony...doesn't leave a good taste in my mouth or a good feeling in my gut. However, whats done is done. I hope things turn out well, and we fans get the best of MJ, and get the things MJ would have wanted to share with us.

I hate that we have to get this material in this manner, after all that has happened in the last 9 months, but I'm still happy to get new Michael. It's been too long! And $250 million!? Even in death, he can't be topped :)

This is great news. I hope the kids get a decent cut out of this though and their interests are protected? I just hope Joe, Jermaine and the rest of the leaches won't take advantage of this.

Yeah, it is bittersweet.

But I feel like MJ is forever...because of his music. Remember when he said he does not want to die, he "binds" himself to his music....? He was right. We still have him.

and maybe there is no other choice, too, but Sony? i know little about the technical details, but i think Sony still holds the mechanical copyrights to MJ's songs. from the articles posted, it seems like reversion to MJ would even be pushed back to 2017 because of this new deal? (if it's correct at all that mechanical copyrights could become solely owned by MJ in the future)

so maybe it's a choice between letting his unreleased music sit in the vaults for years to come because they don't want Sony to profit from it, OR strike another record-setting deal with Sony (with clauses limiting Sony from generating profit from merchandise et al), make the fans happy and make more money for the estate.

Was Michael still a free agent before he passed or was he still signed with Sony?

Sounds like a good deal to me. We all know that Sony did Mike dirty, but this is a business. Leave that stuff in the past and move on to make new money. Branca and McClain are good at what they do, so I'm sure its a great deal.

I'm really hoping the rereleases are exciting with a bunch of unreleased content. Marvin Gaye has Some deluxe editions of his classic albums that are jampacked with incredible unreleased material, and great packaging. I hope they will take the time to give Mike's back catalogue the respect it deserves.

As far as 'new' albums, I hope they are very selective about what is released. I hope they don't add unnecessary contemporary production, or take demos and try to pass them *off as new songs. I'd really like to hear the songs in their raw form rather than attempts to clean them up.

There's a lot more I can say, but In all honesty, they should just give me a job with the estate. I would help give the fans what they want and deserve, all the while making money, covering costs and expanding Michael Jackson's legacy.

And if we don't get more concert DVDs I'm gonna explode

I beleive he was a free agent. All the albums/sets he put out after his contract expired were one time deals I think.

Mr. Jackson acquired ATV for $47.5 million in 1985. Sony in 1995 paid $150 million to become a 50% partner in the venture. Mr. Jackson's half is now valued at at least $1 billion.

My prayer :angel:is that Prince, Paris and Blanket, one day after they are adults, get some of this money.

Only MJ can get a big record deal like that alive or dead..HE IS THE GOAT!! I love you MJ and I know you have something great in store for us!

they will. if it were up to Sony, MJ's kids would be out on the street. but MJ outsmarted sony, so his kids are just fine.

I vote you in.

Sony just signed a deal giving the estate 200 million in gauranteed money. If they wanted MJ's kids "out on the street" they wouldn't be making such a deal. People need to stop living in the past. Yes, MJ had problems with Sony. That was long ago when Sony was under different management. Since that time, MJ had numerous dealings with Sony. The music industry is a business and busineses are in it to make money.

MJ set up a trust long ago, for his kids, that have nothing to do with these deals. nobody's living in the past. we just care for MJ. we happen to have feelings.
we know about music business. these deals are made because of June 25, and the power of his music. not because of somebody's heart, over at sony.

Couldn't agree more Eric it's business and businesses change.

Sony is going to go all out early 90s styles

wE cannot live in the past or it may as well be June 25th everyday.

Embrace it, mj has a vault, Sony his record company forever will be distributing the product. Nothing changes, the estate gets the final say just like Michael did.

I'm begging fans to move on

So true.

And just to quote myself last week:

My humble opinion?
I want to be positive about it.
What's the use on concentrating on Sony making more/less money on this? Is that any news at all? That's what we have left now. They've got US on their hands, and by "they" I mean also the Estate, which is basically a company too. All they have to work to make more money and, let's face it: WE are willing to pay as long as it gives us some drops of MJ music after so many years waiting in the desert.

YOu see.... I was soooo positive last week and so clear about business, money and the like... but now that we see the facts... I admit I don't know what I really feel. Sure, I WANT those new releases. And I know me, I will be counting the hours to get those. All of them!! But then the "Sony kills music" signal hunting my brain... but then MJ working with Sony in Thriller 25 and the like.... Aaggggg.......

No doubt, WE MJ fans are sooo hard to pleased
Me, the first! :mello:

I do want this music, but then......... I don't want to be traitor, Mike :(
