TMZ: Showdown between Katherine and MJ's Estate

TMZ has learned Katherine Jackson has gone into multiple businesses with a man who promotes online nude gambling -- and the stage is now set for a showdown between Katherine and the Michael Jackson estate.

Katherine met Howard Mann five months ago. We're told she instantly liked him, began inviting him to her grandson's basketball games and other events, and then they started talking about publishing a book.

The book -- "Never Can Say Goodbye: The Katherine Jackson Archives" -- is being published this week and sold online at www.jacksonsecretvault.com.

But there's more. Mann tells us he and Katherine are producing a biopic on Katherine Jackson's life. And he says they're going into business to sell 273 unreleased MJ tracks. Mann bought a storage locker owned by the Jackson family after they didn't pay the storage bill. There was a treasure trove of stuff in the locker, including the 273 tracks, along with 19,800 photos.

But we've learned the Michael Jackson estate is drawing a line in the sand. Estate lawyer Howard Weitzman tells TMZ, "Mr. Mann can listen to the tracks in his living room or play them at cocktail parties, but he has absolutely no right to the intellectual property and has no claim to the music."

Like I had stated earlier.. let the countdown begin ppl must learn to obey and go by the law. Why?! Because it's the way it is we do not live in the jungle for everyone to do as they please sorry Ms Katherine but same goes for you to

The thing here is that neither Katherine nor MAnn or anyone else named Jackson has the rights to profit off Michael's music that's the thing, that is how it was while he was alive that's how it's going to remain when he's dead. Or if you know of any occurrence that happened in Michael's adult life (age 21+),when his family released his albums., singles, videos.,, concerts and made money off his songs and his music publishing please let me know and refresh my memory.

Well I hope Mr. Mann has a lot of money, because when it comes to Michael Jackson's MUSIC, Mr. Mann will not only be going up against The Michael Jackson Estate, he will ALSO be going up against SONY MUSIC.

Remember SONY just signed a 250 MILLION DOLLAR deal with the Estate and I'm more then positive that SONY will have something to say regarding Mr. Mann's plans.

Does Mr. Mann really, REALLY want to go up against the attorney's that SONY has on retainer? We shall see.

The estate has put this guy on notice before so he is well aware of who they are and what they will do to him. And now you see why Michael did not leave his Mother or any other family member in charge

I definitely see why Michael did what he did!

Ms. Katherine needs to put her foot down (even though I'm sure she won't), Joe Jackson is most likely the one who got her involved with this "online" dude because Joe is trying to find ways to come up with the 300 MILLION DOLLARS he needs to complete his Gary "dream."

All of this is way TOO much, in my opinion. Ms. Katherine was living a nice comfortable life before Michael left us, now she is being pulled in a million different directions all because of MONEY! It's just straight up shameful.

No offense, but is there a market for a Katherine Jackson BIOPIC?

Especially since there already is the "Jackson" movie, which covers Ms. Katherine's courship with Joe and everything that follows.

I don't think so.

Copyright of the music belongs to the songwriter / composer.

The estate most probably cannot ask for the return of the tapes , as it is found in the storage and the physical item belongs to whoever controls that storage.

But they cannot go on to release the songs without approval.

It's the difference between the physical property versus the intellectual property.

I agree and if i was michael i'd do the same thing.

Poor katherine, like randy said his parents have so many people in their ears. I know she wants to do what best for michael's legacy and her family but you can't please everyone.

About that biopic i don't know what else they'd cover, maybe it's be like the jacksons movie but from her perspective...that would be interesting.

mann is involved with vaccaro. i guess katherine agreed to go into a deal cause she will get paid under the table. any of things in that storage that belong to mj is the property of the estate. the court ruling was over certain jackson family members things. mjs was not apart of it and vacarro was order to hand it over. he sold it on to mann.

Ms. Katherine should be enjoying her golden years, she certainly has the income to do so. All of this pulling in a million different directions must be very stressful for her, especially since she can't seem to say NO to Joe Jackson and all of his hare-brained schemes.

Where are ALL of Michael's siblings? This "online" dude sounds like bad news, in my opinion. SLIMY AND CREEPY!

Randy talks about the folks in his mother's ear, well what the heck is he doing about it? There is no way on God's Green Earth, I would be allowing ANYBODY to take advantage of my mother. NO WAY!

he doesnt mind. it helps him. makes katherine look like she cant look after the kids and he steps in. imo hes the one leaking half the crap. than acting like the good guy who saved the day.

Randall is whispering into her ear just like the beloved husband Joe and the rest of the slime balls at times like this I feel for Katherine but then again, she let's it happen. She's being taken care of for the rest of her life, she's living a comfortable life thanks to the fact that 1 of her 9 kids, hit it big (Janet did too but Michael's in another league). She should thank Jehova for all that he's given her through her son and step down. There is no need for side business' and under table money only if .. ppl were gracious enough. Katherine with all due respect needs to stand up look behind and learn from her past mistakes. What makes my blood boil is that Michael's three children are around such slimeballs, the children that Michael protected and loved so damn much just, just b/c some people want more more of everything. Like you said she should be enjoying her golden years, she's already a lady in her upper years, she is no naive 20 year old anymore. Michael's wishes need to respected, at least now that the eve of his first year anniversary is approaching his wishes need to respected, and not dismissed. The best way Michael protected his children was to let them gain control at an old age. Michael Jackson was a wise man way ahead of his time may God bless him and his children.

Vaccaro was ordered to return some items. In last september, the estate met Vaccaro who said items were stolen

He is desperate he knows time is running out and he is aware that 40 year old's are not easily to be fooled. He's hating the situation he is in. But he can't change nothing about it I'm sure Michael has the last laugh from above.

what a mess. I hate it that all this mess is overshadowing the importance of this week. :( we should be remembering Michael, it's only a few days left when we are still able to say that this time last year Michael was doing this and that, and instead there are all these questionable people crawling from every hole wanting to capitalize on Michael's name taking advantage of his mother in the process. I hate that.

If MJ wanted all that stuff in storage, he would have put a stop to it before all that stuff was sold. Mann bought it fair and square. Looks like a case of stiff shit to admins of the estate.
 
tbh i could do with the distraction. i turned sky on this morning and they were showing an advert for TII. right as i turned it on it said " on the anniversay of his tragic death" i didnt have time to change the channel over. i felt so sick. of all the words i had to hear it was those.horrendous this month has been terrible i just wish it would be over with. its like its dragged so much just getting to that day
