THINK MINK: Janet Jackson has wrapped up another gig. The singer will join the ranks of Diana Ross, Sophia Loren, Lauren Bacall, Elizabeth Taylor, Liza Minnelli and, more recently, Elle Macpherson and Elizabeth Hurley, as the newest face in the Blackglama advertising campaign, 'What Becomes a Legend Most'?

Jackson was photographed by Rocco Laspata of Laspata DeCaro, at the Milk Studios in New York. The campaign, which begins in September, will span print, online and outdoor outlets. The ads will appear in Vanity Fair, W, Vogue, T Magazine and Harper's Bazaar, as well as WWD and Style.com, in addition to the international editions of Vanity Fair, Vogue, Elle and Harper's Bazaar. Blackglama will also mount a Times Square billboard at Broadway and 45th Street in September. The company has increased its marketing spend 40 percent from a year ago, but wouldn't disclose dollar figures. Blackglama has also expanded its product line, introducing leather bags, eyewear, fragrance and fur accessories, in an effort to make it a less seasonal, more year-round brand.

A behind-the-scenes video documenting the making of the campaign will appear on the Blackglama and Jackson Web sites. Jackson flew to New York for the shoot after performing on the finale of 'American Idol,' where her performance shot up to number one on iTunes (which she pointed out via Twitter after the fashion shoot).

So did she get to keep the mink?

'Yes, Janet did get to keep the coat,' confirmed a Blackglama spokesman, a perk for the legends of the past, who all got to keep the coats they were photographed in.

Janet looks beautiful in the picture :wild: .............

BUT does this coat is synthetic? I hope it is not of animal origin.
For thousands of dollars it better be real ful lol this company is a high end retail line and alot of legends have been the face of the company. I'm not for animal cruelty but the coat does look nice on her.

I might be wrong, but I am assuming for the same reason you commented on mine.

Get it?

Usually when there's a thread that doesn't interest me, I don't bother going in it.

#TakeNote :clapping:

Then why comment in a thread about fur? :sigh:

#ConflictOfInterest

Janet is wearing a real fur coat so don't expect members not to air their opinions on it. Please remain respectful about this as obviously its a very controversial subject.

PETA TO JANET JACKSON: “B*TCH, YOU SO DESPERATE

It was announced on Thursday (June 15) that Janet Jackson is the newest celebrity spokesman for BlackGlama Fur and the folks at PETA are already coming for her… hard.

PETA spokeswoman Amanda Schinke says:

It’s amazing what celebrities will do when their careers are on a downslide, but we didn’t think that Janet was this desperate. Surely she knows enough about suffering and unjustified death to recognize that both occur in the production of a fur coat. We are asking her to think again and to donate these stolen skins to be used as bedding for animals orphaned by other human-caused disasters, such as loss of habitat.”

I don’t know who’s worse as far as complaining about every little thing, the LGBT community or PETA. Anyway, check out the behind the scenes video for the photo shoot.

Thank you PETA!!!

Why does PETA always feel the need to release statements with personal attacks?
I think that's the reason why more people are starting to not like them as an organisation.

I understand that they want to stop people for using fur and that is a good cause however calling people desperate? Was that really needed? I don't think so.

At the end of the day, this is her choice. I think it might damage her image a bit but I guess she probably wanted to be in the same line as the other legends who did this before her. She probably didn't think about the rest.

I personally wouldn't wear it (don't understand the appeal either). But she is her own person and is allowed to think differently ( even if it is hard to understand why she would advertize something like this.)

i understand and respect PETA purpose of saving the animals from cruelty but calling her a petaphile on their twitter isn't going to help things, they should talk in a respectful manner about the disagreetment over the whole things but that's my opinon

PETA is the worst organization when it comes to anti-animal cruelty. It sickens me with the way they promote their campaigns. They use nude women, suggestive themes, personal attacks, and horrible "humor".

If you want to air your opinions on whether or not it's cruel to wear fur coats, at least do it through a respectable organization (or no organization at all).

Don't support animal cruelty either...but PETA seriously needs to go sit their asses down somewhere with that desperate ish...that was not necessary AT ALL.

No one takes PETA seriously, they are hypocrites. Janet is not going to be phazed by their little comment, she has joined a list of legends and is getting paid lol i hope she jsut ignores them.

Although I do not like Peta, they are right, wearing fur is not something that should be excused

that's exactly why I can't take them seriously and they fail how is Janet desparate when blackgama was the one that asked her she did not come begging them for it so they fail

I'm against fur myself, but how dumb to you have to be to think that doing some BlackGlama thing is being "desperate"? She's Janet Jackson FFS.

I'm sorry, but what a bunch of morons for even stating that her career is on a "downslide".

NOTE TO PETA: I respect your anti fur policies but honestly, enough with the BS statements/hatred that make you lose credibility. STFU Peta, try actually thinking before you make any statements.

that's how they spelled it..'petafile'? wow...how insensitive..

and suddenly, PETA recognizes that MJ suffered and died an unjust death? they were attacking MJ, not too long ago, while he was alive...

making a 'caring' statement about animals, at the expense of children, really minmizes their cause.. and coming up with the word 'petaphile' just keeps the lie in the atmosphere, unjustly connecting pedophilia to Michael.

this organization is too extreme, and doesn't help their cause. even the people who wrote this article, don't respect PETA, and they probably believe in the same cause that PETA proports to believe in.

animals do need to be protected, and represented. but PETA is not the organization to do it. they are not helping.

I do have to ask though...Didn't Janet say she loved animals lol

Also, I gotta agree with Janet...when I think about the company she's in, I don't think she belongs either...but I get why they chose her...

Yes she did. Michael also loved animals but he ate chicken. No one is perfect but if people can live a vegan life i applaud them but that's not for everyone. Some people won't eat animals but they'll ear them and vice versa.

Anyone remembers Randy wearing some kind of animal back in 1984 on his shoulders when he used to dress up as Michael's look alike?

though there are stories flying around on both schools of thought, there is no proof of what MJ's later diet consisted of. third parties say he ate chicken, he said he did not, and Will I Am said MJ ate fruit, and there were rappers that said he was strict vegan. so, the jury is out on that. there are no photographs of him eating meat, after he made clear about his love for children and animals. i realize that when we hear something over and over on this site, we tend to believe it, sometimes without undeniable proof, but there still is something said for being responsible. printed itineraries are no substitute for photographic proof.

i know some people hate the fact that MJ was able to keep an air of mystery about many things in his life, but he was able to do that, and that is fact.

A few years ago there was a pap picture of michael i think he was at a KFC drive thru lol alsothe chef who cooked for michael said he ate chicken/soul food about once a week so this is no suprise. It's not a crime and it doen't matter if he ate animals once a while that doesn't mean he wasn't a healthy eater.
