Picture Of The Day

Child abuse iceberg

childabuseiceberg.jpg

Taken from Child ONE Europe Guidelines on data collection and monitoring systems on child abuse

It breaks my heart and it kills me inside to think of the real scale of the horrifying phenomenon of child abuse which goes on all around us. Upsetting is not a word strong enough to describe my utter disgust that true criminals go unpunished for decades at times and end up hurting and scaring for life the psyche of countless little children, while Michael's life was made pure hell because of LIES.

It is sickening to think of all the 'insospechables' as the Spaniards would call them out there who are the real criminals - judges and doctors [sport coaches and TV personalities], politicians and housewives while Michael, an innocent man and the ultimate champion of children's rights was forced to face such indignity twice and fight for his life, his children's lives, his freedom and his good name and almost lost it all because of schemes and lies.

The Sandusky and Saville cases are just two awful examples that have come to surface in the meantime. The phenomenon though is probably much more spread than anybody can imagine and it is one of the greatest tragedies of our time.

I actually agree we should protect life in every one of its stages from inception to death. What about the period in between those two, what people who are born? Do we care only about embryos? What about children? Don't they need protection from monsters, abusers or neglectful parents??? What about the disabled and their opportunities, what about people on death row, what about social injustice, what about old folks? A complete, coherent and truly PRO-LIFE culture does not end with the opposition to abortion. That is only the door to a huge house built on the foundation of solidarity and nurtured by charity. We should protect, defend and fight not only for life, but for the QUALITY of life, especially when it comes to the most vulnerable parts of society.

Lakers gAL

LA-Lakers-Ladies-NBA-everyday_E6298E7F.jpg

la_lakers.jpg

I miss 'ball, haven't seen a proper game in ages. Used to be a huge Bulls fan for many years up until MJ retired and then switched to the Lakers side - Magic's history making tenure there, Shaq, Kobe, Phil Jackson.
Edit 1 - i did see the U.S. team win the Olympics this year and i was somthin' like dis --->

A friend of mine to whom i owe a lot in terms of educational opportunities promised me a Lakers women's shirt long ago, but he only got me one from Greece (no offence to that beautiful country with such aaa long history and civilization).... JM, i'm still waitin' for that t-shirt, one of these days imma have to come over there and buy one for myself :D

Edit 2 - little did i know back when i wrote these words just for the fun of 'em they would end up being a tiny prophecy. Less than a year later i was indeed at the Lakers Store buyin' me some gear, and not just one, but two t-shirts and some other things as well. The stuff i got and done there is legend(ary) and infamous by now. Mickey's expression on my other tee is related to GURU's song - 'if you're one of my people, you gon' know that, but if aaai ain't feelin' u player/playerass, Mickey's face is gonna show dat'

Unfortunately, i didn't get to see my friend cause he was in Nigeria at that time. I guess we will have to leave it for some other location and time, remains to be seen where and when exactly, but those are just details.

That yummy lil' tune goes somethin' like "I'm undefeated when MJ's on my team". Ai say - forget who is it, the real question is who is MJ, which one of them? Cause the world is full of 'em - Magic Johnson, Michael Johnson, Michael Jordan....Who exactly was Shaq talkin' about? Considerin' he is a ball player, the two most logical assumptions would be either Magic or M.Jordan, right?*and the crowd remains in awe of her sharp cookie credentals *

Don't know nothin' about no MJ on mah team, but JM for sure is on my team and i are indeed UNdefeated cause i can't and i won't lose the ultimate game. And it has nothin' to do with anything worthwhile on my undeserving part. The simple reason for that is that i belong to the biggest, coolest, most awesome team ever, the one whose coach, captain, defender and offensive player goes by one name only, THE greatest name in History - JESUS.

And who don't like me [& my team]??? Well, well...what is a girl left to say? I guess the classic.....2 bad, too bad about IT. :p

If you don't like me, the feeling is mutual and reciprocal. Sometimes i don't like some of you, some of you i don't like most of the time. Heck, not even i like me most of the time, so i can't completely blame you for feelin' the way you do. But you must know this - i do love all of you all of the time, even when the expressions of my love aren't immediately obvious and have rather rough packaging. I suppose i learnt from the best, the very master and perfecterr of this highly elusive, but ever-present art. Fear not though, i don't expect the same in return, you may limit yourselves to the feelings of more or less strong antipathy. I do the same when it comes to me and my huge ego.

Oooh! Nice bubbles. Thanx for the support. They did take care of me and remember they're my OC's, so it's like they're really with me.

Here's my latest one and for Halloween.

A Spanish master - Velazquez and his down trotted version of a mythical figure. Although i don't believe either in mythology or astrology, it is interesting to see the connection between this symbol of war, but also fight against injustice, the planet Mars and us, quick tempered Arians

Beautiful and very, very true. Thx for sharin'. :)

I actually have to disagree wit ya here my friend. At times, the older you get, time goes by even slower, so painfully and dreadfully slow that months and even days can seem like years. Trust me, i know what i'm talkin' about. I understand what you mean though - kids and young folk can't wait for things to speed up so they can make their own decisions and be taken seriously, whilst the seniors want to make time stop.

Such a funny cover there Ash - 101 ways to please your frog That's sizzling ol'right  All of them titles are funny actually. Thx 4 postin'.

Thx as well for your kind reaction to my dad's birthday. Both my folks are 56 actually, mom being a few months older. I'm just very, very blessed to have both of them around, together and helping me so much. I've got friends who have either lost one parent or have lived without one because of divorces, so i can only be thankful to the Lord, even if my ingrat self most times don't show it. Throughout my life they have been my guardian angels here on earth and even during the times when i lived by myself they have supported me. Seems to me the good Lord is taking me from one 'custody' to another. I actually don't have that much of a role in my own life lolol, i simply watch it unfold and it feels like i'm just another actor in it and not even playin' one of the main roles either lol again.

Whatever. I'm only 24 the time seems faster to me, but until about a few decades later I'll see that the time will slow down you'll see.

OMG - where did ya find that Ash? Oh dear, how could he? I mean i can understand he liked animals and beasts and stuff, but still....how on earth could he have that creepy tarantula crawl all ova his face like dat? I know they are not poisonous or anything but i still get the shivers just thinkin' about it Did they check to see if that creature hadn't been takin' any natural calls or gettin' it on before they applied it to his face? Well, i'm sure there were liquids leaked after that thing made contact with him, cause he was sooo darn irresistible, right? lmybehindoff I just love how he looks all calm and collected, when most probably he was either just the tiiiiiniest bit scared or at least ticklish lolol. Nice effort on his part to seem cool, the operative word being 'seem'. :cheeky:

the colors, the details, the glove....they ALl ARe amazing. Love 'em, love'em oh, so very, veryyy much.

Can't wait to get my hands on them - the cd to listen 2, the t-shirt to weaaar.....

I've always loved this picture, so sweet. Thx 4 postin' Ash.

LOL @ that fake arse shoppin' session. At times, when i'm in the supermarket i think of that video and what a special experience that was for Michael when for us, common folk, it is one of the simplest and easiest things to do, somethin' we take for granted. But Michael was aware of the price he had to pay for helping and inspiring so many. It might have been hard, but it was his life. As he said it himself, he accepted it, it came with the territory. He dealt with fame in the best way he knew how - with a great degree of humility and kindness, both of which are rather rare traits in people nowadays, famous or not.
