Official Statement From The Estate Of Michael Jackson To The Fans

Maybe this is why it takes Michael so long to put out new albums, he is hard on himself we know, but then he has to deal with the us -- the fans and our expectations as well as trying to keep his voice sounding like it did 25 years ago.

Oh, why did you say such a thing?

The Simpsons story is a little bit different: It actually is Michael SPEAKING on the episode Stark Raving Dad but was uncredited; however the song Happy Birthday Lisa is sung by the vocal impersonator John Jay Smith on the episode. Michael did however write the song, and HIS version is available on YouTube etc. Compare them, it's pretty interesting. I love Mike's version! Thanks for bringing this up though because it's relevant now.

Yeah, I meant this version: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1wxwYspOwQc That's 100% MJ. No doubt about it.

And isn't it sad that I'd much rather listen to that little demo over and over again than Breaking News because I can HEAR it's 100% Michael on that demo....

Yep, for me too. When i heard that i was like...WTF?!!! Other things in the song have me doubting but this part...nah.

I actually thought even more it wasn't MJ after this, lol ;)

I listened to it Tsjukiii, but i hear no difference with this one

With the accapella version, you can tell they've really cut and pasted lots of pieces together and altered it somehow.

Where do I get an MP3 version of that? I never knew he recorded it. I just enjoy listening to the fake version I have because of it's historical value…

Science has no place in music? I'm sorry, but vocal analysis and the work of forensic experts definitely has a place in this case. Unfortunately, the results don't find in your favor, so you choose instead to ignore them.

My opinion on the issue has not changed one bit since this started... from the moment I heard the song the first time I knew it was MJ. How exactly was I hypocritical? You're the one questioning the accuracy of people that worked with MJ for 30 years and also the forensic results. Give me a break.

Michael's family will do or say anything that will put $ in their pocket. MJ distanced himself from these people while alive; don't you think there's a reason for that?

The best way to honor Michael's musical legacy is to let us hear his work... even if some of it was unfinished, they did get one of Michael's most trusted producers to finish the track.

As I stated to L.T.D., if you feel that strongly about it, then sue the Estate/Sony for the tracks being fake and at that point they will have to provide the results in court.

However, you would have the burden to prove the charges that you are saying -- you would have to have proof of your own, and a YouTube video of Jason Malachi singing the macarena just isn't going to be enough.

I agree with you, but LOL @ your last sentence. :D

Re: Official Message From The Estate Of Michael Jackson To The Fans

I agree with your concern about Cory's comment that too many non-family are involved in the running of the estate. That made me question what is really going on here.

Anyway, I just reread the statement. Some other people have mentioned it, but I think it's important to mention it again. The statement says 8 named people that have worked with Michael and 2 unnamed forensic musicologists agreed that the vocals are Michael. However, it does NOT say that 100% of the experts that listened to the track agree that it's Michael.

Since the statement isn't specific about this, it seems possible that there are some people that heard the track did not agree, but the estate just isn't telling us about those people. The list of people that heard the track who didn't agree (which apparently includes Taryll Jackson and Cory Rooney) is also important.

I get what you are saying about the sources cited. But, keep in mind that this statement was written by a lawyer who is supporting that these songs have been shown to be authentic. At some point, perhaps the opposing side will do an official statement also with the same type of info in terms of why they believe the songs to be fake. I'm am like some people also; if it is truly this important to have caused such a flack, then bring about legal action to attempt to stop it. If the principle of the matter is that important to cause all these tweets, then shouldn't it be important enough to go past the tweets?

Petra I am not sure if you joined the petition or not or if you connected with anyone about our efforts on one of the other fan sites or any of the community boards but at this point we are asking fans to wait.

It would be better to make our moves later in groups though now we stand alone.

Once the site is up we can get everyone connected and get things moving.

I'm amazed at Sony's audacity. It's like they said okay we lied, we tried to play you for fools and now we're still going to put the single out...

So many fans thought it was Michael, some claimed it was all Michael, all I truly know is that if it is Michael then they altered, compressed and messed up the track. It's wrong!

I just read someone's post wondering about the Casios saying they registered two days after June 25th. Now I'm wondering after all the many people that betrayed Michael if they too were amongst them. What if like it seemed Brett Ratner had filmed a conversation of Michael, the Casios did the same with that song?If they registered it on the 27th who could prove them wrong. Maybe Michael was working on it and they recorded him without him knowing and that's why they have such a compressed sound maybe a tape recorder was hidden...

I don't know but I care.

I imagine someone will say conspiracy theorist or whatever else one can imagine but I know even those saying conspiracy have their own conspiracy of those they think are making up conspiracies. So how about we skip the silliness of that and make logical, rational discussions here?

The site may go up sooner. I'm angered that BN is on that track listing, some other questionable things that are going and Sony's blatant lack of regard for Michael's music.

I spoke to a friend earlier and they were all excited about the track listing and I questioned how can they be with BN on the list even after it was confirmed that Sony lied and an impersonator was used at least on part of the tracks. If we don't fight them for this we'll have sold Michael out for the price of one more CD I told him... my love wont die and I'll fight to protect his legacy!

Re: Official Message From The Estate Of Michael Jackson To The Fans

In the end of the day the one person that could settle this mess is not here. If he was here this mess would not be occuring whatsoever. It makes me miss him so much more which I didn't think was possible.

AMEN! Ugh, I didn't think I could feel as bad as I did during those first few weeks but alas...I can. I hate this, miss him soo much. They can't even respect him in death! makes me want to scream.

huh? So what did i listen to? There was a track on youtube, were the vocals were mixed with someone else's voice, and the lyrics, were something about Michael Jackson.

GOOD POINT! like he always said, "I have the greatest fans in the world, we are family!" yup, and you can't fool his family!

also...WHAT the hell is "DYKNWYCA" SERIOUSLY?!? I understand BN or TYWMMF but DYKNWYCA?!? sorry I'm lost on that one. hahaha

Thank you Gaz for posting the statement. I see they acknowledge our concerns, but all their reassuring words don't change what I feel when I listen to this track, which is nothing. I don't feel Michael in this song and I feel cheated when I listen to it.
Although there still seem to be concerns being expressed in some quarters about the authenticity of the lead vocals, notwithstanding the opinion of those who worked with Michael, and two independent forensic analysts, ultimately, Michael’s fans will be the judges of these songs, as they always are. We take all fan comments very seriously, and as I’d stated above, there is nothing more important to the Estate than Michael’s music, his legacy and his fans.
The fact that there were concerns should have been enough reason not to release this ever. The fact that there still are and the controversy and distrust is causing should be enough reason for that music not to be on the album if they really cared that much about Michael's legacy and his fans.

As for the producers/engineers mentioned, some are saying it's Michael and some are saying it's not.We are caught in the middle and I choose to trust my heart and my ears.Like I said, there never should have been any doubt.

We miss Michael and one of the treasures he left behind is his music. This should have been a time of excitement and joy,a celebration of his talent. The poor decisions that are being made have tainted it for many of us and that is inexcusable.

I feel exactly the same way.

We are continuing to follow up with those who have worked in the studio or on tours with Michael, and if any new information comes to light, we will keep you and the fans advised.

Thanks,

The estate "following up" for any "new information" for any that "comes to light" just went out the window when they released the track list and announced the new single don't u all agree? Why even say something like that and then in less then 24hrs later announce that in fact BN will be on the album!? Hmmmf

I didn't read ALL the posts here, obviously -- it's over 70 pgs. But I do have to address all the comments I have seen about fans that just "heard it's not MJ" from somewhere else and ran with that. Prior to Breaking News release, I hadn't been on this forum in weeks. I surely don't read TMZ, so I hadn't heard the rumors yet about Katie and the children's concerns about the vocals. I knew absolutely nothing except what was being promoted by Sony via Michael's official Twitter and Facebook. However, as soon as I heard the song at midnight, I was convinced that it was not all Michael. I do hear his voice in some of it, but mostly I don't. That was my opinion from being a fan for over 20 years. I called my best friend, who has also been an MJ fan her whole life but was just as clueless as I was. I didn't express any concerns about it, I just reminded her to listen to the new song. She was iffy about it too. I don't think it is the power of suggestion that has fans up in arms, it's the total lack of anything that sounds remotely like Michael Jackson for the majority of the song.

Okay, maybe the science is right and all these professionals who have worked with him for the past 30 years. I accept that. They're right. I'm an idiot. I'm wrong. I will totally accept that. But even if it is truly his vocals, Teddy Riley, for example, says Michael is one of his best friends. I assume some of the other guys he worked with feel the same. They should know just as well as we do that Michael would never let a track like BN be released, under any circumstance. It was probably in the Billie Jean home demo stages where he's not even saying real words half the time. If not mistaken, most artists have hundreds of songs that are fully recorded (not demos or snippets) that never make albums. Why not start with those? What is so special about Breaking News (except that it's supposedly the last music he was working on) or these other questionable tracks that it's worth a scandal and risking everything?

I actually like the song, regardless of who sings the lead vocals. I still plan to buy the album, which I would hope all fans to do. It's lose/lose for us anyway it goes. If the album flops, then that's going to tarnish his legacy (and the media will have a field day with it), which I know none of us wants to happen. If we buy it, then Sony, the estate, or whoever is in charge of future releases will continue to try to sell us anything. But when I put into perspective what's more important, to me, it's to continue to support Michael.

Yes. Nicely said, PYT. :) I just wish you wouldn't buy the album. That's the best way to support Michael when there's fake tracks on an album with his name on it.

True PYT.

I like the song too, and I sure will support MJ.

That right there is what a lot of the fans are feelin right there in a nut shell! I feel more towards the fear of Sony doing this again in the future? All because we don't want to see a flop and even the family fears this now after they made so much noise about it! Nice little trap ain't it! SMH

But, it really bothers me to fill the pockets of a person that was a filler in a MJ song, possibly in the lead vocals? I feel so uncomfortable doing that, it isn't right?! MJ would be pissed, no question about it, if he knew people were messing with his music and legacy!!

I don't do itunes nor have I got an Ipod to get the ones I know for sure is him! So, I am screwed! Unless I buy one which was not a plan I thought of and money I don't want to spend just for this CD! Because I don't do digital downloads! I like the idea of a real CD in my hands! So I'll be wrecking by brain over this until the last minute the Cd comes out! This whole thing has gotten me so down! Whatever excitement there was at the beginning of all this has died completely on Nov 8! :,(

If I thought that would get whoever is behind this to fess up or admit they shouldn't use these tracks, I would be 100% for boycotting the album. I don't think that would happen though. They will take any type of failure of flop and use that against him or blame him.

It does suck, but I really feel like I don't have a choice.

That's actually a good idea. I don't like downloading music myself, but it's a good alternative for people that do instead of boycotting the whole album.

where do you got this official statement? i have another one from this link http://www.legendarymichaeljackson.nl/?p=2173
it starts in this way :"I am writing you in response to your questions " so they're writing to one person in particolar.... it isn't directed to the fans.
And at the end it says :if any new information comes to light, we will keep YOU AND the fans advised."
SO how is "YOU"? to which person they are talking with?

Exactly. What a crock of shit. They knew the track list was finalised and that they would be announcing it imminently. I don't know what to do, I'm furious it's gone this far! There are non-MJ tracks on a Michael Jackson album! Worse than that, these songs are sung by someone pretending to be MJ! I can't wait to receive the next album with E Cas on lead vocals!

Yes. Nicely said, PYT. :) I just wish you wouldn't buy the album. That's the best way to support Michael when there's fake tracks on an album with his name on it.

Agree. 'Protecting his legacy' can only be done by preserving the quality of his work, not by blanket-buying every product with his name on it. MJ would be horrified by this situation. Buying individual tracks on itunes and bypassing the fake songs is the best option. The album cover's hideous anyway! :puke:

it's good they did an official statement!the circus must stop!Michael wouldn't like that...

Saying you have evidence is not proof. Providing the evidence for review is giving proof.

Thank god some people here are not merely sheep who believe every lie they're told if it comes on letterheaded paper.

I strongly agree. Especially with the bolded part:yes:
