Hollywood Tonight - Official Discussion Thread

Re: Hollywood Tonight *Threads Merged*

it says "She's only fifteen" at the end of the second verse but is actually "She's headed for the big time" :) that's what I noticed when i saw the scans :)

Re: Hollywood Tonight *Threads Merged*

Yep, that's it. It's written "Because she's only fifteen" but he sings the same like in the first verse: "She's headed for the big time that means"

Re: Hollywood Tonight *Threads Merged*

A number of people thought DYKWYCA was Hollywood tonight. I think the songs could be related, and that he may be singing about the same young girl who is now a bit older, and has dreams of movie stardom to escape her life of abuse. But how much have things changed for her? She is still "giving hot tricks to men"... thoughts?

Re: Hollywood Tonight *Threads Merged*

I'm confused. Why would they give wrong lyrics on the official booklet accompanying the album? and why would they change lyrics in the song as well coz it looks like the lyrics in the booklet were the original ones.

Re: Hollywood Tonight *Threads Merged*

this is the true start to the album for me.. i always just skip ahead to #2! haha

Re: Hollywood Tonight *Threads Merged*

Oh, okay. That's not stuttering...........that's hearing the lyrics "to tinseltown" from both Michael's backgrounds and his lead vocal at the same time !!!

I hear what you are thinking !!!

Well, someone else called it stuttering (whoever I quoted), but I knew what part they meant. I love that part a lot. :wild:

I love this song and i have been blasting it in my car for the last couple of days.
However, i just wish Mike had had the chance to complete it. As someone said in a post above, one more verse and a bridge would have made this track out of this world. Also, i am sure Mike would have ironed out the "To tinsel town" stutter/glitch on the final recording.

Noooo, it sounds cool like it is. I couldn't even tell he was saying "tinsel town", lol. It sounds "Michaelish" :D

I dont think the "to tinsel town" line is a glitch, I think it sounds like that because of MJ's beatboxing in the background.

Yeah, but still it sounds strange. I actually can't hear him sing "tinsel town", there is just a weird beatboxing noise at this point.

Re: Hollywood Tonight *Threads Merged*

It's definitely not a glitch, because it happens 3 times in a song. I do think it sounds a bit weird, too, though.

Re: Hollywood Tonight *Threads Merged*

That's so weird.... first time I heard the song I fell in love with that ending. I just thought it was so cool.

It reminds me of how Who Is It ends, breaking down with just the beatboxing and the strings....

I'm not overly in love with the spoken word middle eight from Taryll, but overall the song is so strong, it doesn't bother me too much.

Truly excellent song.

They should have brought Kanye West in to do that instead of Taryll.

Re: Hollywood Tonight *Threads Merged*

Re the "glitch" on the line "to tinsel town", well we were all wrong....

TeddyRiley1
@Dangerous_Inc it is Tingle town, his beatboxing that you may hear as well.

Re: Hollywood Tonight *Threads Merged*

It's obviously "tinsel town" though - it is a nickname for Hollywood and is in the booklet. "Tingle" town doesn't make sense.

I don't believe a word that Teddy says.

Re: Hollywood Tonight *Threads Merged*

It sounds so great when MJ beatboxes.

I think HT was almost 100 % finished when MJ went to a better place.

Re: Hollywood Tonight *Threads Merged*

The thing I love about Hollywood Tonight is that it's now complete enough to be released, but Michael's beatboxing is clear throughout the whole song, so we get a raw glimpse too of how he wanted it to sound...you can hear the sound of the demo...we get the best of both worlds on this one...I love that...

There's always someone who knows better.

You were there were you? No...oh.....then shhhh

Teddy's heard the acapella. He would know better than you would.

I can hear how it would be tingle.....does it make more sense? No, doesnt make it true.

Ive heard that Taryll has been removed from the iTunes copy of Hollywood Tonight. Is this correct?
