"Big Boy": Michael Jackson's First Recording, Found After 42 Years

An excerpt from the article of CHIGAGO READER:

''Similarly, though the Ripples & Waves' "Let Me Carry Your School Books" mentions a Johnny and a Joe, they're not the Jackson Five's drummer and daddy. But when Steeltown released the song on the band's only single—the group included one of Keith's nephews—Jackson mania was in full swing, and Keith wouldn't have minded if folks made that assumption. In fact he was hoping audiences would assume they were hearing a lost Jackson Five recording, and even renamed the group "Ripples & Waves + Michael"—technically accurate, since they had a vocalist named Michael Rogers. (When I asked Keith if he wanted people to think it might be Michael Jackson, he replied, "I sure did!") Some online sources still insist that Jackson sang on the recording, but Phillip Mack, drummer for the Ripples & Waves, confirms that it was Rogers.''

i'm a bit confused. that means the vocals are not from michael jackson?
or, the lead vocals by michael rogers are not that good, and they used michael jackson as lead vocal?
*confused*

This could be found in youtube after a simple search.

I was very impressed after hearing it. No doubt you could tell he was a prodigy.

Guys that song was playing on Martin Bashir's interview with Michael if you didn't notice :D

^ Apart from Michael being just Michael the music accompaning the doc (and the way the music was edited in) was one of the good things in this disastrous Bashir mess.

again, false. the snippet is the early version.
and there is no complete version of this.

One of my biggest regrets is having this and selling it when I needed some cash. :(
Such a rare item.

Sorry people, but you're not getting the point of the story.

BIG BOY was available since the J5 DAYS in MOTOWN.

What's been found, is an ''earlier'' version of the song, not recorded at STEELTOWN, the ORIGINAL version for BIG BOY, which remains unreleased.
Thanks for pointing that out. I was gunna say that cuz some people seem to be confused. I hope the version sees the light of day as an official release.

I have the 2-CD called 'Early Recordings'. It contains 24 tracks and I think the first disc is kinda demos or alternative takes, but there's only one version of 'Big Boy' on the second disc..
