Hi, I just signed the petition.

The tribute song to Michael in my siggie just so happened to be a Murder Ballad, so I added the blog link in my post. Blog and petition are hereby double linked through siggie and my private blog.

I have just signed the petition however if the charges are increased I hope that at trial the jury are also offered a lesser charge just so that if they dont all agree to to murder2 he doesnt walk away free.
 
Signed and passed on but I'm worried that if it increases, he may walk. Better a year in jail than none.

Press release, RE: Fans Mobilize for Increase in Murray's charges

After only a few days of testimony, it has already become obvious that the charge of Involuntary Manslaughter against Conrad Murray is too light for the severity of the crime; Murray is the doctor charged with causing Michael Jackson’s death. Michael Jackson fans and supporters are mobilizing to urge the District Attorney prosecuting the case to increase the charges to Murder 2. Fans request that Steve Cooley, L.A. District Attorney, David Walgren, L.A. Deputy District Attorney, and the presiding Los Angeles Superior Court Judge Michael Pastor, elevate the charges against Murray to the more appropriate Murder 2. Given testimony to-date, it is also urged that the charges be added of: concealment of accidental death; reckless endangerment; reckless conduct; conspiracy; obstruction of justice, and any additional charges that may result from testimony in the preliminary hearing.

Second-degree murder is ordinarily defined as "1) an intentional killing that is not premeditated or planned, nor committed in a reasonable "heat of passion" or 2) a killing caused by dangerous conduct and the offender's obvious lack of concern for human life". http://criminal.find...ond_degree.html

Already, testimony indicates that Michael Jackson had been dead for some time before Murray finally called 911. Testimony reveals that Murray, a cardiologist, did not know how to perform CPR; he had no cardiac rescue equipment available, despite having given Jackson a dangerous anesthetic intended only to be used in hospital operating rooms and clinics. Further, Murray neglected to tell paramedics what drugs Jackson had been given, and according to testimony, his primary concern seemed to be concealing medical apparatus and medications, instead of helping Michael Jackson. These and other factors point much more to Murder 2, than to Involuntary Manslaughter.

The preliminary hearing has just begun, and is expected to run for two weeks, yet testimony already indicates that Murray displayed “an obvious lack of concern for human life.” Fans, supporters, and those interested in fairness in the American justice system are organizing for action to have Murray held fully accountable for robbing the world of Michael Jackson, a father of three children, and a cultural and entertainment icon. Petitions are planned, as are internet calls to action, and print-advertisements. The power of these united voices should not be discounted.

Can I just ask why the charge in bold ?first asking for murder 2 then saying adding concealment of ACCIDENTAL death, surely that is admitting that the death could have been accidental which could be counter productive, if it was an accident then its not even a likely conviction for IV.

The evidence so far does not seem to mean accidental death.

The list of charges was the result of research into what is possible under California law. Adding "accidental death" is not an admission that the death was "accidental" as in common usage of the term, and will not negate the other charges. If these charges are added, there will be instructions by the judge, of course.

There is also a request for a charge of "conspiracy." I want to be clear on this. This does NOT mean "conspiracy theory." It means that during the commission of a crime, OTHERS were involved. I.e., it could mean Murray asking Alberto Alvarez to (allegedly) conceal evidence, or Murray's phone call to staff in Texas to remove items from a storage locker.

And I'd like to repeat what I've said elsewhere, that a charge of Murder 2 does not necessarily take I.M. off the table. Very often a judge will offer the jury a CHOICE of which charge they feel is appropriate in deliberations.

The addition of charges is called "stacking charges," and was exactly what was done to Michael -- in the hopes of getting a conviction on something. But, as we know, Michael was innocent! We don't know why the DA has not done this already, and don't know all the ins-and-outs of LA politics. But, the M.J.A.N. initiatives are designed to apply public pressure -- by using our constitutional right for fee-speech -- which is a useful political tool to influence any public official. Happens all the time. . . .

Thus far, we are over 800 signatures. VERY impressive, and thanks.

PRLog (Press Release) &#8211; Jan 07, 2011 &#8211; After less than twenty-four hours, the petition circulated by the Michael Jackson Accountability Network (M.J.A.N.) has already had an outstanding response, with over 2400 signatures and quickly climbing. Michael Jackson fans and supporters are urging Steve Cooley, the L.A. District Attorney who is prosecuting the case against Conrad Murray, to increase the charges from Involuntary Manslaughter to Second Degree Murder; Murray is the doctor accused of causing Jackson&#8217;s death. Given testimony to-date in Murray&#8217;s preliminary hearing, it is also being urged that the charges be added of: concealment of accidental death; reckless endangerment; reckless conduct; conspiracy; obstruction of justice, and any additional charges that may result from testimony in the preliminary hearing.

Fans have mobilized to spread the petition, through the M.J.A.N. website, through the largest Michael Jackson fan club, MJJ Community, and through other fan-sites, and also through social networking. The response has been overwhelming. The completed petition will be sent to the District Attorney, and also to L.A. Deputy District Attorney David Walgren, and to the presiding Los Angeles Superior Court Judge, Michael Pastor.

Testimony in the preliminary hearing now seems to form a pattern of Murray&#8217;s reckless endangerment of Michael Jackson, and a disregard for his well-being and life. Testimony has been heard that points to concealment of evidence; to Murray&#8217;s failure to inform EMTs on the scene or to inform medical professionals at the UCLA Medical Center of medications given, and multiple phone-calls made by Murray during the time when Michael Jackson was in distress, or already deceased. Fans and supporters are calling for an immediate increase in the charges, and additional charges added as warranted by information that is forthcoming in testimony. The goal of the petition is at least ten-thousand signatures; it is a goal that seems likely, given the enormous response to this call for justice.

I just want to say that if you agree with the petition.. sign it and let's show them & the world that there really is millions of MJ fans across the globe, that care, that realize that there has been a mans life that has been taken, and it is very unnecessary!!

The "PRELIMINARY HEARING" in the Case of the People of California vs. Dr. Conrad Murray began on Tuesday, January 4, 2011.

According to news reports, prosecutors have said they plan to call as many as 30 witnesses for testimony that will last approximately two weeks (I just heard news reports that it may end as early as Tuesday, January 11, 2011). THIS IS NOT A TRIAL BY JURY.

TO CLARIFY FOR EVERYONE, HERE IS THE DEFINITION OF A "PRELIMINARY HEARING" IN CALIFORNIA -

"The preliminary hearing is held to determine if a crime has been committed and if there is sufficient cause to believe the defendant committed the crime."

&#8220;It is a "mini-trial," where prosecutors present witness testimony establishing a crime was committed, and how the defendant (Murray) is responsible."

&#8220;At the conclusion of the Preliminary Hearing, the Judge will determine whether or not there is sufficient evidence or probable cause to support the charges against a defendant (Murray) and bind the case over to Superior Court for trial.&#8221;

IT IS OUR UNDERSTANDING THAT DURING THE PRELIMINARY HEARING, THE DISTRICT ATTORNEY OR THE JUDGE CAN ADD ADDITIONAL CHARGES AND/OR READJUST THE BAIL!!!

THE FACTS:
Dr. Murray administered Propofol in a residential home setting without the aid of appropriate medical equipment to monitor his patient, Mr. Michael Jackson.
Dr. Murray, a Cardiologist, knowingly performed Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) on a bed contrary to medical guidelines on the proper method to perform effective CPR.
Dr. Murray left the room for an unspecified amount of time after injecting high levels of Propofol into Mr. Jackson. Given Dr. Murray&#8217;s Medical credentials, we find it hard to accept, he was unaware of the grave danger.
Dr. Murray did not use sound judgment nor exhibit good faith and wasted precious time in calling for 9-1-1 assistance, which we believe is extreme willful misconduct.
Dr. Murray did not tell the truth regarding the Propofol he administered to Mr. Michael Jackson as those amounts are not supported by the autopsy findings of Mr. Michael Jackson.
There seems to be deliberate inconsistencies in the timeline provided by Dr. Murray.
Clearly, we feel all of the evidence supports a premeditated abandonment of Dr. Conrad Murray&#8217;s Hippocratic Oath as a Medical Doctor.
In addition, it is our strong belief that Dr. Murray&#8217;s deliberate actions warrant a charge of nothing less than Murder in the Second Degree!
Given the gravity of the situation and the fact Mr. Jackson&#8217;s life was taken, the charge of "Involuntary Manslaughter" is a slap on the wrist!
We represent millions of interested people around the Country and the World, who are dedicated to this case and its final outcome.

I just want to say I've noticed many of the same signatures...even on just one page. We're not going to be taken seriously if they see that it's just a few hundred fans who signed multiple times. [If you're going to do that, please use a different name and type a different comment for each signature.:doh: :ph34r:] Also, please think about who you're writing to and why - put just a little more consideration into your comments - this is not the place to promote your YouTube MJ Tribute montage video...I don't think the D.A. is interested... :doh:

FYI, for the MJAN petition we have the capacity to remove multiple posts by the same person, and will complete that before the petition is sent in. We are also editing out inappropriate comments, such as Murray is a !@&$!.

So, we can remove posts, but of course not ADD any.

M.J.A.N. members are presently working hard to eliminate duplicate posts, and inappropriate language.
