Re: Jury Selection / Jury Questionnaire (all threads merged)

TMZ is something of a kind...and Murray should go to traila and be punished...even if I don't understand why he doens't do the right thing and just admitt he did a huge mistake that cost Michael's life...

Re: Jury Selection / Jury Questionnaire (all threads merged)

What I want to know is Where is this quak MURRAY'S mUG shOT?!!! By the looks of his face...Who has insomnia now? How about some propofol for YOU muRRay??? :ermm:

He looks worn out and drained but it's no one's fault but his own. I wonder if he would be willing to take propofol/ a cocktail of sedatives to get those bags from under his eyes

Re: Jury Selection / Jury Questionnaire (all threads merged)

Would somebody please be kind enough to update me? I've been quite busy and the beginning of jury selection somehow got past me without noticing (still can't forgive myself for that one!).

I've read that the prospective jurors were given questions but that that the in person selection hasn't begun yet. As I'm not quite sure how this works: do they make a first selection on the basis of those questions that were handed out and then during the second round they get questions asked personally? Was that how it was done during Michael's trial?

You are exactly right. Questionnaires are given to get a better idea about that prospective jurors know and think about the case as well as their background. Then they eliminate people who seem to have bias. The ones left is called back and questioned by the attorneys both side and then selected / agreed upon to be on the jury.

Michael's case was similar. The prospective jurors were given 41 question questionnaire which I wouldn't call intensive. Half the questions was demographics, occupation, family related. The other half included questions like race factor, working with child advocacy groups, knowing anyone with cancer, know anyone accused of / victim of inappropriate sexual behavior, know Michael, spent time at Neverland and how much they followed the media and previous accusations towards Michael etc. Then they were interviewed and selected.

Re: Jury Selection / Jury Questionnaire (all threads merged)

I can't wait for this trial! I want to see the killer dealer in jail!

Re: Jury Selection / Jury Questionnaire (all threads merged)

Question about bias... what do you guys think would make them not want someone as a juror? I think they obviously wouldn't want one of us to be a juror (die-hard fans) but how do they know? Someone can pretend to not be a fan.. It works the other way too.. how can they tell that someone doesn't secretly hate MJ??

simply by asking. lying on a jury questionnaire is perjury. and the questions are generally arranged in a way to see the bias. we'll understand it better when the questions become unsealed.

Re: Jury Selection / Jury Questionnaire (all threads merged)

i guess it was mjs fault that murray sat on the ohone and didnt monitor his paitent and took at least 20 mins to call 911 aswell?

yeah, that was what I was thinking! Geez, Murray will do anything to save his lousy ass! No doubt it was MJ's fault too that Murray's such a deadbeat dad to his kids; has enough to pay for treats for his "girl-friends" but can't pay child support; too!

Whatever, Murray, W-H-A-T-E-V-E-R!!!! No, he hasn't said that but no doubt it's a coming up soon, watch this space......!!!!!

I'm listening to Whatever Happens, and as I was reading this the "whatever, whatever, whatever, whatever happens" part played

Anyway, I don't have much to add. Just thought it was a funny coincidence.

I just hope that a decent jury with some common sense gets picked.

Yes, their called a Jury Consultant!

Jury consultant – a key to winning high stakes legal cases. A jury consultant works with a legal team during jury selection, a trial and sometimes post trial. In most cases, a jury consultant is hired for expert insight into human behaviour – not for knowledge of law itself.

Yep i'll be waiting :timer:

reminder : third panel of prospective jurors will be given questionnaires today

The jury candidates are now filling out questionaires after having heard the court orders issued by judge Pastor.

Conrad Murray was introduced before his counsel unlike other days and also contrary to other days there were no replies that followed for him or any member of counsel save one very faint wisp of a hello when Mr. Walgren of the prosecution said goodmorning.

The jurors are diverse in age range and ethnicity at least nine being present in the main room that were black. This is a larger number than previously seen.

When the judge discussed the time frame the trial would take one man actually whinced several times and later pulled out an envelope that he utilized to perhaps calculate the time.

Everyone had heard of the trial so no one raised their hand when judge Pastor asked any to do so if they had he then told themWe weren't expecting you to have just dropped for some other planet.

That's about it.

God blessed!!!

One more thing, Murray also has to wait until the jury process is complete before he can leave for the day but both sides of counsel have left the courtroom.

Jackson questionnaire focuses on drugs, celebrity
LINDA DEUTSCH, AP Special Correspondent
LOS ANGELES (AP) — Prospective jurors in the trial of Michael Jackson's doctor have disclosed in writing their views about prescription drugs, doctors, celebrities in court and the life and death of the entertainer.

The 29-page jury questionnaire released Thursday explores whether prospective jurors are fans of the pop singer, attended his concerts or memorial service, bought his records and whether they saw his posthumous concert film, "This is It."

The prospects were asked to disclose their positive or negative feelings about Jackson and Dr. Conrad Murray, who is charged with involuntary manslaughter in Jackson's death.

They were also asked their knowledge of drugs allegedly taken by Jackson.

A total of 170 people who said they can serve on the two-month trial filled out questionnaires and will return May 4 for in person quizzing.

Jury Prospects Asked If They Are Jackson Fans
Jury prospects quizzed on their views about Michael Jackson, prescription drugs and his doctor

POST A COMMENT BY LINDA DEUTSCH AP SPECIAL CORRESPONDENT
LOS ANGELES April 7, 2011 (AP)

Lawyers in the case against Michael Jackson's doctor want to know if prospective jurors were fans of the pop star, how much they know about his death, and how familiar they are with 27 different prescription drugs he may have taken.

A 29-page questionnaire with those and other questions was released Thursday after prospects who said they could serve on the two-month trial of Dr. Conrad Murray finished answering its 117 questions.

Candidates were asked if they had ever seen Jackson or his family members in person, whether they own his records or DVDs, attended his concerts or saw his posthumous concert movie, "This is It," and if so why they watched it.

In one section, prospects were asked if they knew any of the more than 100 potential witnesses. Included on the list were Jackson's three children — Prince, Paris and Blanket — as well as his parents, brothers and sisters.

Large chunks of the questions involved familiarity with drugs and exposure to media coverage of the case, including Internet and social media postings. Jury prospects also were asked if they had ever posted blog entries about the case.

In a section headlined, "Attitudes about celebrities and people in the news," they were asked, "Do you think that people of wealth or fame are treated differently in the court system?"

Notably, there was no mention in the questionnaire of Jackson's highly publicized acquittal after his child molestation trial in 2005.

Murray has pleaded not guilty to involuntary manslaughter. He is accused of gross negligence for administering the anesthetic propofol and other sedatives to Jackson before he died.

The trial is likely to focus on his competence based partially on his reactions after Jackson stopped breathing on June 25, 2009.

Jury prospects were asked, "Do you have any positive or negative feelings or opinions about Conrad Murray or Michael Jackson?"

Lawyers also wanted to know if they had ever taken prescription drugs, including propofol, and a long list of sedatives and mood altering drugs.

The lawyers also wanted to know if they had friends or family members who were ever addicted to prescription drugs, and if they themselves had been in a drug and alcohol rehabilitation program.

In addition, prospects had to disclose if they were ever involved in an emergency medical situation and whether that would prejudice them in deciding the case.

The answers of prospective jurors will be released when they are questioned in person beginning May 4.

I wonder if a perspective juror says "yes" I have had propofol during a in hospital procedure if they will conider that person to be a good choice for a jury member.???
