OH HELL NO!
@VIAJustice4MJ -----Murray was brought in, by the side entrance..which I don't think is fair. Michael Jackson was forced to go the front doors..There is also a Murray supporter holding a sign that reads:" I support Dr. Conrad Murray, an innocent man who must be exonerated".

Maybe this " supporter " is a friend of Latonta....

Muarry always get good treatment when he has to enter the court. You guys remember the way he was allowed to enter on the first day to plead not guilty. He even left secretly while all the paps were at front looking for him to snap pictures. Michael got none of this humane treatment. I guess their rationale is that they want to keep him safe so he will not be attacked. No one cared about that when it was Michael.

I guess we're gonna see a lot of differences in the way they treat Murray for this case

[h=1]Lawyers in Michael Jackson case to meet with judge[/h] By Alan Duke, CNN

STORY HIGHLIGHTS

  • Prosecutors are studying the questionnaires of 145 potential jurors
  • The court needs 18 Los Angeles County residents qualified to sit in judgment of Murray
  • The final phase of jury selection starts next week
  • Opening statements for the trial are scheduled for September 27

Los Angeles (CNN) -- The judge in the involuntary manslaughter trial of Michael Jackson's last doctor will meet with lawyers Thursday to clear up any last issues before the final phase of jury selection starts next week.

Dr. Conrad Murray's defense lawyers and the prosecutors are busy this week studying what 145 potential jurors wrote on a 30-page questionnaire designed to help them chose the jury that will hear the case.

The process is designed to find 18 Los Angeles County residents qualified to sit in judgment of Murray.

The questionnaire, about 30 pages long, is being used to determine if the potential jurors can put aside biases and what they've heard about the pop star's death to reach a fair verdict. Lawyers will question them about their answers when they return to court September 23.
Murray defense lawyer Ed Chernoff and his team will study answers to the jury questionnaire to determine which potential jurors have already made up their minds about Murray's guilt. They did this once before, but the trial was delayed over the summer.

"One of the things that we learned in the case the last go-around in the jury selection, it's absolutely shocking how many jurors think already they know everything about this case," Chernoff said.

Last week, Murray's defense team failed to convince Judge Michael Pastor, as well as an appeals court, to shelter jurors from trial media coverage by keeping them sequestered in a hotel for the duration of the trial, expected to last about a month.

The Los Angeles coroner has ruled that the singer's death on June 25, 2009, was caused by an overdose of the surgical anesthetic propofol, combined with other drugs.

Prosecutors have accused Murray, who served as Jackson's personal and full-time physician at the time, of having a role in the overdose.
They contend that Murray used a makeshift IV drip to administer propofol intended to help Jackson sleep, a practice they argue violated the standard of care and led to the pop icon's death.

If convicted on the involuntary manslaughter charge, Murray could face up to four years in prison.

Opening statements for the trial, which will be televised, are scheduled for September 27. The judge told the jury pool he expects their service will be over on or about October 28.

Re: Status Hearing for September 15 2011

Chernoff is grabbing at straws with that statement. You can say that about any potential jury. It's pure speculation.

I agree. Why is he always talking like the media and general public is always against Murray when they've been actively blaming Michael for his own death since the day he left this world? Doesn't Murray's camp ever pay attention to the impact of their own statements?

Los Angeles (CNN) -- A man who testified earlier that he shipped large amounts of the surgical anesthetic propofol to Dr. Conrad Murray in the weeks before Michael Jackson's death apparently moved out of the United States and cannot be located for this month's trial, prosecutors told the judge Thursday.
The coroner ruled that Jackson died on June 25, 2009 as the result of an overdose of propofol combined with other drugs.
The judge scheduled two additional hearings for next week to decide if the prosecution can use the missing witness' previous testimony and to get a head start on the last phase of jury selection in the involuntary manslaughter trial of the pop star's doctor.
Los Angeles County Superior Court Judge Michael Pastor said the hearings will help keep Murray's trial on track for face-to-face questioning of potential jurors September 23.
Prosecutors want to use the previous testimony of Tim Lopez, given at Murray's preliminary hearing last January, because they've been unable to contact him since he moved to Thailand. Pastor said prosecutors must show Monday that they have done everything possible to reach Lopez.
A hearing Monday morning will also consider the prosecution's request to exclude the testimony of Jackson's makeup artist. The defense wants Karen Faye to repeat statements given in interviews about what she described as Jackson's ill health in the weeks before his death, as he was rehearsing for his comeback concerts.
The prosecution told the judge in a hearing Thursday that much of what Faye has said in the past is based on what she heard others say, not her own recollections.
The judge will also consider if the defense can call a Texas medical examiner to testify about his inspection of the Los Angeles County coroner's facilities and practices. Deputy District Attorney David Walgren said Thursday that his testimony is not relevant to the Murray case.
The judge again raised questions about the prosecution's plan to present testing done on university students in Chile who voluntarily swallowed propofol, the drug the coroner said was partly responsible for Jackson's death. They must overcome defense objections that the study was never published or reviewed by other scientists.
The prosecution wants to argue that the experiments disprove the defense theory that Jackson died after he drank the drug, not from an injection given by Dr. Murray.
Pastor also scheduled a hearing for next Wednesday afternoon to begin the process of deciding which potential jurors should be dismissed "for cause." Both sides will be able to challenge jurors based on their answers given to 113 questions posed to them in writing last week.
Defense lawyer Nareg Gourjian said he only received the defense copy of the 30-page questionnaire responses Wednesday. Lawyers for both sides have only until next week to study the 145 jurors' answers to determine if the potential jurors can put aside biases and what they've heard about the singer's death to reach a fair verdict.
Lawyers will question them about their answers when they return to court September 23 to find 18 Los Angeles County residents qualified to sit in judgment of Murray.
Prosecutors have accused Murray, who served as Jackson's personal and full-time physician at the time, of having a role in the fatal overdose.
They contend that Murray used a makeshift IV drip to administer propofol intended to help Jackson sleep, a practice they argue violated the standard of care and led to the pop icon's death.
If convicted on the involuntary manslaughter charge, Murray could face up to four years in prison.

Thanks thunder. who bought the plane ticket for that guy to leave. unbelievable

your welcome.:)............ I know right how friggen convenient is that...regardless if they can use his testimony from before...it still would of been nice to have him here incase there was any further questions. By law I dont see how he could of legally left the country before the end of this trial UNLESS he has permission that we are not aware of

Re: Status Hearing for September 15 2011

Wont they have subed him before he left the country. its crazy. yes they have his previous testimony but its important to have him on the stand saying murray lied to me about where the stuff should be sent and asking for something to keep him awake etc i suppose if worse came to the worse and the judge says no they have the paper work showing murray bought it.

karen faye should be ashamed of herself and what the info re chile. the media

Re: Status Hearing for September 15 2011

They have his testimony from the pre hearing. And Murray's own words about where it came from

Re: Status Hearing for September 15 2011

I can't believe the key witness left. why is he a key witness? is it that important where Murray got propofol? What's important is his lack of care for his patient...

So it appears Tim Lopez (the missing witness) has been on probation twice w/ the NV Board of Pharmacy--08/14/2008 and 10/13/2010.

Re: Status Hearing for September 15 2011

I wouldnt say hes a key witness.obviously the media like to hype it up. but its better hes on than stand than not. but they have his testimony and even murrays words.its not like murray is dening he bought it and u need this guy to prove it

Re: Status Hearing for September 15 2011

B.S is the only defence they have.

Since July 2009 it's the same b.s, every month a new " excuse " a new " shocking fake story " ( they must be friends with jermaine ), just for to have some first page in the medias.

Even the judge Pastor saw that, and I think he alredy pissed off with that.

Thanks for the updates guys.

Re: Status Hearing for September 15 2011

Same here. im trying not to think of it as a reality until it starts as theres been so many last min delays

Re: Status Hearing for September 15 2011

it's just hard. i some times sit and think how did things go from "Jackson is planing a comeback!" to "dr Murray is being charged for Jacksons death!" even for me who didn't care at the time about the comeback or anything about him, it's still seems surreal
