MJ Forever Tribute/ MJJC Statement / Estate statement / Fan letter pg51/ GLE put on administration

Re: Michael Forever Tribute/ MJJC Official Statement / Discussion / Estate statement / Fan letter @p

Global Events was only set up in March by film producers Michael Henry and Chris Hunt.
Documents filed at Companies House show that both men left the partnership on October 8,
the day the concert took place.
:shifty:

I agree with Rhilo and Missred, nothing will come from the family, and to be honest, I believe at least Latoya knew. Once again, who would associate with that family but crooks?? Once again, they look like idiots.
I dont believe any damage is done to Michael's legacy. People know Michael was not the same kind of guy, they know he was reliable in business; a single look at his career proves it.

But the others just have increased their laughing stock status... Now let them try to organize a yearly tribute... I'm sure tons of artists will queue at the door...:hysterical:

Trouble is they wont look to themselves, it's so much easier to blame us.

Well, this time we have nothing to do with the fact their 2 associates they trusted so much to "honor Michael's legacy" just bolted off without paying the staff. But I wish the mainstream media will pick this up...

Jackson show organiser put into administration

THE firm that staged last month’s Michael Jackson memorial concert in the Millennium Stadium has gone into administration owing thousands of pounds.
Bristol-registered Global Events LLP organised the event, which was boycotted by some members of the Jackson family and which saw a number of announced acts pulling out before the night.
A spokesman for London-based insolvency practitioners RSM Tenon confirmed yesterday that Global Events had gone into administration, adding: “We are currently conducting our initial review of the business.”
Global Events was only set up in March by film producers Michael Henry and Chris Hunt.

Documents filed at Companies House show that both men left the partnership on October 8, the day the concert took place.
Yesterday Mr Henry, who runs a film financing company called Limelight Film Finance from an office in London, said: “All enquiries about Global Events should be made to the administrators.”

David Donovan, Wales officer of the broadcasting union Bectu, said: “A number of my members are owed money by the company. We can’t do much to help them because the business has gone into administration.”
A spokesman for the Millennium Stadium said: “We are not among the creditors. We were paid up-front by the company at the time of booking.”
Up to 50,000 fans attended the Cardiff venue for the Jackson family’s tribute to the Thriller star, who died in June 2009.
The run-up to the concert was beset with difficulties, including a planned ticket ballot based on charitable contributions – later scrapped – and uncertainty over the line-up.
Some family members thought it was inappropriate that the event was staged midway through the trial of Jackson’s personal physician, Dr Conrad Murray, for involuntary manslaughter. He was subsequently convicted.
In a joint statement, Jackson’s brothers Jermaine and Randy said in advance of the concert: “While we wholeheartedly support the spirit of a tribute that honours our brother, we find it impossible to support an event that is due to take place during the criminal trial surrounding Michael’s death.
“In light of this, we feel it is inappropriate to be involved with such an ill-timed event and its promoter Global Live.”
The Michael Jackson Fan Club agreed with the two brothers, issuing a similar statement.
Jackson fans posted messages on the concert’s Facebook page questioning ticket prices and the process for buying them.
There was also controversy over the inclusion and subsequent removal from the list of bands playing of Kiss, whose leader Gene Simmons spoke publicly at the time of Jackson’s death of his suspicions that the star was a paedophile. Jackson was acquitted of child molestation in 2005.
On top of this, Jackson’s estate said at the time the concert was announced that the promoters had never sought or obtained permission from the estate’s executors to use the singer’s name or image.
American hip-hop group Black Eyed Peas pulled out of the show days before it went ahead citing “unavoidable circumstances”.
But the three brothers who did attend the concert insisted it was a fine tribute to the man known as the King of Pop.
Explaining why they had chosen Cardiff as the venue, Jackie Jackson said three days before the event: “We wanted to have the event somewhere we could make sure everyone could come and join the festivities.
“I hear it’s a really nice stadium. It’ll be my first time there and I’m really looking forward to going to Cardiff and saying hello to all our fans there and seeing what it looks like because I’ve never been there before.”

Re: Global Events MJ Memorial concert organisers gone BANKRUPT !

No surprise.

Re: Global Events MJ Memorial concert organisers gone BANKRUPT !

How soon until we hear someone from the family start to blame the fans...

Haaaaaaaaaa so the guys left the company the day of the event. Remember we did say that this company was made by them and Latoya so they could have this event and fleece fans. I am surprised 50,000 people went though. I wonder if that is true. I am hoping the people go after the appropriate Jacksons and GLE owners for their money. Now lets see what Latoya and the brothers will say about that.

I'd be surprised if they make any statement to be honest. I believe THEY got their money, or we would have had a few whining tweets by now. I truly hope the staff can and will sue those guys.

I think so too. I think the plan was to pay them first, although we did see a problem with the airline tickets. However, once they paid that there was only a few pounds remaining. Latoya obviously got some good money from it, and I guess for the rest of the Jacksons the opportunity to be on stage was part of their fee.

Can fans for once be proven wrong about the family and their ventures.

Can fans for once be proven wrong about the family and their ventures.

That will only happen if we were not around for a while. We have had too much experience with them. Have you noticed every time they make a deal and mess up, you do not hear a squeek out of them. Almost as though nothing happened. The leave the mess for others to clean up--typical.

Can I just remind everyone to try and maintain a respectful tone. Some people have crossed the line with their remarks. I understand how you feel but please try and make all critical posts constructive rather than just plain spiteful. Thanks guys.

These are the people Taj should be showing outrage over on twitter! This was a fiasco from the beginning and it has clearly proven to be a fiasco in the end. This was all about getting the big bucks from 'gullible MJ fans who will go along with anything as long as Michael Jackson's name is affilated with it', or so they thought.

The Jackson's in their attempt to not work with the Estate, to present a 'proper tribute', chose to jump on the great promises made by these people and in the end yet again, they are left in an embarrassing situation.

^^but I do not think they get embarrassed. If they did they would not be doing these things over and over.

The jacksons live in their own little word of denial.they never except responsibility when they mess up and blame everyone but themselves.to the point of throwing mj under a bus

in the beginning some family stans were accusing us of being against b/c we'd hate anything the family does, well guess what now after our words are proven to be right. I can't get tired of saying I TOLD YOU SO. HAHAHA

Re: MJJCommunity Official Statement about Michael Forever Tribute

When it comes to the family people like to say "Give them the benefit of the doubt" "Michael loved them" "They are Michael's family" "What would the kids say if they hear us" "If it was not for them we would not have a Michael Jackson" To me once you see the pattern of their behavior which has been consistent, the best way to safeguard your money is to not buy any products they offer if it deals with Michael Jackson. If the products and shows are about their careers, then let their fans support them. Why should Michael's fans be the main buyers of their products, yet they have no respect for our feelings and concerns in relation to Michael?

I would have new respect for them if they say that they will take some of the proceeds they got from the tribute to help pay some of the workers. Now we all know that this will not happen!!

The leave the mess for others to clean up--typical.

Yep and it was always michael who had to clean that mess up and now that hes no longer here they are trying to find someone who will do the same for them

^^Well it will not be us. We are not cleaning up any messes that we did not cause. Of course they will blame us for this mess claiming we caused the tribute to fail. We should be very proud since we prevented thousands of people from being victimized.

Michael Jackson Tribute Promoters File For Bankruptcy
Global Events LLC, company behind last month's 'Michael Forever' concert, reportedly owes thousands to contractors.

The company behind last month's controversial Michael Jackson tribute concert has filed for bankruptcy, reportedly due to massive debts owed to contractors who worked on the show. Global Events LLC, the promoters of the "Michael Forever" concert in Wales, have turned their finances over to U.K.-based accounting firm RSM Tenon, according to the Welsh newspaper Western Mail. Tenon told the paper that they are "currently conducting our initial review of the business," and reports state that Global Events owes "thousands of pounds" to workers, including members of the U.K. broadcasting union Bectu.

The "Michael Forever" tribute concert was held on October 8 in Cardiff, Wales, and though the show went on — featuring performances by Christina Aguilera, Jamie Foxx, Cee Lo Green and Ne-Yo — it was beset by difficulties from the onset. The Jackson estate expressed their disapproval that they were not consulted over use of Jackson's image, Jackson's brothers Jermaine and Randy called into question the timing of the concert (given the then-ongoing trial of Jackson's former physician, Dr. Conrad Murray), and in the days leading up to the show, announced headliners Kiss were pulled after lead singer Gene Simmons reportedly made derogatory comments about the late King of Pop.

The Black Eyed Peas and Jennifer Hudson — both of whom were also announced as performers at the show — also pulled out before the gig.

Global Events was established in March by producers Michael Henry and Chris Hunt, though according to the Western Mail, both men left the partnership on the day of the concert. When contacted by the newspaper for comment on the company's bankruptcy, Henry said, "All enquires about Global Events should be made [to RSM Tenon]."

^^ The contractors won't be able to sue a company once it goes into administration. In the uk, directors of companies are not personally liable for debts, but they are liable if they carry on trading once a company is insolvent. I'm thinking those people who haven't beeen paid might have a case.

I don't know how this one off concert could make enouch money if it didn't have broadcast rights. The tickets were half-price, they boarded up 1/3 of seating and paid a ton of advertising. It was probably obvious by early autumn that the ticket sales weren't going to pay for the concert. Days before teh concert, the facebook was cancelled and the sky broadcast a fortnight later was cancelled twice, so it was clear that global live never got the rights from the estate. From first announcement of this tribute, globallive never developed any kind of business relationship with the estate, and instead antagnoised them - crazy behaviour if they needed them for rights clearance. If they did try to get the copyrights they must have done it right at the last minute which was far too late and with their previous behaviour must have known they wd have no chance of success.

So if the employees can show that the ticket sales alone weren't enough to pay for all the bills of putting on the concert, (which they couldn't have been or else they wdn't have gone bankrupt), and the decision was made to go ahead with the concert with that knowledge, i think they wd have a chance for going after the globalive directors.

Still don't get why they didn't go about this tribute the right way. All that money and opportunities that might have come from them pulling this off.

The production costs were to high. They knew the revenues from this concert would not cover costs or make enough money but went a head anyway - knowing they would go under and an unable to pay. That is why the day of the concert the promoters disbanded / left the company. The knew upfront this was a fiasco. The Jacksons were also aware upfront that this was spiraling down a big black hole becuase Lotaya was hands on with the planning and organising of this concert.

^^ But i think their original business model intended that the concert wd be broadcast somehow. Even if the concert sold out, to put on a big concert for just one night isn't good economic sense as you have all those overheads and one night sales, so you need to sell it to tv, or dvd. Didn't the first tribute announcement say something about large screens in the usa showing the concert? There was the advertising of cinema screenings (later cancelled), facebook streaming (later cancelled), sky tv broadcast (later cancelled). There were cameras clearly seen in the youtube clips and talk of paid screamers to look excited at the front. So i find it all really bizarre that they never tried to work productively with the estate to get those all -important rights.

Pure speculation, but i'm wondering if they were expecting mrs j to try and persuade the estate to grant the rights, but maybe she didn't bother, as around teh time of the concert the estate paid off her korean lawsuit and that was all she was interested in.

How can a provider of a charity concert go bust?????..........

The only logical solution I can think of is that they were profiting from the ticket sales.........and the (very) low sales means they were in a loss!!!!!

But this is what happens when you do business with the Jackson family!!!!
