Does anyone play the MJ experience and try to sing along. It's really hard so I can't blame him for some playback lol

Dang i havent played that game in ages lol i tend to get out of breath if im really trying hard with the dancing & singing at the same time

Frankly, I'm surprised he never re-recorded the motown medley with his adult voice and do that for the later tours, and mime that.

Michael actually re-recorded four or five Motown songs in 1989 for the Decade album, which eventually became Dangerous after an overflow of new material. I know that Never Can Say Goodbye, I'll Be There and ABC are among them, but I'm not certain on I Want You Back or The Love You Save. But I think that Michael has done that before; if you watch the 30th anniversary performance of I Want You Back, Michael looks like he goes to mime the first words but does it at the wrong time.

^ 30Th ann. performances of The Jackson songs were fully live, unless you prove me wrong

ALL J5 songs were live during the 30th anniversary show!

Thanks :D

people are free to think she is a hypocrite, as is she about the estates releases. The Bad tour, that was a big moment in her career, she is allowed to share in the viewing of that and also feel the way she said, about any future MJ releases, that feeling comes from a place in her heart where she cares for Michael.

This will shock you.

Like I said I've met Jennifer just weeks before the announcement of the THIS IS IT concert tour by Michael. I asked her if she would play with Michael again if he would ask her. She answered that she thought that he is too busy 'playing' with kids that and that a tour would be highly unlikely. But if he would call her she would agree because THE MONEY IS good.

That were her exact words. Right then and there my respect for her just went downhill.

That woman only thinks about money. She wasn't a friend of Michael's.

Just wanted to let you guys know.

WOW. If that's true I just lost A LOT of respect for her !!!

Actually, her response really isn't shocking to me. Is her answer to your question something I want to hear? No. But, is her answer so bad that would let me think differently of her? Not really.

As a fan, I would like to hear something like this "Oh yes. I heard about he's planning a concert series in London. I know it's going to be trememdous. I can't wait to see him perform again. Michael is phenomenal. How much I wish he'd call me. I would do anything to perform on stage with him again. I'd do it for free."

But you know what, the reality was that many people had doubt whether the This Is It concert series could come to fruitation back in the spring of 2009. Even Kenny Ortega had concerns at one point. So, could we really blame her for thinking a tour was unlikely. Also, Jennifer never pretends to be a friend of Michael. She made it clear that she did not have any contact with Michael after the HIStory tour. Unlike many other characters in Michael's life, Jennifer has never sugarcoated her releationship with Michael. She played guitar on stage with him. That's pretty much it. I don't know why fans expect her to be more than a trusted colleague.

An interesting observation here. Fans seems to think it's totally okay or even preferrable for the Estate to make as much money as possible. We want the Estate to be flooded with money, so the childeren can inherit an empire when they grow up. Yet, it's a sin for others to make money or even talk about money. I don't get it. Jennifer has to make a living too. Playing a series of concerts takes a lot of efforts and preparation. So, why can't she talk about money? And, she's right. There is always big money involved in Michael Jackson related projects.

I'm not attempting to defend Jennifer. In fact, I hardly know her and I have no interest in spending time on her. It's just mind bogglling to see the criticisim on her lately.

Not trying to defend her either but since when every person who worked with MJ have to be also his friend.
They don't even have to be his fan. Is not a requirement I think.

I don't think making money or being paid for the job you do is the issue. I think what the main motivation is the issue.

For example I had a career change in 2003. When my old employer called me to help them at a project at 2008 , I said yes because I wanted to help them , because I wanted to be a part of the project, because I loved them, they were my friends. Did I get paid for the job I did? Yes , but money wasn't the reason. It had absolutely no effect on me saying "yes".

Similarly I think the people would expected Jennifer to say "Absolutely I would like to be a part of Michael's comeback if that happens" and not say "why not? the money is good".

Also it kinda makes it hypocritical to criticize Estate with "$" signs, if her own motivation was also "good money".

It's not the money comment that bothers me it's the playing with kiddies comment that does.

But then, why would we expect her to say "I would definitely want to be a part of Michael's comeback"? Because it's Michael, so everyone must jump up to the roof and forget about compensation? Her response about money was blunt. However, I don't see how that made her a greedy person who just thinks about money. Let's be real here. We all work to get paid. Playing guitar is not her hobby, it's her profession. It's a skill that she relies on to make a living. While money is not my biggest motivation, it's a lie if I tell you money is not a big motivation of mine.

Her tweet with the "$" sign was about posthumous release, while her comment about "good money" was about live performance. Working for good money and releasing posthumous release are two different things. Some people think posthumous releases are "money grab" in nature. I don't blame Jennifer if that's what she thought.

In my book, a hypocrite is like Newt Gingrich. He condemned President Clinton's flirtation and inappropriate behavior with Monica Lewinsky while having an extramarital affair with a younger woman himself at the same time. He publicly promoted the importance of "family value" while cheating on his wife the same time. If Jennifer released some sort of posthumous release herself and profited from it while criticizing the Estate, then she's a hyprocite. Thus far, I don't see any evidence that contradicts her tweets.

Again, I don't know her. I just don't see what she has done that deserve the snarky comments from fans. She didn't approach fans. It's fans who reached out to her and asked for her comments and opinons. Yet, once she said something that didn't coincide with our expectations. The trashing started. This is not something pleasant to see.

It's not the money comment that bothers me it's the playing with kiddies comment that does.

How many times have you heard Michael said he enjoyed playing with his children? So, it's totally okay if it's coming out from Michael's own mouth. Yet, it's problematic if the same thing is said by others?

I really don't get why you are bothered by it.

My main issue with all this conversation is how do we know that Jennifer actually made this statement? And if we don't know for sure (e.g. the statement being on record), why do we dissecting it?
Even if I wish to believe the person who had this supposed conversation with Jennifer, it is still, at least, not the exact quote. Shall we as fans be more careful with such things?

She said "playing" with kids not playing with his kids. That is what the person posted what she said above. I am not sure what kids she is referring too. If it's Michael's kids fine but if not then I don't like it.

Good point. We don't know the exact quote. We don't know whether things have been taken out from context.

Thanks for your clarification. I re-read the post again. You are right. He wrote "playing with kids", not "play with his kids".

To justnat's point, the problem we have here is that we don't have the exact quote.

All of Michael's musicians respected Michael and understood the perspective of his music. That creates a bond. Every band member who was on board with him had a certain amount of respect and a relationship with him. The result of that is magic. In Michaels mind everyone behind the scenes and on stage were family. To him that was the foundation of succes.

Jennifer is just someone who didn't connect with MJ offstage. Respect for each other is the most important factor in every department. After miss Batten told me that she thought that Michael was guilty to the child molestation charges, I lost my respect for her. You don't need to play a judge even after someone was rightfully aquitted of those charges. She is trash, and in my honest opinion I was glad Michael didn't call her onboard for THIS IS IT.. Period.

^^ As per usual with MJ fans...

I would not generalize like that, but sometimes I REALLY wish that people mind the source of information when discussing it. It is too often "TMZ reports from anonymous source that such-and-such did so-and-so" becomes "such-and-such did so-and-so as a fact".
Regarding Jennifer, she is still good in my books. On the record, she was nothing but respectful towards Michael. She was the one who called out Gene Simmons on his lies, again on record. She disliked DVD project at the beginning? This is her right and her opinion. She changed her mind? I am glad. As to the supposed "conversation", I am not going to take it into account. Because "a member on Michael Jackson forum states that he or she talked to Jennifer" is NOT a fact. If may be so, may be not. May be misquoted, may be not (unless the member has an audiotape).
I think this is very sad that sources are not questioned before conclusions are drawn.

She said that for real?

o lawd, all this sudden Jennifer hate. Yeesh.

Not everyone in his life was his BESTEST FRIEND. That doesn't mean they weren't great professional partners and got along.
At the end of the day, she was a hired hand to play guitar on his tours.
And the money probably WAS good. I'm sure she doesn't have millions like MJ, so a good gig is a good gig.

And he WAS busy playing with kids. All the sick chirren and his chirren and things of this nature.
Sounded like she was jokingly saying he just would rather hang out with kids (you know, the way MJ always said he prefers hanging out with).

I am not drawing any conclusions. I just read something and pointed out something I didn't like and wondered about it. I don't believe everything I read and see. I am just saying my initial reaction. I don't like "as usual with MJ fans". We are all different people with different opinions and not one type of people. It's not nice and a put down not needed. I don't think it would hurt to ask someone to clarify their thoughts before getting bashed about it first. Before saying you hate, you complain, you take it seriously etc, and jumping to conclusions. It's makes me sad.

I don't think MJ really connected with any of them at all. I'm sure with the exception of rehearsals and moments before the show, he was barely around them. Prolly more so later on as he became more reclusive.

I don't know why you single Jennifer out.

And she probably wasn't called for This Is It because she was older and they wanted a younger, hip guitarist.

All of the above is spot on!! Brilliant posts. Level-headed and balanced opinions. I think the hypocrisy lies elsewhere.

Ok, geez, SOME MJ fans...it's not as if it's not obvious on this board lol

But then, why would we expect her to say "I would definitely want to be a part of Michael's comeback"? Because it's Michael, so everyone must jump up to the roof and forget about compensation? While money is not my biggest motivation, it's a lie if I tell you money is not a big motivation of mine.

well first of all that quote made it seem like money is her biggest motivation and that's what stood out to some. of course we don't expect anyone to do anything for free and she also knew that if she was hired to perform she would be paid. so that quote again makes it seem like her biggest motivation is money. Like she doesn't select jobs based on what she wants to do, who she would prefer to work with but based on who gives the most money.

and there's nothing wrong with money being a motivation for anyone. If you watched Gene Simmons Family Jewels show you would see that he would absolutely do anything for more money. That's exactly the same reason he agreed to do the Cardiff tribute.

So there's nothing wrong with Jennifer being a money oriented person. However that again brings me the other point I made. How can anyone criticize the Estate for making money when their own motivation is money too? but then you introduce the idea of "good money" and "bad money". Posthumous releases can be looked down on by some but paying the Estate's debt and put as much as money aside for Michael's kids isn't "bad money" either. There's a very good reason for MJ Estate to be considering money making options.

Again, I don't know her. I just don't see what she has done that deserve the snarky comments from fans. She didn't approach fans. It's fans who reached out to her and asked for her comments and opinons. Yet, once she said something that didn't coincide with our expectations. The trashing started. so what if some criticize her , Aren't you supporting her? Isn't this really an equal discussion. She said something, some people agreed, some people didn't. Some people criticizing her and some people don't. for you she didn't do anything to deserve this, for some this is hypocritical. It's a normal discussion between different people with different opinions.

loooooooooooool

We really are bored while waiting for BAD25 release, aren't we? :D :D
