CBS /60 Minutes' Tours Michael Jackson's Estate Warehouse Sunday, May 19 at 7 p.m. ET/PT CBS

ok. it was a 15 minutes report. but there was only one additional footage. a short scene about michael jacksons dance shoes.
most of the report was about the money, copyrights. how much he earned. the debts. and the michael jackson one. there were short footage of the final rehearsals. branca speaked about that all.

It was nice, but they kind of put a damper on it when the lady brought up Michael letting boys sleep in his bed. gosh why couldn't they just let this be about Michael and his music? why did they have to bring up that other crap?

When 60 Minutes' Lara Logan and producer John Hamlin toured a secret warehouse where Michael Jackson's personal effects are stored, they found a surreal collection of statues, arcade games, and crystal-encrusted clothing-- but the most fascinating item they found was a simple handwritten note.

"At the age of 21, he wrote a manifesto," explains Hamlin, "scribbled to himself on the back of a tour itinerary in 1979 that described his mission statement for what he wanted to become." The document is folded and worn, and it appears to be hand-written by Jackson in ballpoint pen during a moment of inspiration.

The document reads:

"MJ will be my new name. No more Michael Jackson. I want a whole new character, a whole new look. I should be a tottally [sic] different person. People should never think of me as the kid who sang "ABC," [or] "I Want You Back." I should be a new, incredible actor/singer/dancer that will shock the world. I will do no interviews. I will be magic. I will be a perfectionist, a researcher, a trainer, a masterer [sic]. I will be better than every great actor roped into one."
Logan, who reported on Michael Jackson's estate for 60 Minutes this week, said the letter was the most personal find in the vast warehouse of belongings she toured with archivist Karen Langford.

"One of the things that I discovered is that it was very hard to get a sense of who Michael Jackson was by the end of his life," says Logan. "Because under this siege of accusations and stardom, the real Michael Jackson kind of disappeared. I was hungry for a sense of who Michael Jackson was as a person, and what could be more personal than something he wrote like that when he was so young."

In the note, Jackson also expressed a desire to improve himself by studying the work of great entertainers. In the margin of the document he added this promise: "I will study and look back on the whole world of entertainment and perfect it, take it steps further from where the greats left off."

Hamlin, a music industry producer as well as a 60 Minutes producer, says about the letter: "It's not unusual for young artists, musicians, actors, to daydream about how big a star they wanna become, but for someone to write it down at age 21 and actually execute it almost to the T is remarkable. He set his goals, and he did exactly what he said on the back of that piece of paper."

I enjoyed it very much. I am so happy and relived to know that all his possessions are safely kept by the estate and will one day be passed on to his kids. It is also great to know that his debt has been taken care of and that Branca will never sell his catalogue, Branca was emphatic about that. It speaks to his legacy and popularity that he has almost 60 million likes in facebook and has made over 600 million in 4 years!, no living artist has ever accomplished such a feat. Oh and yes, has sold over 50 million albums, and is the no. 1 selling artist in you tube! I think Michael would be happy. Yes, they brought up the area we would like ppl to forget but unfortunately the reality is that it is part of his history, but it was handled pretty well and Branca pointed out he knew Michael and he was honorable. All in all great program, and all positive for Michael. I also went to 60minutesovertime.com and there is a piece about this manifesto. Michael was so totally goal oriented, and he meant business. He accomplished all his goals and then some. I love you Michael.

Right, seems like it was quite a short report but I'm still waiting for someone to kindly upload it. I read just now that they had mentioned the little boys sleeping on his bed thing and I knew it was gonna be a let down for many of us who were waiting for this to air... it seems that yet again, they didn't focus on important things and allowed tabloid crap into it... smdh.

Don't let that tiny little portion dampen the whole story. Overall it was very positive for Michael, don't focus on that small thing. Brancas was awesome!

amazed at that letter..and thats what he did, studied the great nd became the greatest. That paper is so old, i cant express how happy i am his stuff is safe

Yeah, the mention of "inappropriate behavior" was totally unnecessary. But the note - omg, what a great find!

I'm not, the way I read it made it sound as if it wasn't a worthy piece but I had to watch and I just did, it's pretty nicely done and it's definitely a positive report despite that comment, especially given the tough times Michael's legacy is experiencing with the AEG trial.

I wish they haven't bought up the allegations to the segment, but overall is very decent.

I found the reporter Lara Logan annoying as hell with some of her comments. But other then that is was pretty good. It was a pity they didn't actually air the part about that Note MJ wrote when he was 21. The Video about the note was better then the whole program aired IMO. Said much more about MJ the person.

Just watched the whole segment. Shame about the allegations part but other than that, it was quite interesting. I don't think we'll ever see a TV special about Michael without the allegations being mentioned :/ Branca came across well, that was the first time I ever heard him speak.

P.S. That lady has a lovely accent.

I found some of her comments so annoying and unnecessary. Why bringing the allegations? To me there was no use of it but over all most of it was interesting, specially his manifesto.

i dont understand why she was allowed to touch all this items, especially the glove and the letter, without clean gloves?

It was just bait for ratings. All the parts I wanted to see were in the preview. Lots of unnecessary talk. :/

I have nothing against the executors of the Estate, but I'm getting the feeling that they are the ones pushing this whole "Michael was half a million dollars in debt and we are the ones who resurrected his tarnished image. He's worth more dead than alive, thanks to us."

They really need to stop this, it's annoying, and it's not helping Michael's legacy. What's the message this whole segment sent to the world? "Michael was finished but he wanted to keep spending like he was still a star. Thank God the Estate knows better than him how to run this business." If that's the direction the executors want to take, it's not gonna end well...

Is there any way we could contact them and ask them on behalf of the fans to please stop making Michael look like he would have ended up in the streets if he hadn't died?

I understand that the media will say it anyway, but the executors should fight it, not go along with it. They're supposed to protect his image, don't they know anything about marketing? There's a reason why Michael never talked about his debts and why he always said that his finances were doing great. John Branca doesn't seem to understand that...

The woman's comments and the comments from the Forbes guy made Michael look bad, so what good was it for John Branca to do this segment? The purpose of this segment seems to be to make John Branca look good, not Michael, and that is worrying to me.

so cool but i miss it  i was feeling so sick all day that i sleep all day long i miss it :(

can someone please post video :flowers:

Yeh the news reporter was fishing for blanca to say something bout the wade crap but blanca could see right through it

Can someone upload a full image of that document that MJ wrote pleeeeeaaaase!!! It's the most treasured thing I've ever seen!

In the first clip above, Branca talks about "the Michael we knew, the real Michael, the artistic genius, the visionary." But the idiot interviewer comes right back with . . . the real Michael said he slept with children. That was her braindead response to Branca talking about Michael's genius and vision. The media will always go for the bottom, the lowest level, the mud.

I hear what you're saying but praising MJ falls on deaf ears when it comes to the media, esp. I was so disappointed in that interviewer. She knew NOTHING about MJ or his music and it showed. She really hammered home about his tarnished image, CREEPY, etc. I guess she forgot about what he did for a living, why he was famous and loved in the first place. I think she must be a relative of Bashit.

I think they should talk not just about what a great artist he was, but also what a good person he was. Ever since he died, the media have been saying, "He made good music, let's forget about all his sins." That's not right. The executors need to start working on that part of his image as well, not just his artistry. Michael said on the tape recorded by Murray, "That will be remembered more than my performances." That's what Michael wanted. He considered his philanthropy to be just as important as his art, it's an important part of his legacy.

So true! The problem with Bashir is that Michael gave him full control of the editing. I think from this point on, the executors should always ask to have approval of the final editing before it airs.
